 Here’s a checklist to help you garner your
 best sales this month!

 NOVEMBER TO-DOS
 Review your sales goal. What are your average sales per
 party? Calculate the number of parties you need to reach your
 goal, and do it!

 Check your inventory. It’s a busy selling season, so ensure
 you have adequate product inventory on hand. Consider
 ordering those regular-line products you know will sell
 throughout the year.

 Book open houses. Plan a holiday open house before Black
 Friday (November 24). If you’re new in your Mary Kay business,
 try partnering with another Independent Beauty Consultant to
 broaden your displays and expand your guest list.

 Sell the sizzle. Book parties in the New Year by offering a
 swag bag full of product samples to anyone who books and
 holds a pampering party in January. (Just remember: she gets
 the swag bag at her party).

 Get social. If you choose to offer an incentive for Black Friday,
 be sure to spread the word on social media* – and encourage
 your guests to bring friends. The more the merrier!

        a powerful booking plan to boost her business, and she’s never looked back.

DSEF CIRCLE OF DISTINCTION AWARD
Kathleen Mannion, Group Manager Sales Force Services at Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. was the recipient
of the Circle of Distinction Award, which honours individuals who have devoted significant years of
service and have made considerable contributions to the Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF) and
the direct selling industry.
Kathleen is known as an active, participating board member who has served the association with 10 years
of service. She held the position of Director on the DSEF board from 2006 to 2015. She has always been
recognized as a valued contributor to DSEF discussions and an eager participant on many projects, but
the area that was near and dear to her heart was the fundraising efforts for DSEF, which were transformed under her leadership.
Through her exceptional fundraising efforts, strategic planning, mentoring and significant participation in Junior Achievement
events to educate students on the direct selling industry, Kathleen has proven to be an outstanding contributor to the DSEF as well
as the direct selling industry.

  40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
  Mary Kay has a lot to be proud of…and to celebrate. Thanks to you and your
  customers, we’ve left our mark on the beauty industry in Canada for a remarkable 40
  years!

  So we’re taking the party on a cross-country road trip! It’s the Mary Kay 40th Anniversary
  Tour…and you’re invited!

  Our plan is to incorporate successful elements from recent Ontario PR events, and
  an opportunity to engage, bond, and enjoy the fun things we have in store with the
  excitement and atmosphere of an Expo (similar to what you would see at Seminar).
  This will include interactive stations where your customers and potential team members
  will have an opportunity to see, touch and learn about all thing Mary Kay and what
  makes us unique. All to celebrate Mary Kay Canada’s 40th anniversary and our goal of
  reaching 40 by 40!
  With these new events, we will not be hosting Coast to Coast in 2018.

  We’re in the process of selecting cities and locations and will be sure to let you know
  as soon as those plans are finalized. What’s unique about these events is that they
  will incorporate sales force members, corporate staff and consumers! We know
  we’ve piqued your interest, and we assure you that you’ll be the first to hear about all
  of the amazing details once they’re in place.

      ust ask Independent Sales Director Sariane Fortin of Saint-Hyacinthe, QC. She said “yes” to the Mary Kay
      opportunity in July 2016 and debuted as an Independent Sales Director less than a year later! Now she’s behind the
      wheel of the prestigious pink Cadillac and living out her dream! With a strong unit and team, and a
  magnetic personality that inspires others, Sariane sits down with Applause® magazine to share her journey
  and tips to climbing the career path.

  When did you know that you wanted to become an Independent Sales Director? What was the deciding
  moment?
  “I knew I wanted to be an Independent Sales Director after six months with the Company, when I realized
  that I was putting lots of energy in a job I liked but in which I could never advance. So I decided to put lots
  of energy in a job that I liked and which would allow me to move up the ranks. This is what sparked my
  decision. My Sales Director and my colleagues at Mary Kay saw me as a Sales Director and encouraged me to take the
  plunge. I said to myself that all those people saw something in me that I did not see. So, I decided to go commit to it 100%
  to see if I could live up to their expectations.”
  What attracted you the most about becoming an Independent Sales Director?
  “What I liked the most about becoming a Sales Director was to be able to work at making my own dream come true, which
  wasn’t the case when I was a salaried employee. So, shortly after one year with the Company, I earned the use of my first
  Pink Cadillac, the ultimate trophy on wheels. It’s something that I would have never imagined in my life before!”

  What advice would you give to a Star Team Builder who wants to submit her Independent Sales Director-in-Qualification
  (DIQ) Commitment Form?
  “The advice I would give is to take a look at their teams; they are made up of women who they have inspired and who
  have followed them because they trusted them. This alone is a great proof of their leadership. They have to understand
  that to qualify for the status of Sales Director is only a continuation of the excellent work they are already doing; they have
  everything to get there.”
  What are your top 5 tips for moving up (the career path)?
  1. Set clear goals and visualize carefully all the steps that need to be taken to reach them.
  2. Be very disciplined and stick as much as possible to a pre-established work schedule.
  3. Develop a strong control of personal emotions so as not to get distracted from the goals.
  4. Seize every opportunity to share the business opportunity, even if at the beginning it does not present itself.
  5. To realize that we are so lucky to be part of a great company, created by a woman for women; to understand that this
  		 great attitude shines through all the aspects of our work, which can only be a positive thing.
