On Saturday March 6th, Pickering and Ajax Public Libraries will be hosting our
annual Ajax-Pickering Science Fair. Children from grades 3 – 12 will present
their completed project to a panel of judges. 3 winners will be awarded in each
category (Primary, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior).

Ask an Expert: Climate Change in Durham Region - What Can We Do Now?
April 22, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Learn about climate change and how the rise of greenhouse gases will impact
Durham Region. Find out what residents, businesses, government, and you can do
to make a difference! This session will be presented by climate change expert, Dr.
Daniel Hoornweg, an Associate Professor at Ontario Tech University.

Are you up for a reading challenge? Pick up a log sheet at any branch or download
one from our website to get started. Read for 120 minutes with your family to earn a
ballot for a Kobo Clara HD eReader, and play a game of book bingo for a bonus entry!

SPARK! Juried Art Show
Submission dates: March 2 – 27

Children can submit their art to be part of this online show! Prizes
will be awarded to the top 3 entries in each category: JK to Grade

Bring Back the Salmon
Thursdays, March 4 – April 29

Join us for this weekly 30-minute program. Check on the hatchery, get updates on
the fishes’ development, and see presentations on topics relating to salmon. Check
out the weekly videos and activities and follow the salmons’ progress! The Atlantic
Salmon Classroom Hatchery Program is one of the education components of the
Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program.

Meditation with the Heartfulness Institute

This interactive and practical experience of a heart-based meditation, includes

Hepatitis C Screening Program
April 13, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Receive free screening for Hepatitis C using COVID-19 protocols, as
well as care, treatment, and psychosocial support from Carea Community Health
Care professionals. Education to increase Hep C awareness, harm reduction
education and supplies, as well as community resources referrals are provided. All
members of the public are welcome to attend.

Ask an Expert: Adult Sleep Seminar
April 13, 7:00 –­ 8:00 p.m.

Join special guest Candace Singh for this informative presentation. Sleep hygiene
refers to the habits and behaviours people follow to prepare for and stay asleep.
This 60 minute presentation will discuss different reasons why people may sleep
well and identifies different methods of sleep hygiene to improve sleep quality. In
partnership with Canadian Mental Health Association Durham and the Recovery
College Wellness Centre.
