Fire retardant cabinets/pass-through cabinets are used in corridors between the
corridor and rooms, for example, cleaning rooms, wards, operating theatres,
medicine rooms etc.
APPROVAL
According to the Fire Resistance Assessment - from the Danish Institute of
Fire and Security Technology - 17.06.2004, the cabinets comply with the
requirements in DS 1051.2 for a BD pass-through cabinet 30 (test report B
17640 b). The doors have Danish Standard certification license number
671E. The relevant assessment is available. It should be noted that the
responsible local fire authority should always be contacted for final approval
before commissioning.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
The cabinet/pass-through cabinet comprises a standard cabinet/pass-through
cabinet, where one cabinet door is replaced by a single-leaf door - panel
thickness 40 mm. On the outside of the door leaf, a 19 mm Cleanline cabinet
door is affixed. The fire doors are fitted with a vertical door handle latch, which is
activated by turning the handle.
If the cabinet is to be delivered without plinth, a moulding on the outer door
and a steel moulding, which is milled in, and fastened to, the floor, are
enclosed. The joints between pass-through cabinets and adjoining building
elements are filled with stone wool, which is enclosed.
INSTALLATION
Pay attention to the fact that the distance to the closest perpendicular wall, up
to which the door will be opened, has to be at least 400 mm, allowing trays and
baskets to be pulled out of the modular side panels. The 400 mm should be part
of the building and not part of Scan Modul's delivery. There must be at least 2
layers of plasterboard or concrete, masonry or other fireproof material. If fitted
by the customer, the enclosed regulations from Trehøjde Døre A/S must be
followed, otherwise the installation requirements for fire protection will not be
met.
Free height:
2139 mm (2119 =standard cabinet height + 10 mm)/1864 + 20 mm = 1884 mm

Introduction
It is of great importance for the doors' fire and/or acoustic properties
that it be fitted correctly. The person fitting the door is responsible for
ensuring it is fitted as stipulated in this installation instruction. Before
starting to fit the door, check that the frame dimensions and the size of
the hole in the wall match, according to the requirements given below
for the width of the joints between the frame and the adjoining building
elements. If these size requirements are not met, the stipulated joint
width must made, following agreement with the building management,
in a way that does not degrade the door's fire and/or acoustic
properties.
Securing the frame
Place the assembled frame in the hole in the wall and wedge the frame
into place horizontally and vertically at each corner (fig. 1).
Fasten/wedge the frame to the adjoining building elements in at least
3 places on each side of the frame (fig. 1) and, for double-leaf doors,
also at least one place (centre) of the frame's top section.
Before final fixing, check that
• the frame is vertical and horizontal and
• that the frame is correctly placed in relation to the finished floor,
so the door leaf is free of the floor when opening to 90/180
degrees
Joint widths
After securing the frame in place and fitting the door leaf,
• the joints between the frame and the walls should have a
width between 5 and 20 mm (fig. 2).
• the distance between the edge of the door leaf to the frame
rebate on the side and top frame, as well as the centre joint
for double-leaf doors, should not be greater than 3 mm (fig.
3).
• the distance from the bottom edge of the door leaf to the
frame rebate in the bottom section (with stop) must not be
greater than 6 mm (fig. 4).
If the frame is installed without a bottom section, the distance from
the door leaf's bottom edge to non-flammable floor, or to a visible
steel or brass rail in the flooring, must not exceed 6 mm (fig. 5).
For an acoustic door, the seal against the stop has to be checked by
seeing if there is any noticeable friction when a piece of paper is pulled
through the stop (fig. 6).

Filling
The joints between frame and wall must be filled with mineral wool
compressed to a density corresponding to 3 m of mineral wool strip, 60
mm x 20 mm, per running metre of 10 mm wide joint (fig. 7).
Between the bottom section and the raw floor (the load bearing
structure), the entire width and depth of the bottom section must be
filled with mineral wool, as described for the joints between frame and
wall.
In addition, the joints enclosing an acoustic door 30 dB or above
must be sealed effectively using an elastic sealant against the
hottest/internal side of the door (fig. 8).
Door fittings
The door has to be fitted with the stipulated fittings and fixings EI2 3-C,
E 30-C, EI2 60-C with door closer (BD-30, F-30 and BD-60), and (for
double-leaf doors) espagnolette and door selector, and any other
fittings, after which it has to be checked.
• that the door leaf, and the lock's latch, can be moved freely.
• that the latch engages when the door closer closes the door
leaf from an opening greater than or equal to 300 mm.
• that the self-closing espagnolette (for double-leaf doors)
engages when the first closing door closes from an opening
as stated above, and that the door selector is working
correctly.
Locks that can prevent the doors from closing completely and the
retaining fixings engaging (e.g. lock with bolt), may only be used for
EI2, (BD doors) following prior agreement of the authorities.
For a EI2, (BD-30M) door, the door is not required to be self-closing.
Alternatively, fittings (except for escutcheons, keyhole plates, kick
plates, sealing strips and door closers) shall have a melting point of at
least 850 degrees C.
Other regulations
Milling, cutting or other machining of the door leaf and frame is not
permitted.
It is not permitted to fit letter boxes and spy holes.
Flammable flooring, e.g. carpet, must not be inserted under the door leaf
nor under the steel or brass rail, which possibly replace the bottom
section. The DS markings must not be painted over. Fire sealant can be
painted over, but not levelled out.
