     OUR MISSION IN ACTION
PROGRAM AND SERVICES REPORT 2020/2021 - ECZEMA SOCIETY OF CANADA OUR MISSION IN ACTION
A MESSAGE FROM THE
    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In January 2020 ESC had a laser sharp focus on our vision for the year
ahead. Our strategic goals included education and support for patients
and caregivers, plans to advocate for our community and meet with
decision makers from coast-to-coast, and build on our medical education
programming to improve patient care. We were excited for our expanded
cross-country Life with Eczema in-person event series, which were re-
imagined for 2020 so those touched by eczema could unite, learn, and
      share together.

Then the world was turned upside down by COVID-19. Canada united
to stop the spread and our lives were put on pause.

ESC however remained constant; we continued to offer our services,
shifted our in-person events to a digital platform, and were here to serve
our community. The burden of eczema did not pause and neither did ESC.
This year has taught us that while circumstances and delivery of services
may change, the need for support, education and awareness is constant.

We are always here to help.

      Sincerely,

      Amanda Cresswell-Melville
      Executive Director
      Eczema Society of Canada

Thank you for your children’s book.

My child read it and said “It’s good
to know other kids have eczema too,
because no one in my class does, and the
book made me feel like it was okay.”

They related to the book in a way
        I’ve never seen before.

THE ATOPIC DERMATITIS
                      PATIENT JOURNEY
ESC is proud to share its report The Atopic
Dermatitis Patient Journey. Based on patient and
caregiver interviews, surveys, and focus groups, the
Journey is a comprehensive look at the AD patient
journey in Canada.

The Journey maps the shared path of patients living
with atopic dermatitis (eczema) from symptom
onset, to diagnosis, to treatment. It aims to shine
a light on the issues and barriers to care faced by
patients and their family members.

With improvements in treatment plans, access to
specialist care, and intervention before a patient
reaches the point of crisis, we can make strides in ESC
improving patient care and reducing suffering.
