Information for Buyers AUCTION START: 11am Sunday 2nd September INSPECTIONS: Saturday 1st September 2 - 4 pm & from 8am on Sale day. Prospective buyers inspecting on farm on the Saturday are welcome to leave floats overnight. REGISTRATION: All prospective buyers must register at the Landmark Buyer Registration Office on site prior to auction. Terms are strictly cash unless prior arrangements have been made with the auctioneers. TRANSPORT: Buyers should make their own transport arrangements prior to the auction. DELIVERY: Will be at the conclusion of the sale. Those animals purchased through phone bidding can remain on farm for up to 7 days post auction so that buyers can arrange transport. INSURANCE: Representatives of insurance companies will be in attendance or recommended on sale day. Dispersal Sale
A fter 25 years breeding alpacas it is time for a new direction in life.
My journey started with my mum Kate, buying an alpaca and then
being involved in showing. Together with her husband Robbie, they were
very successful with their stud Blackgate Lodge Alpacas, breeding many
champions. Whilst I shared their passion for alpacas I had a different
preference for colour, they were mainly white.
In 2005 I decided to ‘give back’ to the industry and thought I would
give judging a go. The judges ‘school’ was not quite what I expected
and was three days of being tested on our knowledge of alpacas and
fleece – it was very stressful. Thankfully though, I was selected to begin
my apprenticeship as a AAA judge. This took a little longer than expected
as during this time I married and had two beautiful children. I have been
judging shows in Australia and NZ ever since.
My passion has always been coloured alpacas, especially the appaloosa
and fancy’s - what I thought of as the underdogs of the alpaca industry.
I campaigned for quite a length of time to have these stunning alpacas
recognised and appreciated to the same extent as all other alpacas at
shows. I still believe these animals are the starting point for many in the
industry as almost all breeders began with a coloured alpaca and the
more unusual the better.
Today my family is my new passion and I feel a need to put all my
energies into them. I want to do more and support them better as they
grow into lovely young people.
The animals today represent 25 years of trying to improve the coloured
alpaca. All animals are presented in the best of health with drenching,
toes, vaccinations, injections and teeth all attended to in August. I
have retained the old, infirm and insane as these animals deserve a
retirement and a peaceful end on land they are familiar with.
Some animals are reserved, most are not. I have been purposefully
keeping my breeding season to a limited number of weeks so animals
that are not pregnant just did not conceive or were not ready to mate in
my specific time frame.

to look at on the day which include, fleece tests, fleece weights, fleece
samples, show results and breeding records for the years they have
been on farm.

For more fun……..
A rcadian Alpacas was begun in late 1994 and in the ensuing years
we have had a lot of success and met some very good people.
We consider ourselves fortunate to meet Jo Ham and her family and
have become great friends. When Jo said she was dispersing her herd
by auction, there was a moment of sadness quickly followed by the
decision to include a group of our own animals. We have been selling
down our numbers slowly and the opportunity to offer a bigger group by
auction appealed. Although we’re not completely ceasing our breeding,
we now have other exciting things to spend more of our time on !
Given the logistics of moving animals to Trawalla for the auction day,
our numbers are limited and we have intentionally selected only proven
stud males, all with good show histories, plus young, proven breeding
females, most with female crias at foot.
All the Arcadian animals have ‘reserved’ prices but genuine buyers can
bid in confidence that the reserves are extremely realistic for the market.
Prior to auction all the Arcadian animals offered will
• have all their husbandry & injections up to date
• be tested by faecal egg count for intestinal parasites & treated where
necessary

a superb amount of bone and is very well covered.
He is a winner of multiple classes across the age

proportion of grey breeding in her pedigree.

Honeysuckle has a wonderfully soft handling fleece
with excellent brightness. She carries an evenness
of character across her correct frame and exhibits

not be sold so his genetics will be rare. She is
