Bits and Pieces AC1S18
From Ancient Greece and Rome to the splendors of Turkish mosques, mosaic art
ADULT has had a prominent role in exquisite decoration throughout history. This art form is
experiencing a renaissance fueled by the craze for pattern as well as reuse of materials!
Come explore the ancient yet modern art of mosaics in this unique class! Each student
VISUAL ARTS creates a variety of mosaics out of vibrantly colored bits and pieces of ceramic and
glass. Participants learn techniques in design, cutting, gluing and grouting. This art form
is one in which even a beginner will be proud to take home and display their creations.

Learn to use the pottery wheel in this beginning class that covers bowls, plates, and
cups. Students learn basic handbuilding techniques to broaden the scope of possible
projects. Specific pieces are demonstrated each week to continue challenging even
intermediate students while allowing for self-exploration and the development of one’s

Enjoy creating jewelry in this 4-week intensive course. Begin with easy twisting to make
simple wire constructs like pendants, bracelets, and rings. Then try more complex

Demystifying the Sewing Machine AF2S18

Winter 2018 Collographs can be an exciting combination of relief printing, adding and subtracting
layers of material and monotype printmaking. Create printing plates mostly by re-using
common household recyclable materials and printing with non-toxic, water-soluble inks.

approaches to shooting, editing and assembling animations. Students must supply their

In More Than Dirt, students explore the wide variety of creativity that is available in the

Marvelous Mosaics (Gr 3-5) YC3S18
Travel through time with Romans, Spaniards, Turks and more! Explore the ancient art of
mosaics in which students break things in order to make something new! Each student
arranges mosaics out of colored bits and pieces of ceramic and glass before they smear
grout over the whole thing to seal it together. The result could be a beautiful flower or a
favorite pixelated environment from Minecraft or Legos! Techniques in design, cutting,
gluing and grouting are included. This art form is one in which even a beginner will be
proud to take home and display their creations.
