PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
Annual Prize Distribution for the smart
kindergarteners was held on 13th March, 2018 with
a motive to honour their hard work and dedication.
BIS believes in boosting up talent of each and every
child in curricular and co-curricular activities.
Henceforth, certificate of participation was given to
all the participants of Show and Tell, Poem
Recitation and Story Telling.
Honourable Principal Mr. Saji Jacob gave away the
certificates and encouraged the students to
participate with more enthusiasm in future. The
thundering applause of the audience while receiving
certificates brought smile on the face of all kids.

KG-II
FAREWELL
“I cannot say goodbye to those
whom I love, for the memories
we have made will last a
lifetime, and will never know to
bid goodbye.”
The students of KG-I bid farewell
to KG-II students on 14th March,
2018. The farewell party was celebrated with fervour at Assembly Hall. The program started with a
melodious action song by KG-I boys. KG-I girls marked the occasion by their beautiful moves on Arabic
and Punjabi peppy tunes whereas KG-II kids loved the adorable performances presented by their
friends and thanked them with big round of applause.
Honourable Principal, in his speech suggested a
few guidelines to teachers and students for the
forthcoming session.

Anthem which was followed
by lighting of lamp by the
Chief Guest Ms Muna Shaheen,
Head of Evaluation and
Development at Directorate of
Private Education and Guest of Honour Ms.Reem Al Dhaen, Education Specialist at Directorate of
Private Education.
BIS Directors and Principal awarded the certificates
to the young graduates of KG II who expressed their
love and gratitude towards their school and
teachers through their performance. These little
ones receiving their first diplomas will be our future
high school graduates, moving forward to yet
another new beginning.

CLASS PICNIC
TASNEEM AGRICULTURE & DEVELOPMENT PARK
“Spring means happy times and good sunshine, with a picnic planned for, it means going to a
farm and rejuvenate with joy and unlimited
fun.”
BIS children of Grade I, II and III visited
Tasneem Agriculture & Development Park on
4th March and 14th March for their class picnic.
Tasneem Agriculture & Development Park is an
initiative towards growth and production of
green leafy vegetables and fruits.

The park includes a play area for children, well-equipped with all rides
and games. Also there is a nursery, a backyard greenhouse kit that
provides a stable, warm environment where plants like tomatoes and
peppers are planted and grown. The trip included a visit to the zoo
where children spotted wild dogs, alligators, African eagles, ostriches
and other birds and animals.
Under the umbrella of the farm, the farmers grow various plants like
bananas, mulberries, blueberries, lettuces, tomatoes etc. Children
enjoyed the rides and were provided with a little sapling as a token of
remembrance of the place.

WAHOO TRIP
The Class Picnic for Grade IV – VIII was held on
14th March at Wahoo Water Theme Park,Bahrain
City Centre. It was a splash packed, ride filled
watery wonderland. A multi-level fortress and the
toddler pool offered fun for the children, while
older kids could rock the tide in the wave pool or
lounge in the Lazy River.
The Mat Racer, Sidewinder, Flow Rider and Black
Hole are some of the spectacular rides in the park
that catered to the thrill seeker in kids. A ‘sub-
tropical paradise’ themed water park, a moored
schooner (sailing vessel) at the heart of the
‘tropical island’ gave the kids a panoramic view of
the park. The trip to Wahoo water world
experience was such a mesmerizing moment that
no kids will ever forget this enthralling event.

OPEN HOUSE
“For good ideas and true innovations, one needs to interact,
Every single interaction is a training opportunity”.
Time flies! The children started their journey just a year back and gradually finished a complete
year successfully. There were hurdles and different obstacles but nothing could stop their little
footsteps and break their determination towards success. An interactive Open House Meet was held
at BIS on 28th and 29th March to acknowledge their hard work and performance in scholastic and co-
scholastic areas.
The event opened its door so that parents could meet the educators to get a glimpse into the child’s
learning.
Wishing all of them good health, and visualizing them tightening their crampons to climb up the hills
of new aspirations and challenges as set for them in the new academic session.

SPEL-BEE PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
CEREMONY
"Bhavans GCC Spell Bee- a stepping stone to a spellbinding success", is
an initiative towards sharpening the spelling skills of the students,
helping them to increase their vocabulary and most important is
guiding them to learn something out of the box. Every year, Indian
Educational School, Kuwait organizes this spectacular event in the GCC. The competition follows a
three-tier system- The School Level, The National Level and the Grand Finale at GCC Level.
Like last year, this year too, the little ones, BIS young spellers proved their hidden talent and spelling
calibre through the journey of Spell Bee, 2017-18. Hence, BIS Director- Ms. Ritu Verma, Principal Mr.
Saji Jacob and Coordinator Dr.
Preet Kamal applauded and
honoured these little champs with
achievement certificates for
appreciating their hard work and
determination.
The entire event was organised
and anchored by Educator Ms.
Greetina and Ms Arpita under the
coordination of English
Department.

ORIENTATION PROGRAM
FOR PARENTS
“Education is not to reform students or amuse them or to
make them expert technicians. It is to unsettle their minds,
widen their horizons, inflame their intellects, teach them to think
straight, if possible.”

Inducting parents into the system is a crucial aspect of a school. Orientation Program for parents was held
on 24th March at BIS. Parents were updated about the entire schooling system at BIS through the session
conducted by our Principal and Educators. Parents were intimated of the revised examination pattern,
extracurricular activities, and support required from parents. It was an interactive session where parents
had an opportunity to raise and clarify their queries.
Parents were given guidelines about Digital Campus and
Learning Management System. It was an opportunity for
parents to know what to expect in the coming year and to
equip themselves for the same.
MARCH, 2018The Principal spoke about the teaching
methodologies, philosophy and assessment
procedures of the school. He also explained
about the infrastructure, transport, safety
and security standards and all other
administrative aspects of BIS. First session
was conducted by Educators of Pre-Primary
Wing, who explained about the curriculum
and shared their experience of innovative
concepts in education. Second session was
conducted by Educators Ms. Augustina and
Ms.Shyamala, who explained the salient
features of BIS curriculum through real life
demonstrations of the pedagogy. They
highlighted the year round activities and
emphasized on innovative concepts
implemented in imparting education.
BIS appreciated the efforts of parents for taking out time from their busy schedule to attend the program.
The event was brought to a happy end by parent teacher interaction and a commemorative photograph of
all participants and speakers.
MARCH, 2018PROGRESS IN INTERNATIONAL READING
LITERACY STUDY
Students of Bahrain Indian School participated in 4th cycle of
PIRLS, 2016 (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study)
under the guidance of Educator Ms Renjini. It was conducted
under the supervision of the International Association for the
Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) to assess the
students’ progress in reading literacy for students of Grade IV in
different countries.
Master Vaibhav Rajesh was awarded prize at Ministry Hall,
Ministry of Education on 22nd March for his outstanding
performance in
PIRLS.
Ministry of Education felicitated School Principal Mr Saji
Jacob for the good performance of the school.
School Directors Mr Himanshu Verma and Ms Ritu
Verma congratulated Vaibhav and Ms Renjini for their
contribution.
MARCH, 2018FIFTH MINI OLYMPICS
The Fifth Mini Olympics was held from 8th March
to 22nd March at ISA Sports City’s Bahrain
Volleyball Association Gym, Riffa. The Mini
Olympics is being organized by the Bahrain
Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with
the Ministry of Education. This year, almost 3,500
students from government and private schools
took part and competed in near about 20 sports
events. Bahrain Olympic Committee President
Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa inaugurated
the event.
It’s really a matter of pride to announce that BIS had
participated in the 5th Edition of School Mini
Olympics under the guidance of Educator Mr.
Hemanth Narghese Sugathan in many games like
Table Tennis, Karate Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu,
Badminton, Athletics and Swimming. Our talented
champs brought laurels in few of the events.

CHALLENGE
ATLC is an event being organised
by Asianet Think and Learn gives
an opportunity for all the students
from Grade V onwards in all CBSE
Schools, across GCC, where their
real talent and critical thinking is
tested. ATLC gives the young ones
an opportunity to showcase their skills like visual reasoning, scientific aptitude etc.
The Asianet Middle East, a leading TV channel owned and operated by Star Middle East launched the
GCC CBSE interschool think and learn quiz contest. This contest is telecast across the Middle East on
Asianet with the final school teams.
The Qualifying Rounds were conducted in Dubai on 19th March where the top 6 teams from Bahrain
were selected. Bahrain Indian School was among one of the qualifying teams. BIS team consisted of
Ritisha Bisht of Grade VII and Johann Vijo of Grade V. All the six teams were taken to Dubai where they
faced a neck to neck competition. BIS stars did a commendable job and proudly represented their
school.

Large meadows are lovely for picnics and romping, that is why the
picnic spot should be in the lap of nature, under the blue sky…
The most awaited day of the year, yes the staff picnic was organized by
School Directors, Mr. Himanshu Verma and Ms. Ritu Verma on 22nd March. All
BIS enthusiasts felt energized and rejuvenated themselves through their visit
to Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Park. It was a wonderful experience where all staff came
forward and experienced a direct connection with nature.
This place is full of greenery and beautiful flowery
plants that create a wonderful ambiance all around.
The Park adds a pure fragrance to the nature and its
pleasant breeze carries it at every corner
of the woodland. BIS staffs were excited and
explored the nature's beauty.
There were few games planned for teachers,
wherein they actively took part and expressed their
inner childlike feelings.
After a tiring and fun packed evening, all staff had
dinner altogether. The park, filled with the fragrance
of North Indian food triggered the hunger of all and
everyone relished the authentic cuisine
wholeheartedly.

Throughout this year, we have worked in concert and enjoyed it thoroughly. We thank you all for
playing the role of responsible parents. The way you cooperated with all the teachers in making
students participate in the co-curricular, academics and extra-curricular activities was just
commendable. We are sure that our students will always count this year as one of the most productive
