About us

About us
Cast Away is specialized in unique fly fishing only trips to Europe.
We offer five fly fishing adventures. Each with their own appeal
and price. Each trip can be booked as an all in package or a *DIY -
do it yourself - package.*Not for the Spitsbergen trip.

All-inclusive
If you book an all in trip you don’t have to worry about food; li-
censes; guides; float tubes; or anything else that would be re-
quired to make a fishing trip a success. You can fully concentrate
on fly fishing, enjoying the incredible nature, wildlife and your stay
in one of our accommodations.

DIY
If you book a DIY trip with us you can skip parts from the all in list
(see list packages page). On this list you can check what you need
and what you don’t need. After that we do the math for you and
you get the best price possible.

Traveling light
Travelling with a small group (not more than 4 people) keeps us,
and participants, involved in each trip. This involvement not only
ensures flexibility and effectiveness but frequently results in life-
long friendships. Contact between participants is often maintained
after the trip.

Norway facts

Tranquility:
Space is what Norway stands for. And with an
area of 385,155 square km and a population
of 5.2 million, you never have to worry about
your back-cast.

Weather:
The summers are short but intense. With 16
degrees and the sun high in the sky it’s warm
enough to fish in your T-shirt. Every month,
from June to the end of October, has its own
charm. The days with long light in the first
months and the colour splendour of an ap-
proaching autumn in the later months.

Why choose Norway:
The diverse landscape, the fishing possibilities
and the feeling of wilderness only 90 minutes
from Amsterdam is just unbelievable.

Glomma
a fly fishing paradise
The mighty Glomma river lives up to her
name. With a lenght of 604 km you can
speak from a mighty river.
The problem with big rivers is always the
same : finding hot spots! Of course we
solved this problem for you!

The Early days

In the early days, when the river Glomma was

mighty mostly used as a timber transport route, strong
bearded men and women always addressed
the river Glomma with a decent amount of

Glomma
respect. ‘The mighty Glomma’ wasn’t a river
you could cross without a clear head and some
know-how. And that goes even today.

Glomma Base Camp

‘YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE LAST WEEK’

The camp is situated in the middle of a true fly
fishing paradise. That sounds like a marketing slo-
gan but it isn’t!

We were skeptical to. I think because we are used
to hear: ‘you should have been here last week’ too
many times.

So before we invited guests, we did our home
work. With help from local fly anglers we disco-
vered 5 rivers all in a hour drive from base camp.

THE FISHING
The lakes around Camp Harda are only accessible with a float tube or a rowing boat/kayak
which are provided for your convenience in our all-inclusive concept. The river stretches (which
become lakes and vice versa) can be reached by land.

Hardangervidda is a rough and huge area with endless fishing possibilities. But there is one
but: you have to be able to get to the water. The lake shores and surrounding land are mostly
marshes and bogs. Fishing from shore is not always possible. A float tube or other fishing vessel
is imperative. Your guide will help you to find good fishing grounds.

Left: Almost 2 kilos of golden yellow trout from a small lake in the south of Hardangervidda.

Adventure with a capital A

Spitsbergen
General info
Spitsbergen is one of the last true wildernesses on this planet.
The big question of course is: for how long ?! That alone makes
this trip a unique experience!
Unique in every way
This trip is unique in every way. Not only as a fly fishing destination but as a destination in general.
It is going to be a life changing experience; that much is certain.
Trip part 1
After landing at the airport of Longyearbyen, we spend the first night at the Longyearbyen camp
site. The next morning we travel to the southeast by luxury boat. This destination can only be
reached by boat. We’ll set up camp for 2 nights and fish for arctic char.
Trip part 2
On the morning of day 4 we break up camp and travel, again by luxury boat, for roughly 5 hours
to our actual wilderness camp, high up north (even higher up than the most northern town in the
world Ny Alesund).
A dinghy will drop us off at a remote beach. At this spot we’ll camp for 4 days fishing and explo-
ring, using the included packrafts.

On day 8 we’ll travel back, arriving back in Longyearbyen at about 5 pm, where we’ll have our
parting meal together at the restaurant. Depending on which flight you have booked we
say: “until tomorrow” or “see you soon”.

Note:
For protection reasons - enviromental, resource, sensitive locations - we do not communicate exact locations.
TRIP SCHEDULE IN SHORT

Polar bears
The island of Spitsbergen
harbours more polar bears
than humans! And although
it can and should be consi-
dered an almost magical
animal, we like to keep
some distance.

There will be plenty of
other wildlife, from rare
birds to even rarer whales
and other mammals. You’ll
understand, keeping the
camp secure is a part of our
daily routine. And 24/7 at
that!

The islands landscape, with their clear, almost tropical tur-

as the sea trout itself.

Funen, Langeland and Tasinge are waiting for you to discover them.

CATCHING SEA TROUT
In spite of her nick name; ‘fish of a thousand casts’, catching a
sea trout is on many wish lists. Small or big, catching a sea trout
is always a trophy.

THE FISHING
Sea trout

Sea trout are known as the fish of a thousand
casts. Not because they are particularly difficult
to catch, but they do have to be present and
around to catch them :)

In spring, they rarely show themselves. In the
beginning it therefore can feel a little over-
whelming. Big water; where to begin? But with
a little help from your guide, and after a few
hours, you are going to recognize the good
spots.

Sea trout fever

As it happens, it happens slowly. It sneaks up
on you. It often starts with moderate enthusi-
asm, but it is bound to culminate in: ‘I am going
to buy a house here’.

I have seen grown men going in over their wa-
ders, filling them with ice-cold water, just so to
be able to cast to that distant sea trout. Drip-
ping wet and half-submerged fishermen with
a grotesque smile from ear to ear. Sea trout
hunters, having seen a “turner”, ending up (ef-
fortlessly) casting for it for over one hour. only
to have it turn out to be seaweed. “But it could
have been...”. It is when you know the sea trout
fever is on and no medicine in the world can
cure it.

Iceland Dreams
   A bucket list destination
Welcome to the mid highlands

Back to basics. That is what our Sweden trips epito-
mize. A helicopter drop-off from the Ritsem area or
Kvikkjokk area into the wild, a pick-up at a designa-
ted rendez-vous seven days later, and total solitude in
between. It’s all up to you.

Trout & Char

The mid-highlands of Iceland are famous for their good trout and
char rivers and lakes. Fishing in this part of Iceland is fishing far
away from almost everything. It is you and the unspoiled nature.
It is going to be an unforgettable experience.
No limits

There are no limits on fishing hours on the highlands. This means you can fish 24/7
(mid-summer). Fishing on the highlands is for anglers who are in a fair shape and like to
walk and enjoy the privacy of the Icelandic highlands. You can choose to fish for 2-5 days.
Accommodation
                                AUTHENTIC

The highlands are covered with hundreds of lakes, little streams and rivers.
We mainly fish the streams between the lakes.

You stay in a rustic mountain cabin, which makes the experience even
more unique and authentic.

Our responsibility
Our responsibility is to execute the journey in the best possible way, including the services of our service providers. We can not be held liable for the failure or failure to carry out a travel agreement if the shortcomings are not due to our fault. If you get into trouble during the trip, we are obliged to help you as much as possible. Any costs are for our account if the short-
comings are due to our debt. If the problems are due to you, the costs of the aforementioned help are for your account. the exclusion, the entire travel sum or part thereof can be refunded. You are obliged to report any negligence in the execution of the travel agreement to the service provider in question as soon as possible (preferably in writing).

Complaints
Despite all our preparations and care, it is possible that you believe you have a justified complaint. This complaint must be submitted urgently (within 48 hours) to the service provider on site, preferably in writing. If you fail to do so, you are in principle not entitled to “compensation” in any form whatsoever. Logically, a complaint can be handled much more easily by the ser-
vice provider on the spot than after your homecoming! If the complaint can not be resolved satisfactorily on the spot, it can be submitted in writing to our customer service department within one month after returning home. Complaints that come later can unfortunately not be processed. If it concerns a complaint that we have to send abroad, it is very important that you
also send a translation in English in addition to your native language. This speeds up the complaint handling considerably.
