Welcome to Worship - Grace Presbyterian Church
7th Sunday after Pentecost Week of Sunday, July 11, 2021

Welcome to Worship
A warm welcome to you as we gather together to lift our praise and prayers to God. Today we gather
from across Calgary and from places around Canada and the world to hear words of promised grace
proclaimed, to grow deeper in Grace’s vision of transforming lives through God’s grace, to reflect on
what it means to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ who love our neighbours and effect social change,
and live into our values of engagement, belonging, community, compassion, and service.

Opening Prayer
God, you call us to be your light in the darkness, your voice in the wilderness, your hope for
the hopeless. May this time move us closer toward making disciples and proclaiming more of
you and less of us. Amen.

Scripture
                                               Matthew 28:16-20
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed
them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and
said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And
remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Teaching and Reflection Rev. Maren McLean Persaud

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Closing Prayer
God, you give us strength in our weakness, peace and gentleness in our words and boldness
in the way we share you with the world. As we grow disciples, may we continue to grow in
knowledge and love of you. Amen

Life and Work at Grace
Certificate in Missional Leadership
The Centre for Missional Leadership at St. Andrew’s Hall is pleased to offer the Certificate in Missional
Leadership for congregational teams and individuals either in person or online with a new cohort
beginning in September 2021. The three-year program focuses on “Forming and Reforming
Communities of Christ in a Secular Age” with the first year specifically exploring “Missional foundations
during Covid and Beyond”. There will be four Saturday sessions from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM starting in
September 2021.
Grace hopes to send a new team for the first-year program. Nine people from Grace have completed the
first year of the program, and many will go on to year two. The payment arrangement is to make an
$80.00 payment to Grace (for which they receive a tax receipt), and Grace issues a group cheque. If
someone is unable to pay, there is no problem; they simply do not make a donation. To register, please
complete the registration form. Certificate in Missional Leadership Registration
Grace Kids Summer Sunday

Grace Kids Summer Sundays will be a fun time for all kids 5 – 11 years of age. The dates are Sunday, July
18 and Sunday, August 22. Each session will be filled with music, games, bible stories, crafts and much
more. There are only 20 spots open for each morning and afternoon session, and families must choose
which session at registration. Note: Kids may attend both dates but not both sessions on the same date.
Grace Presbyterian Church sponsors Grace Kids Summer Sundays. Grace Church has been in Calgary for
well over a hundred years. In that time, we’ve become clearer that what matters is people, their stories
and their growth and change over a lifetime of experiences. Our vision is Transforming lives through
God’s grace. Welcome to Grace – your church home in the Beltine.
To register, go to https://gracechurchcalgary.com/summersundays/ or contact the office by email at
office@gracecalgary.org
Note: This program is dependent on AHS regulations allowing outdoor gatherings this summer.

Homecoming Sunday - September 12, 2021
Grace Session has chosen Sunday, September 12, as our Homecoming Sunday, the date to resume in-
person worship.
We all feel the present changes with the increase in vaccinations and the declining rates of Covid
infection are good signs. These signs point to people in Calgary and beyond turning the page on the
Covid 19 pandemic. This is great news, and we are looking forward to no longer being hindered from
socializing with friends and family, many of whom we may not have seen in months.
