IRON COMPLETE JAKE SCRIMSHAW LOAN SIGNING
Scunthorpe United is delighted to have completed the signing of
striker Jake Scrimshaw on a season-long loan from Championship
 side Bournemouth.
The 20-year-old’s move to the Sands Venue Stadium is subject to
EFL ratification and he will take the No 18 shirt. The forward joined
Bournemouth in 2015 and has since experienced time out on loan
with Poole Town, Eastleigh and, more recently, fellow Sky Bet League
Two outfits Walsall and Newport County, where he made ten starts in
 total and scored five goals.
First team manager Neil Cox told iFollow Iron: “We’re over the
moon to get him in. It’s been a long one and that’s understandable as
things have to be done right, and he’s been involved in their squads and playing games.
“He’s a centre forward who wants to play on the shoulder and run in behind, and wants to be in
the penalty box to score goals. We’ll be patient with him and encourage him but I’m sure he’ll be
 an excellent signing for us.”

IRON PICK UP FIRST POINT OF SEASON
AT ROCHDALE

Saturday.
The Dale had the better chances of the first
half as Jake Beesley’s turn and shot was kept
out by Rory Watson, while a diving header from
George Broadbent flew inches wide of the

Dale goalkeeper Jay Lynch was on hand when
Lewis Thompson smashed an effort towards the
roof of his net but the best opportunity of the
opening 45 minute fell to Danny Cashman five
minutes before the interval, with Watson saving
superbly at point blank range. UNDER-18S MAKE IT BACK-TO-BACK

Good afternoon, and welcome to this game again Sutton United. It’s
especially pleasurable to welcome all connected with Sutton in their
first season in the EFL. Let’s hope they enjoy the experience, and
make many happy memories. Sutton is just next door to where I was
                             born, in Epsom.
I’m sure all connected with Scunthorpe don’t want another season
like the last one. From what we’ve seen so far, the omens look more
promising. The squad seems to be pulling together, and playing
better football. Two away draws have boosted morale, and a
90th-minute goal is always a shot in the arm. Many new players
have come in, and we look to them, together with those left from last
season, to push on up the table.
Mention was made in the last programme about Kev, the former
groundsman; Kev was always a gentle man with a very dry sense of humour. He loved comparing
his surname, Cumming, with his near namesake, Dominic Cummings, of Barnard Castle ill-repute!
Pearl is no longer a daily fixture in the club shop but we will still see her on matchdays. She
was the public face of the Iron for many, many years, and will be missed in her role as shop
                             manager.

Enjoy the game; up the Iron!
With all good wishes, Rev Alan. Club Chaplain
