Interstate bidders unable to attend – No problems!
We are more than happy to assist interstate bidders in any way possible. For any fancier wishing to attend
the auction we are happy to provide information on local accommodation and provide directions on how to
get to the venue.
For fanciers who are unable to attend we will aid in bidding. There are 2 alternatives; we can have you set a
limit on any lots of interest prior to the auction. We will have somebody bid on your behalf to that limit. Of
course if the bird sells for an amount less than your limit you only pay the lesser amount.
Alternatively we can setup phone bidding for you on the day of the auction. You then have the ability to
listen in on any lots that you may be interested in and bid via the telephone. To aid with the process we will
supply a suitable freight box at (nominal cost) and transport your birds to the Brisbane Air Express office at
no extra charge to you. Obviously the cost of freight and collection at the final destination will be borne by
the purchaser.
Payment of purchases has been made easy, you can pay with your Credit Card or Cheque but prior
arrangements must be made if you plan to use a personal cheque.
Transport to the venue :- For those fanciers intending to fly into Brisbane for the event, we will arrange a
pickup from Brisbane Airport and transport to Cleveland. There will be only one pickup time & it will depart
Brisbane Airport for Cleveland at 8.00 am, so please make your flight arrangements to suit this. It is also
imperative that you advise us that you will require transport as we may not have any room for surprises.

WRBS AUCTION RULES 1. Venue Bidding - Prior to the start of the auction each intending bidder is required to complete a registration form & receive a bidder’s number. The bidder's number will be required to purchase any lots at auction and must be displayed to the auctioneer after the fall of the hammer. 2. Telephone Bidding - Will be available, provided PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made with official WRBS phone bidders. Payment arrangements must be confirmed prior to the auction. 3. Online Bidders -Will be required to register online at the website advertised in the catalogue to receive you bidding number as well as complete a WRBS Registration / Payment form which is emailed once online registration is complete. This form MUST BE RETURNED to the email address on the form PRIOR 7am on 4th April 2020. 4. Judging sticks and carry cages will not be allowed into the auction room. The birds must not be interfered with or subjected to sticks, pens or similar objects. NO SMOKING will be permitted in the auction room at all times. 5. Prior to the start of the auction each intending bidder is required to complete a registration form & receive a bidder’s number. The bidder's number will be required to purchase any lots at auction and must be displayed to the auctioneer after the fall of the hammer. 6. All lots will be submitted in the order in which they appear in the catalogue; however, if necessary the vendor or the organizers reserve the right to make any alterations, additions or deletions to this order. 7. All conditions and warranties expressed or implied by law are hereby excluded and as all lots are open for inspection prior to commencement of the sale, the same are sold with all faults, if any, therefore no compensation shall be made in respect of any fault or imperfection or error of description of any lots sold or otherwise. WRBS acts as an agent only in respect of the goods being auctioned & is not responsible for any faults, defects or description of any lots. Intended purchasers must satisfy themselves as to the origin, age or condition of any lot in which they may be interested. 8. Upon the fall of the hammer each lot shall be at the purchaser's risk. 9. After the fall of the hammer no party will be allowed to retract his/her bid. 10. Subject to the vendor having the right to bid, the highest bidder shall be the purchaser, and in the event of any dispute arising the lot in dispute shall be put up again and the auctioneer's decision shall be final. 11. The auctioneer reserves the right to accept or refuse any bid on birds without having to state the reason or reasons thereof. 12. Payment for the goods on the day shall be by CASH, MASTERCARD, VISA unless prior arrangements have been made. There will be no surcharge for Credit purchases. Personal cheques will not be accepted on the day of the auction without prior arrangement. 13. Successful purchasers of lots will be required to take their purchases with them before or at the completion of the auction. All lots must be removed at the completion of the sale. 14. If any successful bidder shall fail to pay for their purchases on the day, the vendor or his agents have the right to resell the lot in any manner they think proper. 15. Purchases may be collected prior to the completion of the auction. PLEASE NOTE: CAGING FACILITIES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE AUCTION AND IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN.
COLLECTION OF BIRDS PRIOR TO COMPLETION OF AUCTION
Please follow these steps
* Take the sales slip to the cashier
* Pay for purchases & obtain receipt for your purchases.
* Proceed to the WRBS Steward at the allocated collection point with own carry cage
and evidence of purchase.
* Under the supervision of the WRBS Steward the purchaser will be required to remove
the bird/s from the sale cage and transfer it/them to their own cage. This transfer must
be inside the transfer cage provided, no birds to be taken out of the show cage
outside the transfer cage
* The vendor, his agent, the auctioneer or any staff will not be handling the birds. It is
the sole responsibility of each purchaser to handle his/her own birds at collection.

Well known open breeder & National Judge Alan has had many wins at the Nationals over the years & was
inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994 In 2018 Alan came first & second in Recessive Pied Class In 2019
2nd in Recessive Pied & 2 Whitecaps in the demo class
Peter Thurn; VIC ANBC Hall of Fame Member of Melton & District Budgerigar Society Peter is a
National Judge, who has been very successful on Victorian Show bench achieving Champion Exhibitor
Status in 2009 Commenced breeding budgerigars in 2003 & breeds the following varieties Normals,
Cinnamons, Opalines, Dominant Pieds, Spangles, Clearbodies, Fallows, Albinos, English & Aust
Yellowfaces He has had many birds represent Vic at the Nationals with 7 wins Albino 08 Dominant Pied,
Fallow. Clearbody 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014 with a Dilute & numerous other placings 2019 1st with Fallow
Tony & Sylvia Appleton Vic They started breeding budgies in 1991 & have been very successful on the
show bench winning 10 Diplomas, 6 Variety Challenge Certificates & 10 Shield Classes. The high light is
winning 3 National Logies. The Appletons love the hobby & all the socializing that goes with it.
Matt Holyoak; NSW I have been breeding budgies for 11 years and the president of the Pied Budgerigar
Society for the past 4 years. I am at intermediate status as I am unable to show due to work commitments on
weekends. My only show being the State Team Challenge, making my birds available for the PBS team.
My birds are made up of the following bloodlines: Gazzard, Thurn, Denning and McFarland.
I have numerous in the top 10 at state level and am fortunate enough to have 9 birds represent NSW at the
nationals. 2011 – 6th Clearwing, 2013 – 3rd Lutino, 2014 – 4th & 10th Clearwings, 2015 – 9th Grey, 2016 – 4th
Grey, 2017 – 13th Crest, 2018 – 2nd Albino & 3rd Clearwing. 2019 2nd in Spangle AOSV
Barry & Maree Wise NSW Started breeding and showing budgerigars in Northern NSW in 1986, after moving to the Hunter Valley in 2000 we started entering birds in the State National Selection shows. From that time, we have had 20 birds selected with 2 national wins in the Greywing class and birds selected in 10 different National classes in total with 6 birds selected in 2018. Had multiple Grand Champion in show wins the best was winning Champion Bird in Show at the 2008 BSNSW Annual Show. Our latest success was Best Open Young, Best Young Bird in show and Reserve Bird in show plus best Grey Green, Grey, Albino, Spangle, and Recessive Pied in show all at the Hills 2019 Annual Show. 2019 7 birds represented NSW at the Nationals Ray Slade; VIC Champion Victoria Breeder After a 15 year break from the hobby I recommenced breeding in 2006 in South Australia but now living in Victoria. Since 2010 I have had over 30 birds selected for the Nationals. In this period, I have had National wins with Black Eyes 2016 & 2017 along with a 3rd two 4th and a 6th placing with the Black Eyes. I have also had a 2nd with English Yellow Face and 3rd and 6th with Lacewings. I have also had 8 wins at the State Championship Shows and 2 Diploma wins. 2019 Ray came 2nd with a Lacewing Tim Gleeson; NSW Tim is an open breeder from country NSW who rarely shows due to his location and family commitments. He has represented NSW with numerous birds at National level when he makes birds available for two wins in the Yellow face and Sky class. In 2018 he won 4 classes at the state selection show - Cinnamon, Albino, Yellow face and Clear body. Winning the Yellow face class, 3rd in the Cinnamon class and 7th and 8th in the Clear bodys at the 2018 Nationals. The Albino broke her tail 3 days before the Nationals and was scratched “she is a super hen”. The background of Tim’s birds are originally from Gary Gazzard, John Scoble and Peter Baker birds. 2019 Nationals 1st Clearbody 1st Albino Dave & Deb Pendergast; Sth Qld Intermediate breeders who are very successful on the local show scene Their stud is based on blood lines from G Gazzard, H George, A & C Druery, M Fellows & H Kamel 2019 Nationals had an Whitecap in the demo class John Ennis Vic I live in Geelong Victoria & started breeding in 2006 My flock is over 300 birds & I breed 200/300 a year. My birds are probably best known for their size & power. I place big emphasis on health & fertility Varieties kept Spangles, Opalines, Normal, English Yellowface, Texas Clearbodies, Albinos & Greywings John has had 3 National wins Yellowface 2012 Spangle Normal 2015 Opaline AOSV 2017 other placings Clearbodies 2 3rds & a 5th Second with a Greywing 2014 4th with Opaline 2015 4th with a Violet 2017 in 2018 3rd Normal Blue & Yellowface 2019 5th Albino & 3rd Clearbody John has also had 11 Victorian State Shield wins Brian Walters Sth Qld; Brian is an open breeder who has been very successful on the local show scene. He represented Sth Qld Zone at 2018 Nationals with Normal Opaline & Opaline AOSV. 2019 Nationals with Normal Opaline & Lacewing Michael Pace Nth Qld Michael has kept and bred budgerigars from a young age but has only taken too breeding exhibition budgies seriously in recent years. He has had numerous birds on the national bench in a number of varieties & had his first win in 2013 in the Opaline class followed by a win in the Blue class in 2014 His stud consists of mainly Normals, Cinnamons, Opaline cinnamons, Spangles and Lutinos. Michael’s aviary is based mainly on blood from Clint Ault’s stud with some Cec & Brenda Gearing stock and also recent additions from Bob Smith and Mark Chidel Ken Seagrott NSW Ken is a well-known successful breeder with many years in the fancy. The stud has represented NSW on the National level with Normal, Greywing, Crest & Recessive Pieds. In 2013 achieved a 2nd place in Dark Eyed Clear. Most recent success 4th Normal Greygreen in 14, 3rd Normal Green in 15 & a win with Recessive Pied 2016
Kev O’Callaghan Nth Qld Kev & Family have represented N&C Qld Zone in the ANBC Nationals many times with different varieties and have gained numerous placing’s over the years including 1st in Cinnamon in 2012, 1st in Violet in 2013, 2nd in Yellowface in 2016 In 2017 6th in Violet & 9th Lacewing 2019 Nationals Whitecap demo class 1st & 2nd placings Scott Eriksen Nth Qld Scott is an open breeder who has represented Qld Nth & Cent Zone with numerous birds at National level In 2017 he gained 2nd in Cinnamon & 3rd & 5th in Opaline AOSV 2018 8th in Cinnamon Main bloodline of Scott’s birds is Bob Smith, with other bloodlines being Henry George, Ken Dunk, Gary Gazzard & John Scoble Cedric D’Costa Sth Qld South Queensland Champion Exhibitor. Cedric is an Open breeder and judge with 30 years of breeding experience and has received numerous Grand Champion awards in Victoria, NSW, the ACT and Queensland. He moved his stud to South Queensland in 2013 and his birds have continued to be very successful on the show bench. At his first visit to the South Queensland Zone Selection show in 2016 he was awarded two firsts and two seconds. Cedric enjoys the challenge of breeding most varieties and competing against specialist breeders. In 2017 Cedric had success at National level winning both Albino & Clearwing Classes. 2019 Nationals 2nd Hens 3rd Spangle AOSV Spangle Double Factor 1st & 2nd Garry Edwards Sth Qld Open Breeder Garry has been breeding budgerigars since 1980 with good success on the show bench He has also represented Sth Qld on the National level with Normal Greygreen, Dominant Pied, Cinnamon Spangle Double Factor & Dilute His stud consists of bloodlines from Ken Dunk Bob Smith Alan Kent Gary Gazzard & E & L Miller Good & Martyr Sth Qld Brian & Family Sth Qld Open breeders Who have been very successful on the local show scene they had birds in the SQ team at the 2018 & 2019 Nationals Charlesworth Family Tas Phillip Matthew & Catherine are Open breeders & exhibitors from Devonport, Tasmania who have been breeding & exhibiting from 2003. They started with bloodlines from Hall of Fame Breeders Graeme & Marlene Tuthill & have built upon this solid foundation, adding bloodlines to complement their stud The family specialise with varieties which include Normal Blue, Violet, Goldenface, Yellowface, Spangles, Recessive Pied & Australian Whitecap The Family has represented Tasmania in a variety of Classes at National level since 2004 Most notable placings 1st Opaline Normal 2007, 2nd Spangle AOSV 2013, Goldenface 2nd 2013, 4th & 5th in 2015 3rd in both 2016 & 2017. John Boss NSW John was a w0ell-known very successful breeder in Sth Qld before defecting to NSW where he has continued with much success on the NSW show bench. His stud is based on bloodlines from top NSW breeders. John has represented NSW at National level gaining 6th place in Lutino in 2015 & winning both Normal Green & Opaline Normal in 2017 2019 Nationals 7th Spangle Double Factor
Wayne Altmann NSW Wayne has had great success on the local NSW show bench & has represented NSW on National level gaining 3rd place in the Albino class in Adelaide 2014 In 2017 6th with Spangle Double Factor. 2018 5th with Opaline AOSV Glenn & Damen Winch Sth Qld Glenn & Damen a father & son team are very successful open breeders. They mainly breed Normals & Dominant varieties based on birds from the Henry George stud. The stud has had lots of success on the local show bench & has represented Sth Qld at the Nationals since 2012 with numerous placings. Bevan Mouritz Sth Qld South Qld Open breeder with lots of success on the local show bench. Represented SQ Zone with a Cinnamon which was placed 8th in the 2015 Nationals. Had placings in 2016 with Normal Grey & Albino. 2019 Nationals had a bird in the demo class Troy Holmes; SA After re-joining the hobby in 2005, Troy Holmes has consistently had birds represented at the Nationals level for South Australia, with his first national win coming in 2018 in the Grey Green class. Troy keeps only a very limited number of birds, with a strong focus on modern face. The stud is built primarily around Gazzard and Capper bloodlines. 2019 Nationals Troy had 7 birds in the SA team Bill Boal Sth Qld I have been breeding budgerigars for over 30 years with a national win in Canberra in the Spangle class and many other birds representing SQBBA at National level. Having recently returned after a break of around 10 years basing my aviary on Mark Hawke/Peter Thurn/Stephan Elliot bloodlines with some Alan Kent and Henry George birds also. I am breeding Yellowfaces/Lacewings and Normal. Mitchell Boal Sth Qld Mitchell has been breeding budgerigars most of his junior and adult years having been a Wynnum Redlands junior and now some 20 years on he is specialising on clear bodies based on peter Thurn/Rowe brothers/John Ennis and Allan Rowe bloodlines. Anthony Boal Sth Qld Anthony has had a similar path with budgerigars as Mitchell having been a Wynnum Redlands junior and now some 15+years on he is specialising in crests and basing his birds on Sheppard and Flanagan having purchased the pair of Sheppard and Flanagan crest at the Penrith nationals auction for $4800 as well as many other Sheppard and Flanagan crests. Trevor & Toni Broadbent Sth Qld Trevor & Toni open breeders They have bred some very nice birds based on bloodlines from some of the top Australian Studs They have won many awards at shows within Sth Qld & represented SQBBA on the National level. A highlight being the inaugural winner of the Goldenface at the Toowoomba Nationals David Kelleher NSW I have bred Normals Cinnamons Pieds & Spangles. My bloodlines is Welshman recently adding Kent & Fellows. I have had 5 birds represent NSW at the Nationals Have won 4 Grand Champions & numerous Best of Variety awards. Hedra Kamel Vic Keeping and breeding budgies have been a lifelong hobby for me. In 2017, I sold most of my birds and decided to focus on a small number of Bob Smith birds. With crucial help from Craig Barnett and other good friends in the hobby, I managed to build the numbers up from this family and maintain most of the features they are renown for. Due to limited time, I only keep a small breeding team of normals and spangles and breed around 100 birds from 6-8 pairs. I have been competitive on the state level winning numerous shield classes and having birds placing in the top 10 in the nationals every year since I started putting birds in our state selection.
