College Hotel School hosts Inter-Campus
WorldSkills 2018 Competition

W     aterberg TVET College Hotel School hosted an inter-campus
      competition for the international WorldSkills competition. The event
was held to showcase the skills of the hospitality students, focusing on
restaurant and cooking skills.
     The cooking skills category had four competitors. They were judged
based on their vegetable cutting and prawn preparation. Their skills
were meticulously judged according to set standards. The Restaurant
Skills Category was judged on four main skillsets of which one was Wine
Identification. For this skillset the students had to smell the wine, observe
it and be able to identify its origin. Another skillset, Napkin Folds, requires
that the students do ten different napkin folds. The other skillsets were
Restaurant Table Setting and Silver Service.
