Students have enjoyed learning about the characters, making masks and using Google Earth to visit Venice and find historical landmarks and locations. This Friday we celebrate Carnevale as a community. We invite parents and caregivers to join us in the yard for some traditional Italian music and be part of the mask parade. Remember to dress in green, white and red and be ready to have lots of fun!! Look forward to seeing you all on Friday 19th of March! Vicky Radetti, Italian Teacher

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Last Friday, despite the warmer weather St Patrick’s School held its annual School Sport’s Day.
The day ran smoothly, although a little overtime. The children came to school excited and ready
to begin their day. It was wonderful to have parents attend our Sport’s Day this year, even though
some restrictions had to remain. All students are to be congratulated for giving their best effort
on the day and the way they encouraged each other. I would like to thank Ms Nicole Johnson for
all her preparation and hard work in making the day a success. Her commitment to providing the
children at St Patrick's the opportunity to take part in many sporting events is to be commended.
CONGRATULATIONS to Ajong, Kyle, Aluel and Mohammed who were our age champions in Year 5
and 6.
CONGRATULATIONS to the RED Team who were the overall winners of Sports Day.
In Week 9, we are holding our Parent/Student/Teacher Conversations. It is important that all
students have at least one parent attend to discuss the learning and well being of their child.
Before school and a late evening session are being offered to make more times available for
working parents. Bookings for this event are online this year and many notifications have gone
home explaining the process. If you are unsure how to do this, please speak to the Front Office
Staff or your child’s class teacher who can help you. We look forward to speaking to every parent
next week.
Each Diocesan Catholic School is required to have a School Board, who has responsibility for the
overall wellbeing of its school. In practice, this means that, in a spirit of partnership, Boards act as
advisory capacity to the Principal. This year our School Board Members are:

From our LEADERSHIP TEAM Single use plastics From the 1st of March the SA Government has banned single-use plastics. If you child needs cutlery to eat their lunch, you will need to provide them with cutlery from home as the canteen is no longer able to provide them with plastic cutlery.

St Patrick’s Day
Wednesday, 17th March, is St Patrick’s Day. On his feast day, we celebrate St Patrick’s
Mission and remember the deep faith St Patrick had in God. St Patrick was able to
recognise God’s presence in his life even when he was captured, living as a slave and
felt powerless. It was in his darkest times that God’s love gave him strength, courage
and hope for a brighter future. Once St Patrick was free, he dedicated his life to
teaching the people of Ireland about God’s love. St Patrick’s story of faith inspires us to recognise the light
of God’s presence in and around us. St Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity: God’s
eternal existence in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; the three are one God.
Harmony Day
Today we once again celebrated St Patrick’s School’s cultural diversity and our belief that
‘EVERYONE BELONGS AT ST PATRICK’S SCHOOL’. We began the celebrations in the hall with Mass and
followed that with a colourful parade. Each student was asked to either wear their cultural clothing or
wear orange or green clothes and all looked amazing. Our Parents and Friends organised morning tea for
the patient parents who waited during Mass. Following the parade, students received some orange
treats. Throughout the day students participated in music workshops with Andrew Chinn and had a great
time learning the songs and singing the songs at the concert.
Special thanks to Nicole Davis, Gulnaz Motha and the other parents
who helped with morning tea. Also to Rosa Greco, Maria Crawford,
Marianna Kondrat and Jacqui Terryschild for organising jellies for the
students. It was a fantastic day and a wonderful way to celebrate
our St Patrick’s multicultural community.
Prayer for Harmony Day
You created all people in your image.
We thank you for the astonishing variety of races and cultures in Australia and in our community.
Enrich our lives by ever-widening circles of friendship, and show us your presence in those
who differ most from us.
Grant that we may always promote the justice and acceptance that ensures lasting
peace and racial harmony.
Grant that we may show equal respect to all persons of different cultures that we may come across.
And help us to remember and appreciate that we are one country, with many stories.
Amen.
Sacrament of Reconciliation Parent Meeting
Please remember the parent meeting on Tuesday, March 23 rd @ 7pm and Whitefriars’ School. One
parent/carer is asked to attend with the student involved in the program. At The meeting we will learn
more about the sacrament, its history and the sacredness of reconciliation. The workbooks will be given
out for students and families to work on at home and we will explain how to use the books. Parents/
carers will also be asked to choose a time for the Presentation Masses which will be held on the Sundays
of 5th and 16th May at 10.30am at St Margaret Mary’s or 11am at Mater Dei.

St Patrick’s School - Parents and Friends Committee
Members of the Parents and Friends Committee held their first meeting on Tuesday 16th February. We discussed and
planned several fundraising activities for the year and agreed to continue raising money for the Nature Play Space. We aim to
install a water pump, suitable for school play, as well as more activity boards in the space.
Our fundraising events involve:
• St Patrick’s Easter Raffle (Tickets will be going home soon)
• Mother’s and Father’s Day Gift Stalls
• Crows and Port power Show Down Donuts
• School Disco
• Supermarket Rewards
The Kick Start For Kids breakfasts continue each Friday morning. Thank you to Lisa Marie Lopresti and Di Tippett, Sam Eyre
and Cecilia Sherlock for helping with this so far this year. We would like to include more parents in the breakfast so if you
have the correct clearances and have completed your RAN training, please let us know if you can help out from 8.30 until
9.15am. Even if it’s every now and then, your help will be appreciated.
We are organising morning tea for families who are able to join us this morning (Wednesday 17th March) from 8.50 until the
parade on Harmony Day. We would love to see family members come along to enjoy some morning tea and spend time with
other family members of St Patrick’s School. Please return the reply slip and join us for the morning.
The Parents and Friends Committee meet once a term, usually in weeks 2 or 3, and welcome the input from our parent com-
munity. Please look for notices for meetings through Skool Bag and Facebook and join us. The money raised is for the benefit
of our children and it is a great way to meet parents from your child’s school.
This year our P & F will offering two Easter baskets with a collection
of goodies in each.

Rec – 2/3 students will receive a book of white coloured tickets.
Years 3/4 -5/6 students will receive a book of blue coloured tickets.
Each family will receive a book of 5 tickets @ $1.00 per ticket.
All proceeds will go towards P & F fundraising for 2021.
Please note there is no obligation for your family to buy all 5
tickets.
Please send the ticket butts with the money collected and any
unsold tickets to the front office by Wednesday 31st March.
Tickets will be sent home with children in 2 weeks.

SCHOOL CARD 2021
Welcome to our new & existing families.
This year and from now on School Card can be applied for online. St Patrick’s
School will require families to follow the process as set out below:
1. Please type in School Card 2021 online application into the internet
browser.
2. Click onto School Card Scheme
3. See Applications and then click on the downward arrow.
4. Click School Card form A -apply online
5. Complete the required areas and then press submit.
If you are unable to follow this process Chau our Community Worker will be
able to assist. This will be by appointment only on either a Tuesday or
Thursday morning starting from the 9th of February. Please come into the
front office to arrange a time to see Chau.
At this appointment you must bring your Centrelink or Healthcare card and
your own device; either your mobile phone or iPad.

Finance OfficerA letter from Catholic Education SA informing parents of students in Catholic schools about a
new initiative was posted on Skoolbag earlier this term. The South Australian Commission for
Catholic Schools has announced that it will make Catholic education more affordable for all by
lowering school fees in every Catholic diocesan primary school in 2021 under its Making
Catholic Education More Affordable initiative.
The exact level of fee reduction in each diocesan primary school will vary from school to school
to take into account the school’s circumstances and the needs of their families.
Our school has worked with Catholic Education SA to finalise our fees for 2021. To simplify
matters, there is only 1 fee which encompasses tuition fees and composite fees. Please find
attached the 2021 school fees schedule. If you have any queries, please contact the Bursar on

Kính thưa quý phụ huynh, giám hộ,
Thứ Sáu tuần trước, bất chấp thời tiết ấm áp hơn thường lệ, Trường St Patrick đã tổ chức Ngày Thể
thao Học đường hàng năm. Một ngày diễn ra xuông sẻ, tuy có hơi quá giờ. Các em đến trường hào
hứng và sẵn sàng bắt đầu một ngày mới. Thật tuyệt vời khi có cha mẹ tham dự Ngày hội thể thao
của chúng ta năm nay, tuy dù vẫn còn bị một số hạn chế. Tất cả học sinh đều đáng được ca ngợi vì
đã nỗ lực hết mình và cổ võ lẫn nhau. Xin cảm ơn cô Nicole Johnson vì đã nỗ lực chuẩn bị để ngày
này thành công. Xin khen ngợi tinh thần kiên định của cô nhằm giúp cung cấp cho các em học sinh
trường St Patrick có cơ hội tham gia các sự kiện thể thao.

Trong Tuần 9, chúng tôi sẽ tổ chức các cuộc trao đổi giữa Phụ huynh / Học sinh / Giáo viên. Điều
quan trọng là tất cả học sinh phải có ít nhất một phụ huynh tham dự để thảo luận về việc học tập và
phúc lợi của con em mình. Có những buổi gặp gỡ trước giờ học hay vào buổi tối để tạo nhiều thời
gian hơn cho những phụ huynh đi làm. Năm nay, quý vị cũng có thể sắp xếp gặp gỡ trực tuyến và
nhiều thông báo đã được gửi về nhà giải thích cách thức làm. Nếu quý vị cần giúp đỡ về cách thức
thực hiện trực tuyến (online), xin vui lòng hỏi nhân viên văn phòng hoặc giáo viên lớp của con em
quý vị. Chúng tôi mong muốn được tiếp xúc với tất cả các phụ huynh vào tuần tới.
Mỗi Trường Công giáo của Giáo phận bắt buộc phải có Hội Đồng Nhà Trường, bộ phận chịu trách
nhiệm về phúc lợi chung của trường mình. Thực tế, điều này có nghĩa là, trên tinh thần hợp tác, Hội
đồng Nhà Trường đóng vai trò tư vấn cho Hiệu trưởng. Năm nay, Thành viên Hội đồng Nhà
Trường của chúng ta gồm:

Từ ngày 1 tháng 3, Chính phủ Nam Úc đã cấm đồ nhựa sử dụng một lần. Nếu con em quý vị cần
muỗng dao để ăn trưa, quý vị sẽ phải cho các em mang từ nhà vì căng tin không được phép cung
cấp các vật dụng bằng nhựa cho các em.

Ngày lễ thánh Patrick
Thứ 4, ngày 17 tháng 3, là Ngày lễ kính Thánh Patrick. Vào ngày này, chúng ta kính nhớ Sứ mệnh
của Thánh Patrick và niềm tin sâu sắc của Ngài vào Chúa. Thánh Patrick đã nhận ra sự hiện diện
của Thiên Chúa trong đời mình ngay cả khi bị bắt, sống như một nô lệ và cảm thấy bất lực. Chính
trong thời kỳ đen tối nhất, tình yêu của Thiên Chúa đã tạo cho ngài sức mạnh, lòng can đảm và hy
vọng về một tương lai tươi sáng hơn. Khi Thánh Patrick được tự do, ngài đã dành cả cuộc đời mình
để loan truyền cho người dân Ái Nhĩ Lan về tình yêu của Thiên Chúa. Câu chuyện về đức tin của
Thánh Patrick truyền cảm hứng để chúng ta nhận ra ánh sáng về sự hiện diện của Chúa trong và
xung quanh chúng ta. Thánh Patrick đã sử dụng hình ảnh cây shamrock (ba lá)để giải thích mầu
nhiệm Chúa Ba Ngôi: Sự tồn tại vĩnh cửu của Thiên Chúa trong Ba Ngôi: Chúa Cha, Chúa Con và
Chúa Thánh Thần; cả ba chỉ là một Thiên Chúa.

Hôm nay, chúng ta tôn vinh tính văn hóa đa dạng của Trường St Patrick, chúng ta tin rằng ‘TẤT
CẢ ĐỀU LÀ MỘT TẠI ST PATRICK’S SCHOOL’. Bắt đầu bằng thánh lễ trong hội trường, sau
đó là một cuộc diễn hành đầy màu sắc. Mỗi học sinh được kêu gọi mặc quốc phục hoặc mặc
quần áo màu cam hay xanh lá cây. Thật tuyệt vời. Hội Bạn Phụ Huynh tổ chức tiệc trà sáng. Sau
cuộc diễn hành, các học sinh nhận được các phần quà màu cam. Trong suốt cả ngày, học sinh đã
tham gia các buổi trình diễn âm nhạc với Andrew Chinn và học các bài hát.
Đặc biệt cảm ơn Nicole Davis, Gulnaz Motha và những phụ huynh khác đã giúp cho buổi tiệc trà
sáng. Cũng xin cám ơn Rosa Greco, Maria Crawford, Marianna Kondrat and Jacqui Terryschild
đã làm thạch cho học sinh.
Bí tích Hòa giải - Họp Phụ huynh
Xin nhắc nhớ cuộc họp phụ huynh vào Thứ Ba, ngày 23 tháng 3 lúc 7 giờ tối tại trường White-
friars. Ít nhất Một phụ huynh / người chăm sóc cần phải tham dự cùng với học sinh đang tham
gia vào chương trình này. Tại buổi họp, chúng ta sẽ tìm hiểu thêm về Tiệc Thánh, lịch sử và sự
thiêng liêng trong bí tích hòa giải. Sách bài tập sẽ được phát cho học sinh và gia đình làm ở nhà,
chúng tôi sẽ giải thích cách sử dụng sách. Cha mẹ / người chăm sóc cũng sẽ được yêu cầu chọn
thời gian cho Thánh lễ Tiến Cử sẽ được tổ chức vào Chủ nhật của ngày 5 và ngày 16 tháng 5 lúc
10:30 sáng tại St Margaret Mary hoặc 11 giờ sáng tại Mater Dei.
