SPRING & SUMMER 2021 PROGRAM & TRAINING GUIDE - Programs and Events for Girls and Volunteer Trainings
How to Use this Guide
This guide is filled with fun and challenging activities designed to help girls earn badges, meet other Girl Scouts,
and try new things while being immersed in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. These activities are offered by
our program team, community partners, area associations, service units, and other troops. Volunteers can gain
knowledge at training events planned throughout the council and online. The Online Activities Calendar is your
online source for the most up to date information when looking for trainings or something to do as a troop, with a
friend, or as a family. Check it often for updates!

    Patch of the Month
Looking for some additional fun activities for your troop or just to do on your own? Each month girls can
Discover, Connect, and Take Action in a specific subject area. Hands-on activities are available for all Girl Scout
levels and can be done at meetings, as a pre-meeting activity, or as an at-home project.
Patch of the Month programs provide Girl Scouts an opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities while earning a fun
patch. Completing patch programs can help complete a Journey and may satisfy requirements for certain badges.
It's not necessary to complete the patch programs in the months specified–they can be completed at any time!

    Civic Engagement
Girl Scouts aims to inspire girls to use their voices and be advocates for the issues and ideas important to them.
We encourage each girl to lead positive change through civic action and form her own ideas, opinions, beliefs, and
political ideology. Look for the highlighted purple titles which indicate programs with civic engagement content.

    Global Engagement
Girls can engage with global issues at every program level. Look for the highlighted blue titles which indicate
programs with global content. Check out the Global Action toolkit for global activities to do with your troop or on
    your own at gskentuckiana.org/global.

    Family Engagement
Everyone wants the girls in your troop to have fun, be inspired, take risks, and learn about themselves and the
world, including their families. Families can be involved beyond membership in many ways. Look for the green
titles outlining events open to girls and their families.

    COVID Guidance
The health and safety of our Girl Scout community and beyond is our top priority. All in-person programs and
events are subject to change based on guidance from the CDC, Kentucky Department for Public Health, and the
Indiana State Department of Health. All in-person programs will continue to adhere to guidelines which ensure
the safety of our members, families, community partners, and staff. For GSK’s COVID guidance please visit

SPRING & SUMMER 2021 PROGRAM & TRAINING GUIDE - Programs and Events for Girls and Volunteer Trainings
Learning by Earning
Through “learning by earning,” girls discover the power within to do amazing things for themselves and for their
community through the development of these five essential skills: goal setting, decision making, money
management, people skills, and business ethics.

             Cookie Program
             (December-March)
By selling cookies, your Girl Scout is part of the largest girl-led business in the world! The famous
Girl Scout Cookie Program is a tradition that troops, girls, and families can all enjoy. Troops earn a
profit from all sales, and girls have the opportunity to set goals and earn awesome individual and
troop rewards! Troops earn money to fund their troop adventures as well as many programmatic
incentives. During door-to-door and in-person sales, girls improve their interpersonal and
communication skills. Virtual and video training opportunities are available for adults.

Superpower her cookie sales as she goes beyond the booth
with mobile and online channels. Digital Cookie is a fun,
educational tool that helps her run and manage her Girl
Scout Cookie business online. She can set her cookie goals,
track her progress, manage orders and inventory, learn
Internet safety skills—and more! Learn more at
             gskentuckiana.org/cookieresources.

Earn Badges During the Cookie Season!
Your Girl Scout can earn her Cookie Business and Financial Literacy badges, as well as her Cookie
Entrepreneur Family pins for every year she participates in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. To find
             out how visit bit.ly/cookiebadgespins.

             Fall Product Program
             (September-November)
Participating in the Fall Product Program is a great way to earn start-up funds for uniforms and
unique, amazing experiences for your troop! The troop profit for the Fall Product Program has
increased to at least 20% of gross sales. Girls also have the chance to earn awesome individual
rewards and learn valuable entrepreneurial skills. This program is very easy to do online and
includes lots of great interactive features for girls, as well as training for adults!

                                                     Create an Avatar!
Your Girl Scout can create an avatar that looks like her while
participating in the awesome Fall Product Program! She can
also record a personalized message for her avatar to deliver
to friends and family. As she sets up and personalizes her
site, she will earn virtual rewards!
