historic formularies the Thirty Nine Articles of Religion, the Book of Common
Prayer and the Ordering of Bishops, Priests and Deacons. In the declaration

5Ministry of the Word
A Bible Reading from John 15: 9-11 read by Catriona Gundlach, Office Manager and
Training Coordinator
‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If
you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my
Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy
may be in you and that your joy may be complete.’
This is the word of the Lord.
All Thanks be to God
A short reflection is shared by the Bishop
The Intercessions
A time of prayer led by the Revd David McCoulough
The Collect of the day is said
Almighty God,
who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ
has overcome death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life:
grant that, as by your grace going before us
you put into our minds good desires,
so by your continual help
we may bring them to good effect;
through Jesus Christ our risen Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.
Rejoicing in God’s new creation,
as our Saviour taught us, so we pray
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
6Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
The Blessing
The Bishop blesses the new Chaplains saying:
God, who through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ has given us the
victory,
give you courage, wisdom, strength and love to do his will:
and the blessing of God almighty
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
Amen
Welcomes are extended to Monika, Alan and James, led by the Revd Andrew Keith on behalf of
Nottingham University Hospitals.
The Dismissal
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
