Helpful information:
Design:
Artists may use fabric. There are no restrictions on materials, however no alcohol is allowed onstage as a
“prop” or any other means. We encourage artists to be creative and cost-efficient and consider repurpos-
ing used or recycled materials. Fabric or ‘premade’ clothing can be used to affix new materials for color
and texture. See images on attached sheets for ideas of what the Happening Committee hopes to achieve
from last year’s event.
It is ok for more than one artist to collaborate and work together on one fashion piece.
Nudity is not acceptable. However, sheer fabrics or translucent materials are ok as long as there is still
something ‘left to the imagination.’ Male models should at least have on briefs or boxers but are not re-
quired to wear a shirt. Females will need some kind of covering for their breasts, pubic, and rear areas. If
there are questions as to the ‘appropriateness’ of certain pieces, or how far we can push the ‘acceptable
line’ please contact Carrie Gibbs. Cedarhurst does not want to censor artists, and this event is for 18 and
older adults, however there is a certain level of modesty we still strive to maintain for the comfort of our
patrons.Models / Backstage Area:
The fashion piece created will need to be ‘mobile.’ Your model will need to be able to walk the distance
of the performance hall more than once and be able to go up and down stairs. Models are encouraged to
gather in the corridor after the program. We ask that models remain in their ensemble until the end of the
event. We hope they will have fun celebrating the success of the event.
Bottled water and light refreshments will be available in the dressing room area the night of the event. No
alcohol is allowed backstage. The only persons allowed in the backstage dressing room area will be
artists, models, museum staff, and Happening committee members. Cedarhurst is not responsible for lost
or stolen items.
Alcohol:
Due to liquor license restrictions, absolutely no outside alcohol is allowed on the premises. If the artist or
their model want to consume alcoholic beverages during the event they must do so moderately and pur-
chase them from the Cedarhurst bar. No alcohol is allowed backstage, and no alcohol is allowed onstage
as a “prop” or any other means.
Photographs:
Professional photographer Robbie Edwards will be available during the event to photograph you and/or
your model and the finished fashion piece. A digital copy of the photo will be provided no longer than
two weeks after the event and can be included in your artist portfolio.
