A Note from Pastor Corbin

Lakeside Family,
As I shared with you last week, Pastor Tim Cox, the President of
the Alabama Baptist State Convention, has asked all of our
Alabama Baptist Churches to join him on Sunday, November 1st
for A Day of Prayer for our Nation. In addition to a special
prayer time during our morning services, we will hold a BIG
virtual prayer time on ZOOM on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tim will
be joining us for part of this prayer time. Save this link below
and join us Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The members of Lakeside will vote in both morning worship services on Sunday, November 8 to
approve the next slate of Deacons. The following men have been recommended by the Deacon
Nominating Committee to serve a three-year term beginning in January 2021: Bill Burdette, David
Bush, Gene Cash, Stephen Hickman, Dwight Mullis, and Andy Plemons.
Get to know these men! A photo brochure is available at the Welcome Center and other places
around the church.

LAKESIDE CARES THANKSGIVING FOOD COLLECTION
Now - NOVEMBER 15
Hunger continues to burden many families in and around
our community. Let us show our community during this
Thanksgiving that Lakeside cares. We are collecting non-
perishable food items for a food distribution serve day on
Wednesday, November 18th. You can drop off food in
designated bins at the church office entrance during
office hours or at the Welcome Center on Sunday
mornings. Food collection deadline is Sunday, November 15th.
Suggested Food Items: canned beans, dry beans, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned vegetables,
canned tuna, canned chicken, rice, pasta, pasta sauce, canned stews, apple sauce, boxed cereals,
breakfast bars, cooking oil, canned tomatoes, dried fruits, baby formula, Biscuit or baking mix (that
only require water), chicken, beef and vegetable broths and stock.

How can you volunteer for Food Distribution?
Because of COVID-19 and the need to socially distance, we will provide two different days you
can volunteer:
Tuesday, November 17: FOOD SORTING DAY
3:00-5:00pm We will sort food and place into boxes.
Wednesday, November 18: FOOD DISTRIBUTION
4:20-5:00pm Group Meeting and set up parking lot with directional signs.
5:00-7:00pm Food Distribution
We will need many volunteers on both days to make this event a success. If you are able to
volunteer for either or both days please email Brad Tollison at btollison@lakesidebaptist.com so
we can get an estimated number of volunteers.
Preschool Ministry Needs Volunteers
The Preschool Ministry (infants - 5 years) needs additional volunteers to love on and care for the
children on Sunday mornings during the 10:45am worship service. Not every Sunday, but an
occasional Sunday; perhaps once or twice a quarter. If rocking babies, playing games, and spending
time with little ones is "your thing," contact Jami Sheets and let her know that you'd like to serve in
