Welcome to Columbia’s
 2020 Puttin’ On The Hits
(A Lip Sync Performance/Contest for 5th and 6th grade students at Columbia)

The following guidelines are put in place to ensure an organized and entertaining
family show. The most important fact we want everyone to keep in mind is this is
FUN, and it is for the kids to show their imagination and creativity. We want ALL
of these students to build their self-esteem, confidence, and to shine like stars for
the night. Have fun, and we wish all of your groups GOOD LUCK!

POTH 2020 – General Information
Puttin’ On The Hits is a lip sync competition for all students at CIS.

Students can form groups consisting of 3 to 7 friends from their respective grade. You may
have mixed grade groups, but for purposes of the competition, they will be competing in
the 6th grade category. Each student is only eligible to participate in one group.

It is mandatory that each group has a parent representative. They will be responsible for all
communications between the POTH Chairperson and their respective groups.

5th graders will compete against only 5th grade groups. The same is true for 6th graders. As
mentioned above, mixed grade groups will be competing in the 6th grade competition.

We encourage the students to be involved with the planning of their act. However, parent
support is greatly appreciated. While this is about the kids, parent oversight/assistance will
help the groups succeed.

Judges for the POTH show will be unbiased judges who have no connections to students
participating in the show. They will not be Kings Parents. In the past, we have used Kings
Board Members.

Questions can be directed to the POTH Committee at CISPOTH@gmail.com, or to
Courtney Stylski at 513-256-8527 or Jennifer Shultz at 513-652-7016.

POTH 2020 Song Selection
All songs used for POTH must contain “school appropriate” lyrics. All song lyrics will be
reviewed before approval will be given. Song mixes are allowed; however, they must be
of professional quality and are limited to 7 total songs. The quality of the mix could have
an impact on auditions.

Song declaration days begin Thursday, December 5th. Songs may be turned in at the main
office beginning at 8:30am. The last day to submit songs is Friday, December 13th. Songs
will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Only one person from each group will
need to submit the song. Only a copy of the lyrics must be turned in at that time as well.
Music can be turned in at a later date. If it is a mix, please provide the song titles, artists,
and a copy of the lyrics that will be in the mix. If the song submitted is declared
inappropriate, the parent representative will be contacted. You will then have the
opportunity to submit another song choice. Everyone will receive an e-mail by December
8th confirming their song choice has been accepted.

ONCE YOUR SONG IS ACCEPTED, IT CANNOT BE CHANGED!

Songs must not exceed 3.5 minutes in length.

IT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED THAT EACH GROUP HAS A
BACK-UP SONG IN CASE YOUR SONG IS ALREADY TAKEN OR
                    HAS BEEN DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE!
