The Indian subcontinent is known for its
rich tapestry and the various influences
its history has on the design and pres-
entation of clothing and jewellery. Visits
to some of these landmarks will aid the
creator in their study and research of
understanding different styles, learning
the intricacies of design and its produc-
tion, and networking with stalwarts who
have transformed how the world sees
Indian traditional jewellery. Set in Jaipur,
this pillar will prepare the creators for the
next stage in the Intensive.

19th August 2018
Our first day started with a brief
video conference with Katerina
Perez, who talked about the the
importance of passion in work and
how to stand out . It was a nice
warm up start of the impressive
journey that we were about to take.
Then we had a session with Mr.
Gaurav Mehta about his journey
of creating “The Jaipur Watch
Company’. This story was a perfect
example of the power of destiny
and how it has planned everything
for us, and ultimately all the dots will
join.This was then proceeded with a
watchmaking demonstration of the
classic coin watch of ‘The Jaipur
Watch Company’.

20th August 2018
Our day started with a visit
to the RMC Gems India Ltd. ,
which is a gemstone cutting and
polishing factory. It was amusing
to see this process where a rough
stone develops to a priceless
gemstone. We even got to see some
fascinating gemstones.
The day succeed with an interaction
with Sunita Shekhawat in her Jaipur
showroom, which gave such a
personalised and homely feel, which
justified her believe of personal
connections with her clients. Here
she opened up her journey in
the industry thought us the art of
enjoying struggles.

Jaipur
21th August 2018
It was an Amrapali day! We first
visited to the Amrapali Jewellery
factory, where saw how a jewellery is
manufactured and the highlight was
knowing the kundan and meenakari
process.
The day was followed by visit to
a curated tour of The Amrapali
Museum, which was followed by
an interactive session with Mr.
Tarang Arora, who enlightened us
of Amrapali’s history and how the
brand has evolved.

22th August 2018
We had a curated tour of Gyan
Museum with Mr Akhil Dhaddha and
Mr. Sakhil Dhaddha , here we saw
a marvellous collection of antiques
that were collected by Mr. Gyan
Chand Dhaddha. This was then
followed by seeing some private
collection and jewels, which was truly
priceless experience.
Then we visited to the Museum of
Gems and Jewellery, where we say
and awed upon all the possible
gemstones on earth.

23st August 2018
It was the last but not the least day
in Jaipur , It all packed up with a
visit to Golecha Jewels, Where we
were warmly greeted by Mr. Vijay
Golecha. Here we saw the cutting
and polishing of Emeralds. We
even saw a dazzling collection of
enchanting emeralds and jewellery
possessed by Mr. Vijay Golecha.

A trade that goes back eons, jewellery
has had the power to make or break
empires. The second pillar of the
Intensive will equip the creators with
the understanding of how trade works
in the industry. Learn from the best, put
to test your learning from earlier tasks,
network with those who have established
themselves and created your own name/
brand. With a boom in e-commerce,
jewellery has now gone beyond its
traditional boundaries of presentation
and sale. You will learn and accomplish
tasks that will educate you about what
it takes to to present to the old world
and the new.

The Sessions in Mumbai started with
an interactive conversation with
Srimoyi Bhattacharya of Peepul. The
conversation was all about ‘Public
Relations’ and its importance. It was
a very informative session where we
learnt the basics of Public Relations.
Then we proceed to GIA where we
interacted with Nirupa Bhatt, who
enriched and inspired us through her
journey. She taught a very important
lesson of not giving up and keep
knocking doors to us.

Mumbai
25st August 2018
This was a power packed day,
first we visited Anand Shah’s
workshop, where we got to see some
outstanding Indian jewellery, every
piece was like a wearable sculpture.
One of the most important lessons
he taught us is that we should
respect our artisans and give them
their credits.
Then we went to the home studio
of Shachee Fine Jewellery, where
we met its founder Shachee who
showed us the priceless jewellery
crafted by her own hands. The
jewellery pieces were supreme
example of passion and hard work.

26st August 2018
We visited Mr. Anil Bharwani’s studio,
where he affectionately showed his
collection of peacock jewellery. It
was commendable to see the many
ways in which a peacock can be
represented and converted into
a jewellery. This visit was a surprise
for us. Then we went for a Bandra
jewellery market survey, where we
explored jewellery and spotted
trends of jewellery.

27th August 2018
It was a very power packed day,
it started with video interactive
session with Shreyas V. Cotha of
C. Krishna Chetty, where he talked
about the various aspects of a
family business that is running since
generations.
This was then followed by a video
interactive session with Pallavi
Foley, who talked her journey from a
designer to a jewellery label that is
purely based on design.
The highlight of the day was a
conversation with Farah Khan Ali,
who shared her story of how she
developed her name into a brand.
She even taught us some key
aspects that one should have in
their personality.

28th August 2018
It was our last day in Mumbai, and
it ended with a video interactive
session with Mithun Sacheti CEO of
Caratllane. It was an eye opening
interactions that made us think in a
different direction, the direction that
a made us realise how important
data analysis is and the way in
which we can harness it.

The metals and gems unearthed
from deep within, are only a fraction
of its true potential. Its real beauty
is unearthed by great design and
thought process of presentation. Learn
the intricacies of the global jewellery
industry, the art of doing good business
with global names, meet and understand
from those who have created a unique
style and persona of their own in an
industry peppered with so many players.
This leg of the Intensive will take place in
London.

29th August 2018
In London, our first session was
with our mentor Katerina Perez,
who shared with us her journey of
becoming a jewellery influential.
She even threw light upon the
importance of social media and how
to manage it. The understanding
of the power of social media and
how to use it to your benifit was a
crucial learning.

30th August 2018
We had a private tour of two
exhibitions ‘Diana: Her Fashion
Story’ and ‘Victoria Revealed’ at
Kensington Palace. The exhibition
displayed the private collection of
Princess Diana and Queen Victoria
simultaneously.
Then we had an interactive
session with the design director of
Annoushka Jewellery- Liz Oliver. She
made us realise that jewellery is a
360 degree affair and detailing
and finishing is very crucial in
jewellery.
We even went to Harrods, where
we got the opportunity of going
through all the high jewellery brands.

Our morning started with an
interactive session with Tomasz
Donocik, who gave us inputs on
various aspects of the business that
we are in and how to stand out
in it, he even shared his story, that
included his mistakes and how he
learnt from them.
Then we visited to Philippe Pfiffer’s
workshop, where we had interactive
session with him and he showed
us all the masterpieces that he
had crafted. His workshop had an
enchanting environment, just like a
magic shop.

Then we we’re led to Azza Fahmy,
where we greeted humbly by
Marquita Bowen , and she shared
her experience with the brand and
how has the brand evolved. Her
emphasis on ‘building and growing
upon your roots’ was the key
learning for us.
The highlight of the day was our visit
to Van Clef & Arpels, where we got
a chance to feel and wear there
jewellery. We got to see some of the
most exuberant pieces that have
ever been created.

1st September 2018
Our day started with a private tour
of the Victoria and Albert museum,
where we saw a whole chronology
of important jewellery that has
ever been created in history. Then
we visited to the ‘Splendours of
The Subcontinent’ exhibition where
we saw some of the excellent
Indian miniature paintings and
craftsmanship.
Then we went to see the crown
jewels, that are displayed in the
Tower of London. We saw some of
the most precious diamonds like ‘The
Cullinan’ and ‘The Kohinoor’. It was a
moment of pride to see The Kohinoor
that rested in the crown of the
queen. We were just charmed by the
the glamour of these diamonds.

2nd September 2018
We visited IJL (International
Jewellery London) show. This was
a bonus experience for us as it
was an instant plan. Here we got
the chance to see different kind
of jewellery, materials , techniques
and concepts. It was a very nice
exposure for us.

3rd September 2018
This was our last day but not least.
We started it by a guided tour to
the London Assay Office, where we
learnt the process and importance
of hallmarking.
Then we went to Rebus Signet Rings,
here we saw the art of making them
and discovered that these rings are
wearable signature of a person and
they were used as seals in the past.
Our sessions ended with Pino at
his workshop. He threw light upon
his life experiences and advised
us to specialise in a field and be
passionate about it.
