Obituary
On Monday, 20 August 2018, with family by her side, at her
home in West Orange, New Jersey, God called for our beloved
Yola.

Yola Gabriel (Severe) Elizaire was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti
on 26 September 1951 to Anne Marie Edouard and Jean Vecius
Severe.

God, family and friendship meant everything to Yola. Growing
in Cap- Haïtien, she was always surrounded by siblings, cousins,
aunts, uncles, and childhood friends, whom she would cherish
for the rest of her life.

Yola went on to study nursing and graduated from Ecole
Nationale Auxiliaries de Port-au-Prince. She later joined the
nursing staff at Centre de Sante a Port Margot North (1976-78).
Then, she served as the Chief of Service at Centre de Sante Acul
du Nord (1978-79) before transferring to Hôpital Justinien au
Pavilion Prive (now University d’État) in Cap-Haïtien (1979-85).

After relocating to the United States in October 1985, Yola
became a founding member and treasurer of Bethesda Baptist
Church of New Jersey. She was a praying woman and believed
that one must always wait on God—for He would bless you in
His own time. She had a generous spirt, so if she had it and you
needed it, it was yours. She cared deeply for her church family
and would perform every third Sunday as one of the members of
the singing group “Les Soeurs Dorcas de Bethesda”.

After over 35 years in service to others in the nursing field, Yola
retired from Kindred Healthcare at Saint Clare’s Dover Hospital.
Despite her battle with endometrial carcinoma, Yola’s
remarkable strength and courage were reflected daily.
Throughout her journey she would continue to touch the lives of
many, who would relish in her zest for life.

Yola is preceded in death by her parents Anne Marie and Jean
Vecius, her sisters Joclyne and Kedi also her brothers Jean
Baptiste, Pitchun, and Arence. She is survived by her husband
Pierre Beauhaurnais Elizaire, three children Myriam Elizaire-
Williams, Steven Elizaire, Daniele Lynn Elizaire, son-in-law
Henry Lee Williams, Jr. and a host of loving relatives, friends
and former colleagues to cherish her memories.

Vers Toi, divin Roi. Grande est ma faiblesse, Mon indignité; Mais
dans ta tendresse, Tu m’as racheté.
                             Refrain:
 2. Oh quelle tendresse, Quel immence amour! Cet amour me
presse D’aimer à mon tour: Aimer, c’est te suivre Et c’est t’obéir.
Aimer, oui, c’est vivre Et s’épanouir.

                            Refrain :
Quel repos, (quel repos,) Quel repos, (quel repos,) Quel repos,
                         quel céleste repos.
3. Quel repos céleste! Tu conduis mes pas, Tu me combles de tes
richesses, Dans ton grand amour, chaque jour tu sauras Déployer
                      envers moi tes tendresses.

God Saw You Getting Tired
            God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put His arms around you
          And whispered, “Come to me”
With tearful eyes we watched you
             And saw you pass away
          Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay
         A golden heart stopped beating,
           Hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
              He only takes the best.

                                There are no words that
                               seem adequate enough to
                              say thank you to everyone

                               sympathy during the loss
                              of our beloved Yola. Still,
                             the Elizaire Family would
                              like to express sincere
