Nostalgia - Open Call Application 2020
Nostalgia – a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past. Take us back in time, let the
world hear your story, how did you grow up?
Artists must be a member of Abbotsford Arts Council to participate. Memberships can be
purchased online at https://abbotsfordartscouncil.com.
Adult $22.50
Student $15
Senior $15
Group $37.50
Exhibition: May 2 to May 30th, 2020, Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St. Abbotsford)
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Show Details
• The Abbotsford Arts Council encourages artwork from ANYONE currently residing in B.C.’s
• Lower Mainland. Children under the age of 19 must provide a parent or guardian signature.
• Artists are encouraged to attend the opening reception of the show but attendance is not required.
Show Requirements
Gallery Submission Requirements
Submissions must include the following:

□ Email or USB drive containing image files of work submitted for consideration.
Format : Jpg. Label images: first initial_last name_title_size_price
Please read the following artwork requirements and show details. Submissions not meeting the following
requirements will not be accepted.
Each piece of artwork must be:
• Original and made by the applicant. No kit crafts, items purchased and assembled, imported crafts, or items
crafted by someone other than the applicant will be accepted.
• Submitted COMPLETELY DRY AND READY TO HANG. D-rings (https://www.abbotsfordartscouncil.com/d-rings)
must be installed on the back of all canvases, wood panels, and frames. The AAC reserves the right to refuse to
display any artwork that does not have the appropriate hardware. For clarification, please email
gallerycoordinator@abbotsfordartscouncil.com (see below example).
• Accepted work will be dropped off at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware Street, Abbotsford) in person at the
agreed upon date.
• Picked up by the agreed upon date or will become the property of the Abbotsford Arts council and be donated.
Each exhibiting artist must be a member in good standing with the Abbotsford Arts Council. Applications must
be purchased after January 31, 2020 to be valid for one year, or January 31, 2021.
*If a group membership in place, each individual member who has a piece hanging in the gallery must also
have an individual membership. Payment is not due until after acceptance, membership is not required to apply.

Show Quality and Display Standards
To ensure exhibition quality and protection of the gallery space, please adhere to the following exhibit guidelines:
• The Kariton Gallery Exhibit Committee will hang all accepted work and have final say as to the acceptance or
placement of pieces. Every attempt will be made to place artwork within the aesthetic scope of the gallery. Final
inclusion and display of a work or works will rest with the Kariton Gallery Exhibit Committee. Once the artwork is in
place, no changes to the display are permitted.
• The Abbotsford Arts Council reserves the right to supplement the show with additional work if not enough entries
are received to fill the gallery.
• All 2 dimensional works will be hung with the above mentioned D-rings, no nails or screws are permitted.
• Removal of artwork from the gallery by the artist before the close of the exhibit is strictly prohibited.
