PHMC (Advertisement) Regulations 2019 The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reviewed the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics (PHMC)(Publicity) Regulations, which is the current principal legislation governing all publicity conducted by private hospitals, medical/dental clinics,
clinical laboratories and nursing homes licensed under the PHMC Act in Singapore. The PHMC (Publicity) Regulations will be replaced by the PHMC (Advertisement) Regulations (the “Advertisement Regulations”), which will take effect from 15 April 2019. The Advertisement Regulations has been gazetted at https://sso.agc.gov.sg/SL-Supp/S38- 2019/Published/20190115?DocDate=20190115 for your reference. 2 With the enactment of the Advertisement Regulations, MOH has revised its explanatory guidance (EG) to provide clarity to the PHMC licensees with the broad regulatory principles and requirements set out in the Advertisement Regulations. A decision tree has also been included within the EG to assist licensees in determining if the advertisements are in compliance with the Advertisement Regulations. 3 The licensees of healthcare institutions are responsible and accountable for all advertisements of its healthcare services, which include those that are outsourced to advertising or marketing agencies. Hence, licensees should familiarise themselves with the Advertisement Regulations and the EG in the next 3 months and comply with the Advertisement Regulations starting from 15 April 2019. 4 To assist the licensees better, MOH will be rolling out a few workshops from February 2019 to guide the licensees through the Advertisement Regulations. The advent of new biocompatible pulp-capping materials has led to a renewed appreciation of the role of vital pulp therapy as a treatment approach in restorative dentistry, particularly in carious mature permanent teeth. Taking reference from latest literature, this talk aims to provide vital updates regarding the case selection of teeth likely to benefit from these treatment modalities, as well as a discussion of techniques and materials used. Riding the wave of the “minimally invasive” movement, the speakers hope to generate heightened awareness of the importance of saving teeth, one pulp at a time! Advanced Course in Microscopic Endodontics Endodontic treatment in recent years has gone through some paradigm shift. Dental operating microscope, ultrasonics, CBCT, bioceramics and etc. have made endodontic treatment more predictable and gained higher success rates. As microscopes become more affordable these days, many general dentists are using microscopes in their routine practice. To assist those who want to start or try out microscope in endodontics, Ancora Imparo has brought in Harvard trained endodontist Dr Sakdee to run a 2-day course in Advanced Microscopic Endodontics.
