2017 Watersports Participation Survey
● Volume of participants in ‘any boating activity’ are the highest since the
survey began in 2002
● Participation in ‘any boating activity’ increased by 0.8% points since 2016,
which equates to 461,000 more adults having taken part in a boating activity.
● Consumer confidence has been dropping since 2014, but ‘any boating

● Three of 10 events to be contested in Tokyo in 2020 replaced
