MUSICAL
          Fiddler on
          the Roof
          HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
          Wed 23 - Sat 26 Jan 2019
A fiddler on the roof? Sounds crazy, no?
Aberdeen’s Phoenix Theatre, in conjunction with the children of
Phoenix Youth Theatre, present the fabulous, classic musical,
          Fiddler on the Roof.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centres on Tevye,
a poor dairyman, his wife, Golde, and their five daughters. In
the centre of a colourful and tight‐knit Jewish community, Tevye
attempts to maintain his religious and cultural traditions, as
outside influences encroach upon the family’s lives.
With iconic and beloved songs such as Matchmaker, Sunrise,
Sunset and If I Were A Rich Man, Fiddler on the Roof provides the
perfect mix of humour and humanity ‐ and maybe even a few
tears of sadness, joy and laughter!
Touching audiences worldwide with its warmth and honesty,
this unique, universal show is a cornerstone of musical
          theatre tradition.

Doctor Dolittle
MUSICAL
          The Musical
          HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
          Tue 12 - Sat 23 Mar 2019
You’ve never seen anything like it! Doctor Dolittle returns to the
stage in Leslie Bricusse’s acclaimed family musical.
Join the eccentric Doctor, his human companions and his exotic
menagerie of animal friends on an extraordinary adventure to
find the Giant Pink Sea Snail, that holds the secret of life and
making the world a happier place. With help from the Pushmi-
Pullyu and his trusty sidekick Polynesia the Parrot, the larger-
than-life Doctor Dolittle teaches us not only to talk to the
animals but to listen to them as well!
Based on the popular 1967 film with Rex Harrison, this
spectacular new stage show stars Mark Williams (Father Brown,
The Fast Show, 101 Dalmatians, The Borrowers, Shakespeare
in Love and seven of the Harry Potter film series) as Doctor
Dolittle. Joining his exciting journey are the hilarious Vicky
Entwistle (Coronation Street, Ackley Bridge, Les Misérables) as
his trusty side-kick Polynesia, with Brian Capron (Coronation
Street, Grange Hill, Where The Heart Is) playing both the
vivacious Albert Blossom and the mighty Straight Arrow.

The Musical
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
Wed 12 - Sun 16 June 2019
Based on the smash hit DreamWorks animated motion picture,
Madagascar – The Musical follows all of your favourite crack-
a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s
Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey
to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
Alex the lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction
at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends – Marty
the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo – have spent
their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public
and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave
well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of
him and makes his escape – with the help of some prodigious
penguins – to explore the world.
Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria
the hip hip Hippo and those hilarious, plotting penguins as they
bound onto the stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime.
Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an
upbeat score, you’ll have no choice but to “Move It, Move It!”

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
Mon 25 - Sat 30 Mar 2019
WRITTEN BY YASMINA REZA | TRANSLATED BY CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON
A comedy masterpiece starring Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson &
Stephen Tompkinson. One of the most successful comedies ever.
ART is a phenomenon and one of the most successful comedies
ever. Having opened in 1996, it took both the West End and
Broadway by storm, won Olivier, Tony, Moliere and every other
major theatre award, and has been packing in audiences
worldwide for more than twenty years.
When Serge spends an extortionate amount of money on an all
white modernist painting, his close friends Marc and Yvan are
baffled. But does their violent reactions to this provocative
canvas mirror more dangerous antagonisms towards each
other? Yasmina Reza’s dazzling study of friendship, prejudice
and tolerance is a masterpiece.
The all-star cast features Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson and
Stephen Tompkinson.

Lost at Sea
by Morna Young
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
Thu 9 - Sat 11 May 2019
“The untold war oh man versus the elements. Oh, I’ll tell it to
ye. The tale o the fishermen fightin the ocean. Yer in for a
 rough ride.”
A storm is brewing in a small fishing village. A young woman
returns home, searching for answers about her father’s death.
But as she begins to weave together the strands of her past, a
mysterious force unravels family secrets.
Lost at Sea journeys through a labyrinth of myth and memory
in an epic tale spanning forty years of the fishing industry.
Featuring the voices of fishermen and their families in their own
words - with music, songs and Scots language - it is the lyrical
and powerfully evocative story of a North-East fishing family.
Inspired by the loss of playwright Morna Young’s fisherman
father, Lost at Sea is a personal tribute to the fishing
communities of Scotland.
Lost at Sea is suitable for ages 12+

Mockingbird
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
Mon 3 - Sat 8 June 2019
Experience the critically acclaimed production of one of the
greatest novels of the 20th century as the sell out show returns
to the stage.
Set in the Deep South, Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning
novel sees racial injustice divide a small-town community.
With integrity and compassion, lawyer Atticus Finch seeks
the truth. His courageous daughter, Scout, brings hope to a
neighbourhood in turmoil.
This utterly enchanting and timely production from London's
award-winning Regent’s Park Theatre captures the warmth,
poignancy and magic of this best-loved classic.

Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations is an irresistible
carnival of colourful characters. This much-loved whirl of
1920s dance hall glitz is set to a series of Scott Joplin’s tunes,
performed live by an onstage ragtime band.
