201 9 SCHEDUL E Welcome to Welland 2019! After a hugely successful pilot project in 2018, we are delighted to be bringing you a whole weekend of wellness this year! Welland is Calderdale’s first festival of wellbeing and it was created for the community of Elland - aiming to help people live well for longer by providing creative, inspirational, and inclusive wellbeing activities that celebrate and bring together the community. This year’s theme is ‘Move Well, Live Well’ and so we have a whole range of different activities that help people of all ages and abilities get moving and experience ways to live happier, more connected lives. We also have a uniquely global flavour to the festival this year as it coincides with an international celebration of wellness - Global Wellness Day - happening on Saturday 8th June. We’ve taken inspiration from Africa, Native America, Korea, USA, and more! Lots of activities have also been happening in Elland already, including schools workshops with professional dance company Northern Rascals, community meetings, and guided walks with our Associate Artist for 2019 Alice Bradshaw. Alice has been collecting bottle caps and stories of Elland to create a brand new art installation inspired by our town, which will be unveiled at the festival. We look forward to seeing you! Samantha McCormick Festival Director
