LENTEN PARISH MISSION THIS WEEK! – One of the great privileges of our Lent this year is that we are having our Parish Mission this week while it's still early in the season. Today, we welcome Father Serge Probst, O.P. who will be preaching at all the English Masses this weekend. Starting tomorrow, Monday, March 1st and continuing through Thursday, March 4th, Father will be conducting two spiritual conferences per day. The morning conference will take place after the morning 8:15 a.m. Mass and will start at 9:00 a.m. I encourage you to come to the morning Mass which Fr. Serge will celebrate and then stay for the conference. In the evening, the conference will take place at 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday evening, the conference will take place during our regular Holy Hour and Confessions will be available as well. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to renew your spiritual life. Join me in welcoming Fr. Serge to our parish! LENTEN STATIONS OF THE CROSS – I am very pleased with the attendance at our Friday Stations thus far and encourage everyone to make time for it. Our English Stations are at 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and the Spanish Stations are at 7:15 p.m. Join us for this beautiful devotion. SOME GOOD NEWS ON COVID – I'm sure all of you have been keeping up with the news just like me and have seen the precipitous drop in Coronavirus cases in our country and especially here locally. Huntington Memorial Hospital has now just a fraction of the Covid patients they were treating a couple of months ago. New infections are way down. In addition, quite a few of our parishioners have received their vaccinations and this is increasing regularly. Father Martin and I have both already received our first shots and will soon receive the second ones. This past week our school teachers received their first shots and starting Monday our school returns to in person learning for most grades (except junior high) 4 days a week. Hopefully we will be back to full in person learning for all grades in the near future. I'm also noticing that several of our parishioners who had not been able to attend Mass in person are now returning following their vaccinations. This is all great news. Let us keep praying that this pandemic situation may soon come to an end. Meanwhile, please continue to follow the Covid protocols. PARISH MISSION
Father Serge Propst, O.P.
Born of strict Southern Baptist parents in Aiken, S.C. on January 4, 1942, Father Propst
was raised in South Carolina, New Jersey, and Tennessee. He attended the University
of South Carolina, from which he graduated in 1960 with a G.S. Degree in Biology. He
converted the Catholic faith in 1963 and served four years in the Navy as an electronic
technician. He entered the Dominican Novitiate at Winona, Minnesota in 1967 for the
Western Province, and after completing his studies, Fr. Propst was ordained in 1973.
Currently he divides his time between preaching for the Western Province and teaching
at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology.

MISION PARROQUIAL – Este año tendremos nuestra Misión Parroquial durante la Cuaresma para ayudarnos todos a renovarnos espiritualmente durante esta temporada privilegiada. En esta ocasión la Misión será dirigida por nuestro propio Padre Martin Rodriguez. La Misión tomará lugar en ultima semana de la Cuaresma, marzo 22 a 25. Cada noche comenzaremos con la Misa de 6:30 p.m. en la iglesia y después seguimos con la conferencia espiritual del Padre Martin. Espero que todos puedan aprovechar de esta oportunidad de renovación espiritual. Marquen sus calendarios desde ahora. VÍA CRUCIS – Estoy muy complacido con la asistencia a nuestras Estaciones de los viernes hasta ahora y anímo a todos a que dediquen tiempo. El Hospital Huntington Memorial tiene ahora solo una fracción de los pacientes de Covid que estaban tratando hace un par de meses. Las nuevas infecciones están disminuyendo. Además, algunos de nuestros feligreses han recibido sus vacunas y esto aumenta regularmente. El Padre Martín y yo ya hemos recibido nuestras primeras inyecciones y pronto recibiremos las segundas. La semana pasada, nuestros maestros de la escuela recibieron sus primeras vacunas y, a partir del lunes, nuestra escuela regresa al aprendizaje en persona para la mayoría de los grados (excepto la secundaria) 4 días a la semana. Ojalá volvamos al aprendizaje completo en persona para todos los grados en un futuro próximo. También me doy cuenta de que varios de nuestros feligreses que no habían podido asistir a Misa en persona ahora están regresando después de sus vacunas. Todas estas son buenas noticias.
