WELCOME
FROM THE
RIDE DIRECTOR
Welcome to the 2021 Mudgee Classic, following on from the success of the other
Classic events we have brought the Classics to the Mudgee region!

The 2020 Mudgee Classic was postponed due to COVID-19, so I am extremely happy
to welcome you all here on the Start line for the 2021 event! I hope that you enjoy your
experience. This is the inaugural event for Mudgee and it is almost sold out!!

This guide will give you all the details you need for the event, for each course, how to
prepare and what to bring on the day. If you then have any further questions before
the event, please don’t hesitate to flick us an email. Otherwise, come ready to ride an
unforgettable cycling event around a scenic course.

Keep safety at the forefront of your mind when out riding. The roads are mostly still
open to traffic. Shout out a “Hi” or words of encouragement to other riders on-course.
Let them know your intent to pass by saying “rider right” to ensure safety on our roads.
Remember that this Gran Fondo event is a ride, not a race. Ride to your abilities and
respect all road rules, other riders and road users.

There will be Traffic Controllers out on-course for your safety, we will also have
volunteers on the course to provide direction for you, so please follow their
instructions and listen to their warnings.

Also please remember that this is a COVID safe event, so please keep your 1.5m social
distancing and use the sanitising stations provided around the event regularly. We will
also have QR codes to check-in when required for contact tracing.

Please enjoy the full hospitality of the Event Village once you have completed
your ride. There will be live music, gourmet food stalls and bars to enjoy your
complimentary drink.

Let’s make 2021 a year to remember for the Mudgee Classic!

Cheers,
David Kemp, Ride Director

WELCOME
FROM THE NSW
GOVERNMENT

On behalf of the NSW Government, I am delighted to welcome you to the
inaugural Mudgee Classic.

The Mudgee Classic is the second NSW-based cycling event for Bicycling
Australia, catering for all riding abilities and offering three unique courses that
will showcase the region’s spectacular scenery. The NSW Government is proud
to support this event via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

Events such as the Mudgee Classic are the lifeblood of many regional towns,
generating substantial economic and social benefits for local communities,
which is why we’ll continue to do all we can to provide support to the NSW
visitor economy and tourism and events industry.

I wish all competitors the best of luck and encourage visitors to take some
time outside the main event to explore one of Australia’s finest food and wine
regions.

The Hon. Stuart Ayres,
Minister for Tourism

SEAT POST STICKER

Your seat post sticker clearly displays your unique Rider
Identification Number. Place this around your seat post – without
it you will not have access to the Start/Finish areas or on-course
support. Your personal details are recorded with this number and
it will be used for identification if medical attention is required.
If driving, please do not put the seat post sticker on your bike before arriving to the
event. Going along the freeway at 110kph is not advised for the stickers as they will
deteriorate and become ineffective.

It is compulsory this is attached to your seat post during the event. Please do not alter,
cut, or fold your sticker.

You will also find a Tube Sticker which identifies key points on the course such as
rest stops (please note that these were printed for the 2020 event and the Finish Line
location has changed to Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex).
