1. UV light box only turn on when start to capture images or view the gel and must be turn off
immediately after job is finished, UV can’t light up when it is not in use. Any mistake on
! operation and light up for a long time will cause the UV glass filter ( black glass) degrade on
its UV transmission. The replacement of UV glass filter is expensive.
2. UV light box can not light up all the time, switch on when use and switch off immediately
when not in use. Any mistake on operation will lead to light intensity of UV tubes degrade
! and weak , even results in short life time and earlier to replace new UV tubes
3. UV light box is a dangerous light source. User can’t expose under this light or illustrate to
eyesand skin directly. Over expose to UV light will cause seriously damage on user’s eyes
! and skin eg. blind, suntan, skin cancer. Protect your eyes and skin with UV resistant
goggle and face shield
4. Use the DNA dye EtBr ( Ethidium Bromide ), must pay attention on free from contamination
Don’t contaminate with user and machine body. The dye solution is high binding chemical
with human skin or any part of body will lead to DNA mutation and cause any diseases e.g.
cancer. Use this kind of DNA dye solution must follow up the safety precaution of the
instruction manual of chemical supplier . Any user or service engineer must wear gloves
when touch the system. The best protection rule will be one hand wear with glove and the
other hand without glove and touch the contaminate area e.g. UV glass filter ( deep blue
color ) and DNA gel with glove hand, the other clean hand touch with other clean parts of
the system, in order to keep all the system area is clean and safety. Don’t forget that is
inhibit to use the glove hand to touch other area of the machine except the UV glass filter
area .

1) Safety Caution & Warnings
5. Use the DNA dye Sybr Green or other similar safe dye e.g. Sybr Safe , Sypro Orange, Sypro
Ruby etc. although most of these dye are low mutagenic , but still highly recommend to wear
glove take gels and touch UV filter glass area and pay attention on free from contamination
Use this kind of DNA dye solution must follow up the safety precaution of the instruction
manual of chemical supplier . Any user or service engineer must wear gloves when touch
he system. The best protection rule will be one hand wear with glove and the other hand
without glove and touch the contaminate area e.g. UV glass filter ( deep blue color ) and
DNA gel with glove hand, the other clean hand touch with other clean parts of the system,
in order to keep all the system area is clean and safety. Don’t forget that is inhibit to use
the glove hand to touch other area of the machine except the UV glass filter area.
6. Use correct voltage and current outlet.

7. Disconnect from power supply before maintenance and servicing. Refer servicing to qualified
! personnel.
8. The unit described in this manual is designed to be operated only by trained personnel. Any
! adjustments, maintenance or repair must be carried out as defined in this manual, by a
person qualified to be aware of hazards involved.
9. The covers of the electronic ballast should only be removed by personnel who have been
trained to avoid the risk of electrical shock.
10. Any suspected that safety protection has been impaired in any way or feeling of electrical
shock even weak on any parts of the machine , then the unit must be made inoperative
and secured against any intended operation. The fault condition should immediately be
reported to the appropriate servicing authority for detail checking
11. Only put the wet gel on the center of black glass filter, please wipe the wet area to dry with
clean wipe paper ( e.g. lens clean paper) and also keep the glass filter dry after use. Don’t
let the gel dye solution residue stay on the glass or spread to every where of the system. It
may be lead to un-revival dirty background filter, system short circuit damage and electronic
shock.
12. Pay attention on the following electronic safety which will maybe lead to short circuit, over
heat, fire, electronic shock.
1) power plug is not fix or insert completely into the power outlet socket
2) manifold have many power cable inserted and over loading ( don’t over manufacture
specification for power consumption )
3) power cable damage, drag, modification. ( prohibit these damage )
4) ensure insert the power plug into the socket which connect with earth).

1) Safety Caution & Warnings
13. The power specification of the system will be difference according to each
! countries regulation. Please check the back label of the machine will
marked with 120V, 60HZ or 220V, 50Hz
Note: Please use 2A fuse in power source 100~120/50~60Hz countries, while 1A fuse
! is for power source 200~220V/50~60Hz countries.
10. Don’t use the power source which is not specified in this manual especially highly
prohibit to use any transformer to increase or decrease the power voltage .
11. Don’t touch the machine with wet hand or naked feet without shoes will lead to
electrical shock dangerous.
12. It is prohibited to release or take off the power plug from the wall power source
socket when the machine is in switch on and standby to use. It is dangerous to
have sparkle and lead to damage the machine or fire.
13. It is prohibited to insert the power plug into the wall power source socket when the
machine switch is in “ on “ position . It is dangerous to have sparkle and lead to
damage the machine or fire.
14. The machine can switch on when start to use, but it need to be turn off immediately
when not in use, otherwise will results in over heat on the machine outside shell and
UV filter glass , will maybe damage the machine and hurt user.
15. Don’t install the machine in the highly humidity and dust environment area . The
parts inside of the machine will lead to electrical shock dangerous.

4) Installation
1. Place the machine on a steady, flat table.
2. Set the location away from the sink of laboratory and prevent from water splash
3. Set the location away from the windows and prevent from direct sun light to degrade the
function of machine and also environment bright light will affect the fluorescent DNA
sample detection.
4. Decide the UV resistant cover to be fixed on the front side or back side.
5. Adjust the hinge central screw to moderate tighten in order to let the cover can be stay at
any angle and won’t drop down. Don’t tighten too much.
6. Peal off the transparent plastic sheet on the UV filter glass ( deep blue glass ) . If the
sheet do not peal off, user still can view the DNA bands when start to us in the first 2
weeks, but will not see anymore when the sheet is changed to a little bit yellow color
7. Peal off the transparent plastic sheet on the UV resistant cover when start to use
8. Keep the machine back side at least 10cm from the wall to let the cooling fan blow out the
heating air from the inside of machine
9. Keep the bottom of the machine clear for air inlet freely, don’t set any lab table paper
under the machine , otherwise will stop the air circulate.
10. Connect the power cord to the power socket in the rear of the machine and make sure the
plug is fully insert to the end.
11. Connect the power cord to the power socket in wall and make sure the plug is fully insert
to the end.
12. Check the power source on the lab wall socket is compatible with your machine’s fuse
rating input, is 115V or 220V

5) Operation
1. Open the cover to stand up position
2. Set the DNA gel on the UV filter viewing area
3. Close the cover
4. Switch on to view the sample bands :
single wavelength UV LightBox : dual wavelength UV LightBox :
II = up = high UV intensity II = up = 254nm or 306nm
I = low = low UV intensity I = low = 365nm

5. finish, set the switch to “O”
Caution:
1. Must turn off the UV light box after watching gel. The life of the UV filter glass
will be decrease , if the UV light continuous lighting on, so please don’t forget to
turn off the box after used.
2. UV light box is a dangerous light source. User can’t expose under this light or
illustrate to eyes and skin directly without protection. Over expose to UV light
will cause seriously hurt on eyes and skin e.g. blind, suntan, skin cancer.
3. Highly recommend when user access the UV LightBox:
Protect eyes and skin with UV resistant goggle and face
! shield when use the machine, also close down the UV
resistant cover

5) Operation
Caution : !
1. The color of fixed UV light indicator label on top left corner will be changed
from white to red, if the plastic transparent UV resistant cover fail to block
UV, then the transparent UV resistant cover need to be replace.
2. Another UV light indicator label is not fixed locate in the right front corner
of the machine plastic bag , user can check the UV resistant cover any time
for safety.
Usage procedure:
1. Place the UV light indicator label on the black UV filter glass ( white side
face up), turn on UV Light Box, then you will see the color change ( white to
red and word UV PASS) that means the label is still work and valid.
2. Place the light indicator label on top of the plastic UV resistant cover
(white face up) when the cover is in close position, turn on UV Light Box
and see whether or not the color change. It should be no color changed
under normal condition, if color change and see the back side words “ UV PASS”.
That means has UV light penetrated the protect cover. The cover should be
replace.
3. If the indicator label not work or no color change when it is exposed on UV light,
then It should be replace a new one. ( Life of light indicator: 500 sec. )

5) Operation
Other function:
1. Cover can be fix on front side or back side when combine with other Gel
documentation e.g. DigiGel or VideGel
2. User need to open and pull up the UV resistant cover and face the
UV box behind the cover and even adjust the cover level with any
angle for convenience to see the gel.
Caution:
User need to wear the UV resistant
goggle and the face shield when UV
working in this dangerous light
Multiple protection will be more safe
and essential.
3. More space on the right side :
Accommodate other upgrade products
e.g. Mitsubishi or Sony thermal printer.
That can save laboratory bench space
when all of Gel documentation components
come together. Magnetic pad can fix
steel tube rack or other cutting tools.

6) Maintenance and safety:
1. Clean the outside of UV Light Box by wiping with a clean , dry cloth. Never
use harsh or abrasive cleaners or organic solvents on the UV Light Box or
any of its parts.
2. Clean the black UV filter glass with clean water and wipe the surface gently
with a clean soft, lint-free cloth. Never use organic solvents to clean
surface. Don’t let Agarose gel stay on the UV filter glass after use,
otherwise the gel will dry and stick on the glass.
3. Don’t have pressure on the UV filter glass. It will damage the expensive
glass filter .
4. Caution: In order to avoid electrical shock , the protective ground conductor
of power cord must be connected to ground.
5. Use the commercial EtBr decontaminate spray solution to clean the main
body of the light box.
6. Place a UV transparent plastic plate on the UV filter glass when cut a gel,
don’t direct operate or cut on the surface of the filter glass.
7. Use a brush to clean up the dust of the fan output net which located on the
back side of the machine.

7) Trouble shooting :

8) UV tube replacement :
Caution : UV tubes is dangerous light !
Wear the UV resistant goggle and face shield
UV light box is a dangerous light source. User can’t expose under this light or illustrate to eyes
and skin directly without protection. Over expose to UV light will cause seriously hurt on eyes
and skin e.g. blind, suntan, skin cancer.
Step :
1. take off the power plug from back left
socket

2. release the screws of 4 edges
3. remove the UV resistant cover

to fix position.
7. test :
