Join Go Next on the Scenic Amber and witness a once-in-a-lifetime event—the Passion
Play. The town of Oberammergau is famous the world over for its once-a-decade
production. In 1634 with the Black Death pandemic rampant, the villagers gathered
and made a promise their ancestors would keep for nearly 400 years: if they would be
spared from the plague, the residents of Oberammergau pledged to re-enact the last
week of Jesus’s life every ten years. The plague was lifted, and the Passion Play began.
