What is post secondary
           Education?
   Apprenticeship – learn a skilled trade with experienced
    workers AND learn in a classroom from instructors who
    know the trade.
   College – applied learning opportunities
    Students can earn a:

✓   Diploma
✓   Applied Degrees/University degrees
   University – theoretical/professional learning
    opportunities
✓   General degrees – 3 years
✓   Honours degrees – 4 years

Important Dates for College
Applications
  Apply by February 1st for equal
  consideration. Earliest release of offers.
  Transmission of marks from high schools
  ◦   October 6th – 1st transmission
  ◦   November 20th – Quad 1 marks
  ◦   February 5th – Quad 2 marks
  ◦   April 23rd – Quad 3 marks
  ◦   May 1st - must confirm acceptance
  ◦   June 2021 – colleges require tuition deposit
  ◦   July 2nd - final marks
  ◦   August 13th - proof of graduation

How to Apply to College

   Create an account at Ontariocolleges.ca – this
    account will allow you to apply to any of Ontario’s 26
    colleges

   Application processing fee is $95. This fee allows
    you up to 5 program choices (no more than 3 at any one
    college)
   When we have you flagged in our school electronic
    system as a college applicant, your courses and
    marks(transcript) will be transmitted to OCAS (Ontario
    College Academic Services)

         requirements
You need six Grade 12 U/M
 credits including:
ENG    4U
Plus 5 other M or U level
 courses.
You must be sure you have
 the prerequisites for the
 program you are choosing.

Students must advise their counsellor they wish
to apply so a PIN number can be generated.

University Application Fees
 It costs $150 to apply to Ontario Universities
                  through OUAC.
            You can select 3 programs.
    It costs $50 for each additional program.
(If you submit then make changes you will be charged $50 for each change.)

You can apply to as many schools as you want
          but it costs more $$$$.
Important Dates for University
              Application
November – pin #’s generated
January 15th – University application deadline!!!!
November 5th – first transmission
November 20th – transmission Quad 1 marks
February 11th – transmission of Quad 2 marks
April 22nd – transmission of Quad 3 marks
May 29th– last date to expect a response from a
university.
June 1st – earliest date universities may request a
financial commitment
July 6th – transmission of marks
August 31st – transmission of proof of graduation

TISS Commencement Awards (applications available in
early April) fall under two categories

➢   1. Recipients chosen by TISS staff (one application
    form)
➢   2. Recipients chosen by donor requiring separate
    applications
      •   TISS awards chosen by the donor
      •   Regional awards chosen by the donor
      (each award chosen by a donor has its own application
      form)
