have the great pleasure to welcome you to participate in the 1st
Bulgarian (stand alone) Senior Championship which will take
place from the 9th to 11th September 2021
A WAGR ranking Event
THE COURSE
Lighthouse Golf Course is designed by the famous ex-Ryder Cup Captain - Ian
Woosnam. The championship golf course is of a “links” design. Contributing to the
stunning scenery are the outstanding natural landscapes around which Ian Woosnam
has created a brilliant selection of holes. The golf course offers an exciting challenge to
both professional players and amateurs alike. All of whom are most welcome to test
their skills.
In 2018 Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort hosted the European Tour Properties Senior
Classic and welcomed golf professionals from all over the world at the age of 50 and
over, led by world-renowned Ian Woosnam, winner of the US Masters 1991 and
designer of Lighthouse Golf Course. The tournament was the only one of its kind in the
world and culminated in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the golf course,
opened in September 2008.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Format
There will be two main Championships – Seniors Mens & Ladies 50+ and Seniors
Ladies & Gentlemen 60+. Handicap limit - 9 for Men and 12 for Ladies. And one
Stableford Championship - Gold Plate for players 10 - 19 Handicap.
• The Senior Championships shall be decided over 54 holes Medal Gross
• The Ladies & Gentlemen Championships shall be decided over 54 holes Medal Gross
• The Gold Plate Championship shall be decided over 54 holes Ne Stableford
Winners will receive a complimentary package for Accommodation and Entry Fee for
the 2nd edition of the Bulgarian Senior Championship in May 2022
There will be a prize for the best nett score in both Championships

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
1. Competitor must be an amateur as defined by the current Rules of Amateur Status.
2. The minimum entry age of the senior should be 50 years old as of 0:00 hrs. on Day 1 of
the Championship. The minimum entry age of the Ladies & Gentlemen should be 60
years old as of 0:00 hrs. on Day 1 of the Championship.
3. Format of the competition
• The Senior Championship shall be decided over 54 holes Medal Gross;
• The Ladies & Gentlemen Championship shall be decided over 54 holes Medal Gross.
• The Gold Plate Championship shall be decided over 54 holes Nett Stableford.
4. There will be a Trophy for:
• 1st,2nd & 3rd Gross place in all championships and for 1st Nett place. In the Gold Plate
Championship there will be Trophy for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place Nett.
5. In the event of applications exceeding the maximum players, all entries shall be
decided by ballot, preference given to lower handicaps, which shall take place
immediately after the closing date for entries. All unsuccessful entrants will be informed
without delay thereafter.
6. Competitors are allowed to use buggy during the Championship.
7. Any player with medical certi cate receives priority in booking a buggy. Copy of the
medical certi cate should be send with the request for booking a buggy 3 weeks before
the tournament.
8. The competitors in both Championships who tie for the rst place shall play a hole by

hole (sudden death) play-o to determine the winner.

9. Any competitor who is not present at their rst Tee when called upon to start shall be
fi
disquali ed. 10. The Tournament Commi ee reserves the right to set and/or alter
ff
starting times.
11. Participants are obliged to use golf balls and driving clubs, that are listed as
fi
conforming with the Rules of Golf on the R&A Rules Limited web-site www.randa.org;

12. A competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance.
Should a competitor show clinical evidence of use of drug for a non – therapeutic
purpose, the Commi ee may require him to undergo a drug test. Any competitor
infringing this condition may be disquali ed.
13. Pace of Play condition will apply.
14. The Championship Commi ee reserves the right to vary the Championship
Conditions if it is necessary.

16. Entrants from outside Bulgaria shall provide a HCP certi cate issued by the
authority under the handicapping system adopted in the country from which he has
entered.
17. The Championship Commi ee reserves the right to disquali any competitor

making a false statement on his entry form.
18. The completed and signed entry form must be received by the ‘Bulgarian Golf

Association’ not later than Friday, 3 September 2021.
19. All disputes must be referred to the Head Referee who will resolve them by use of
the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. If it is
not possible to resolve a dispute, the Head Referee will place it before the
Championship and Rules Commi ee and its decision shall be nal.
