Sixth Form University
Destinations
2021
It goes without saying that we are incredibly proud of every student’s achievement in our Sixth
Form, whatever their particular, specific strengths.
As a fully inclusive, comprehensive school that makes the difference for all its children, this also ex-
tends to our Sixth Form culture. As a consequence, we offer a range of different courses and levels to
uniquely match the strengths and interests of almost all our students once they have completed their
GCSE exams. Our Sixth Form has a community feel to it: teachers know the students well and know
how to get the best from them. The culture is one of support, kindness and encouragement. Consist-
ently working hard to reach one’s potential is a prime motivator. It really is ACE (Achievement, Com-
mitment and Excellence) in action.
Many of our boys choose A levels in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) but we also
offer a wide range of interesting Level 3/A level subjects like Art & Design, Creative Digital Media and
Psychology and Criminology, alongside traditional, facilitating subjects such as Geography, History,
Spanish and French. We also offer a range of GCSE level 2 subjects for those students who perhaps require a little more
time for a particular subject to ‘fall into place’. For these students, we offer a year’ s ‘breathing
space’ to grow and mature in a safe and happy environment before they then choose to take up
Level 3 subjects or move to college, an apprenticeship or full time employment.
On Tuesday 10 August, students came into school to receive their A level/ Level 3 results and find
out if they had got the grades they needed to secure their university places. Despite public exams
being cancelled due to Covid, every student had worked their hardest, taking a wide and challenging
range of internally assessed exams which were carefully marked, moderated and submitted to the
exam boards by their dedicated teachers.
As you can see by the photos, our students were absolutely thrilled with their results and over 90%
secured their first choice place at University. In addition to this, we feel particularly proud of the di-
versity of subjects that our students will be studying, from History & Politics, Biochemistry, Forensic
Investigation, Nursing and Optometry to Actuarial Science , Film & Screen Studies, Aerospace
Engineering and Computer Science.
We wish all our Sixth Form Leavers –whatever they plan to do –the very best of
luck for the future!
