1Chief Guest of today’s august function Prof.(Dr.). Shivanand V. Shettar Chairman, Department of
Gandhian Studies, Karnatak university, Dharwad Respected President, Distinguished Invitees, Members
of the Staff and my dear students, it gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction to place before you all
the annual report of our college for the academic year 2020-2021.
The college reopened for the current academic year on 1st September 2020. In addition to the
lectures, the college had in its calendar of events lots of extra curricular activities, Debate, Moot Courts,
Special Lectures, Cultural Activities etc.
FORMATION OF COLLEGE STUDENT COUNCIL:
For forming the college students’ council for the academic year 2020-2021 in conformity with
guiding rules of the Karnataka State Law University, a selection committee of all the staff members was
constituted and the committee recommended the names of the deserving students. The principal
nominated the students and the following students constituted the students council for the year 2020-
2021.

WELCOME FUNCTION:
All the students of II and III LL.B. arranged a function to welcome their new junior friends of the
First Year LL.B. on 26th January 2021. Dr. Veena Tonapi, Alumni & Rtd. Principal JSS Sakri Law
College, Hubballi was the Chief Guest Well kept up traditions of the college, made the new entrants feel
proud.
2ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES:
• One Day Orientation Programme on “The importance of legal education and career opportunities”
was conducted on 13.01.2021. Smt. Pramila B., Commercial and Corporate Attorney, Chennai
was the resource person.
• Smt. Swapna Somayaji, Lecturer oriented the first year law students on “Importance of Moot
Court “ on 16th February 2021
INAUGURAL FUNCTION:
The inaugural function of our College Union and Gymkhana activities marked the beginning of the
extracurricular activities. Inauguration of College Union & Gymkhana Activities of the academic year
2020-21, Orientation Programme and National Youth Day was was held on 12th January 2021. Shri.
Rajesh Chinnannavar, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary, District Legal Service Authority,
Dharwad was the Chief Guest.

In addition to all the regular academic activities our students and staff continue to exhibit keen
interest & proficiency in so many extra-curricular activities.

1. Webinar on “Professional Skills and Career Prospects in Law” was conducted on 25th September
2021. Adv. Shraddha Momaya, Associate Partner, Trans India Law Associates, Hubballi Branch
was resource persons.
2. An IQAC initiative Webinar series on Corporate Laws was organized from 6th October 2020 to
10th October 2020. The series began with a talk on the topic ‘Crimes in Banking Sector’ by Dr.
M. P. Chandrika, Principal of S.C. Nandimath Law College, Bagalkot. The session on the second
day was by Prof. (Dr.) J.M. Mallikarjunaiah, Principal, KLEs Law College, Bangalore who spoke
on ‘The Law of Contract, its Role in Business Transactions,’. For a session on 3rd day guest
speaker was Prof. (Dr.) B.S. Patil from V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Panjim – Goa who
briefed about ‘Role and importance of ADR’ in corporate sector. The fourth session was on
‘An Overview of IPR’ was by Shri Vinod Kotabagi, IP Counsel from Bengaluru. The resource
speaker for the fifth session CS Rajiv Varma IBC practitioner from Hubballi spoke on the topic of
‘Due Diligence- A Key Challenge when buying assets under IBC.’ On the last day of
series Smt. Madhuri Kulkarni, practising CS from Hubballi resource speaker briefed on
‘Voluntary Liquidation Process - A Comparison between Companies Act 2013 and
Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.’ The webinar was well attended by more than 100
members in a day consisting of academicians, students and various professionals.
3. Two Days National webinar on “Consumer Protection Law” was conducted in association with
GKLC Alumni and Chair on Consumer Law and Practice, NLSIU, Bengaluru on 13th and 14th
October 2020. Prof.(Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Chair Professor, Chair on Consumer Law and Practice,
NLSIU, Bemgaluru spoke on topic “An Overview of Consumer Protection Act, 2019”, Hon`ble
Dr. S. M. Kantikar, Member, National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, New Delhi,
topic:”Medical Negligence”, Shri. Raju N., Registrar cum Administrative Officer, Karnataka State

Law College, Belagavi was the resource person.
During the Covid – 19 period all staff members are regularly conducting online classes,
attending virtual webinars conducted by our sister institutions, other prestigious law firms, associations,
colleges, on variour topics of law such as intellectual property law, ADR, Victim Compensation and
Witness Protection, Cyber Law, Fundamental Rights, Advocacy and Court Craft, International Rivers and
Emerging Legal Challenges, Zoom Security, Copy Right.etc, and maintained academic atmosphere .
SPECIAL LECTURES :
1. Special lecture on “Registration Procedure of Immovable Property” was conducted In association
with JSS Sakri Law College, Hubballi on 20th October 2020. Shri. T. N. Bavoor, Senior Sub-
Registrar, Hubballi was the resource person.
2. Special Lecture on “Legal Profession and career in Law” was conducted on 5th June 2021. Miss
Pranusha Kulkarni, Ph.D. Scholar IIM, Ahmadabad was the resource person.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME ACTIVITIES :
REGULARACTIVITIES -
1. NSS Day was celebrated on 30th September 2021 through virtual mode. Dr. Jayashree M.
Nagaralli, Associate Professor, Smt. A.A. Patil College of Arts & Commerce for Women, Chikodi
was the resource person.
2. Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahaddur Shastri Jayanti was celebrated on 2nd October 2021.
3. Maharshi Walmiki Jayanti was celebrated on 31st October 2021.
4. Celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava at our college on 1st November 2020. All staff and students
participated in the programme.
5. Online Quiz competition on Constitutional Law was conducted on 26th November 2020.
6. Kanakadas Jayathi was celebrated on 3rd December 2020 and all staff and students participated in
the programme.
7. 70th Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2021.
8. On the eve of International Women`s Day special talk on “Career opportunities in Government
sector” was held. Smt. Sadhana A. Pote, Deputy Director, Commissionerate of Industrial Training
& Employment, Bengaluru was the resource person.
99. Health Awareness programme on “Importance of Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening an early
detection and Prevention for ladies staff and female students was organized on 10th March 2021.
Dr. Rama Desai, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Hubballi was resource person and Spoke on
“Prevention & Detection of Cervical & Breast Cancer” and Dr. Rupa Ingalahalli, Principal, JSS
Sakri Law College, Hubballi was the guest.
10. Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated on 14th April 2021.
11. Yoga Day celebration was conducted on 21st June 2021. Dr. Shridhar Gokhale, Vice-Principal
Yenepoya Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Mangaluru spoke on “Healthy Habits for
happiness and wellness” and Shri. Ramanagouda Patil, Yoga instructor and Vietnam spoke on the
topic “Basics and Importance of Yoga”.
12. Online Covid -19 Awareness Quiz Competition was organized for all the students.
13. Free Covid-19 vaccination drive was organized on 4th December 2021 and 20th August 2021.
14. 75th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2021.
Apart from these cleanliness and legal awareness programmes were conducted every week in and
around the college campus.
NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP:
NSS volunteers Miss. Madhu Goture of III LL.B.and Mr. Basavaraj Sarathi,of III LL.B.
represented KSLU-NSS Unit in National Integration Camp organized by Karnataka University, Dharwad
from 26th February 2021 to 4th March 2021.
LEGAL AID AND LEGAL LITERACY PROGRAMMES:
1. Awareness programme on Anti Liquor Moment was conducted at Chaitra School, Hubballi on 23 rd
January 2021. Dr. Sharada G. Patil, Principal, Smt. Preeti J. Kasturi and Smt. Swapna Somayaji
participated as resource persons.
2. Human Rights awareness programme was organized at Nrupatung Nagar on 10th December 2020.
Shri A. S. Parvatikar, Advocate Hubballi and Dr. S. M. Hullur were resource persons.
3. To mark the celebration of Constitution Day Online Awareness Programme on “One Nation One
Constitution,” was organized for the students and staff members of Govt. First Grade colleges of
Kalghatagi, Dandeli, Hubballi and Good News College, Hubballi on 26th November 2020.
4. Online awareness programme on “One Nation One Constitution,” was organized for the students and
staff members of Lions English Medium School, Hubballi on 26th November 2020. .
5. Online awareness programme on Constitutional values was organized on 26th November 2020 for the
staff and students of KIMS Hubballi, KLE Technological University Hubballi , Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya
10and Hospital, Heggeri and SDM Enginnering College, Dharwad other degree college faculty members &
students.
6. Poster writing competition was arranged to Law students on the eve of Human Rights Day.
7. Awarenes programme was organized in Central Jail Dharwad on the eve of Human Rights Day in
association with DLSA Dharwad, Central Jail, Dharwad and Dept of Press and public Information

Sharada G. Patil delivered the lecture on the topic “Constitutional Values”. In the next session Major

building”.
8. Awareness programme on Effects of Liquor, Drugs & Tobacco on Human Body and Mind; and on the
society was conducted in Association with Anti Liquor Initiative Group, Hubli-Dharwad at KLES`s M. R.

9. One Day Sensitization Programme for Teachers on “The Protection of Children from Sexual
Offence (POCSO) Act, 2012 on 24th March 2021. Dr. M. K. Matolli, Faculty, Government Law College,

10. Awareness programme on the eve of World Intellectual Property Rights day was conducted for the
law students on 26th April 2021. Mr. Shankar yalamali III Yr and Mr.Veeresh Sajjannavar I Yr presented

Yoga Day celebration was conducted on 21st June 2021. Dr. Shridhar Gokhale, Vice-Principal
Yenepoya Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Mangaluru spoke on “Healthy Habits for happiness
and wellness” and Shri. Ramanagouda Patil, Yoga instructor and Vietnam spoke on the topic “Basics and

1. Inter Class Debate Competition was conducted on 12th January 2021on the topic “Whether Online
Legal Education is effective” to select the Kannada and English debate penal of the college.

4. Poster Writing Competition was conducted on the eve of human Rights Day 10.12.2020
