 We have 19 YRE’s with over 40 walk routes available, 5-20 km! We invite you to
 join us in a walk around this beautiful part of the world. Get to know: Anacortes,
Bellingham (7 walks), Birch Bay, Blaine (2 walks), Burlington, Coupeville,
Deception Pass State Park, Ferndale, Friday Harbor, La Conner, Lynden and
Mount Vernon. AVA and ESVA Challenges met by NWTT walks can be found

Anacortes
Start Box Location: The Market at 1519 Commercial Ave.
Start/Finish Time: Daily from 6 am to 10 pm. County: Skagit, Fidalgo
Island

Downtown & Waterways: 5/10 km Rated 1A. Y0512. Walk
along the Cap Sante Marina and up to the top of Cap Sante for a view of
Anacortes and the surrounding channels and islands. View the Guemes
Channel passing boat works and historic Causland Park. Explore the
quaint downtown with many shops and restaurants.

Directions to Start: From I-5, Exit 230, Highway 20 west. Follow signs
for Anacortes. At Anacortes, follow Highway 20 as it turns right on
Commercial. Follow Commercial past 17th and turn right into store
parking lot. Start box is immediately to your left as you enter the store’s
main entrance.

             Bellingham -Fairhaven
Start Box Location: Acme Ice Cream Cafe, 1021 Harris Ave.
Start/Finish Time: Sun – Thurs 8 am to 7 pm, Fri & Sat 8 am to 7:30 pm,
Closed: holidays. County: Whatcom

Waterfront & WWU: new walk for 2021 5/11 km. Rated 2B. Y0365.
This walk takes you through historic Fairhaven, Western Washington
University campus with wonderful views of Bellingham Bay and outdoor
art displays, the gravel & paved South Bay Trail, Boulevard Park and
Taylor Dock, a popular walking trail. Restrooms available at start/finish
and along route.

Directions to start location: I-5 Exit 250, Fairhaven Parkway. From the
South turn left, from the North turn right. From Fairhaven Parkway, right
on 12th St. Left on Harris Ave. Right on 11th. Acme Ice Cream Café is
on the left at 1021 Harris Ave. Ask for Walk Box.

                  Bellingham - NE
Start Box Location: Haggen Food & Pharmacy, Barkley Village, 2900
Woburn
Start/Finish Time: Dawn - Dusk Daily. County: Whatcom

Trail #1-Whatcom Falls: 5, 6 & 10 km. Rated 2B. Y1268. Walk
through residential neighborhoods on trails around wooded Whatcom
Falls park with views of Bellingham and the San Juan Islands from the
Alabama St. Bridge. The trails are prepared and maintained on a gravel
base. Ideal for walkers using poles. Restrooms at start/finish and along
the route.
Trail #2 – North Lake Whatcom Trail: 5/10 km. Rated 1B.
Y1119. Drive to remote start after registering.
Lake Whatcom Trail (also known as the Hertz Trail) is a former railroad
bed with great views along the north shore of Lake Whatcom. Parking lots
for general public and special needs people at trailhead. The trail is
prepared and maintained on a gravel base. Ideal for walkers using walking
poles. Restroom at parking lot only.
Trail #3 – Chanterelle Trail: 5/10 km. Rated 3B. Y2593 Drive to
remote start after registering. Walk thru different stages of forest on a
well-maintained trail, some wooden bridges, moderate switchbacks and
view at the top of Lake Whatcom, Bellingham & Whatcom County. Then
finishing the walk along Lake Whatcom to some waterfalls and a covered
bridge.
Directions to all 3 trails start location: 2900 Woburn. From South or
North, take: I-5 Exit 255 for Rt542/Sunset Drive. After exit, northbound
turn right; southbound turn left onto Sunset Drive. Proceed 4-5 blocks. At
Woburn Avenue, turn right and go a few blocks to Haggen. Open 6 am -
11 pm daily

                    Bellingham - NW
Start Box Location: Haggen Food & Pharmacy, 2814 Meridian
Start/Finish Time: 6 am-11 pm daily. County: Whatcom

Trail #1: Cornwall Park - 5/10 km. Rated 2B. Y1142. Walk through
Cornwall park, residential neighborhoods, Squalicum Creek park,
Squalicum beach and Bellingham Vocational College on improved trails
and some city streets. Restrooms at start/finish and along the way .
Trail #2: Marina – 10 km. Rated 1A. Y0929. Walk through
wonderful historical neighborhoods, the marina, by the newly renovated
Theatre Guild bldg. and views of Bellingham Bay. Walk through the new
Waypoint Park. Restrooms start/finish and along the way.
Directions to Start: From I-5 North, take exit 256, Bellis Fair and turn
left onto Meridian to start point. From I-5 South, take exit 256 and turn
right on Meridian to store. Ask for walk box at Customer Service desk.

                  Bellingham - Cordata
Start Box Location: Community Food Co-op, 315 Westerly Rd.
Start/Finish Time: Daily 7 am–9 pm. Closed: Major Holidays
County: Whatcom

Cordata Neighborhood: revised walk for 2021 6/11 km. Rated
1B. Y1713. Walk on city sidewalks, wooded trails, through residential
neighborhoods, a new city park, and the campus of Whatcom
Community College.
Directions to Start: Driving I-5 southbound take exit 258, Bakerview
exit, left over I-5, left on Eliza Ave., right on Westerly Rd. right into the
Co-op parking lot. Northbound I-5 take exit 256 B, left on Bellis Fair
Pkwy, pass Target and left on Eliza Ave. Cross Bakerview, right on
Westerly Rd. Right into the Co-op parking lot. Register & drive to
start.

                          Birch Bay
Start Box Location: Beachwood Grocery Store, 5000 Helwig Rd, Blaine
Start/Finish Time: Sun 6am-2pm, Mon-Sat 6am-9pm
County: Whatcom

Birch Bay: 5, 8 & 10 km Rated 1-B. Y2417. Walk thru beautiful
Birch Bay St. Park, Terrell Marsh Trail, along Terrell Creek and Birch
Bay neighborhoods with views of Point Roberts and the Canadian
Islands. Enjoy the waterfront and wildlife such as eagles & heron along
the way. Stop for a picture at the marsh overlook. Restrooms available on
this route.

Directions to Start: From I-5 Exit 266 (Grandview) - Go west on
Grandview, make a right turn at the stop sign onto Jackson Rd., go about
a mile and turn left onto Helwig going towards the park. Go .3 mi, store
will be on the right. The walk box is at the right, front corner in the store.
Register and drive to start point. WA State Park Discovery Pass is
required for parking, $10/day or $30/ year.

          Blaine – Peace Arch Park
Start Box Location: Blaine Starbucks, 530 Peace Portal Dr
Start/Finish Time: Daily 5am-9pm

Peace Arch Park: 5/10km. Rated 1B. Y1679. Walk thru the Peace
Arch Park, Blaine Marine park, pier, boat docks, downtown and
residential areas of Blaine. Great views of White Rock, Semiahmoo, Mt.
Baker, Pt. Roberts and Drayton Harbor along the way.

Directions to Start: Starbucks: 530 Peace Portal Dr. From BC after
clearing customs take the Blaine exit, use 2nd exit on roundabout, From

I-5 northbound, take exit #276 then use the 4th roundabout exit (driving
under I-5) on the 2nd roundabout use the 2nd exit on Peace Portal Dr.

     Blaine – Semiahmoo                          New walk for 2020
Start Box Location: Semiahmoo Resort, Blaine
Start/Finish Time: Daylight hours

Semiahmoo: 5/10 km. Rated 2B. Y2594. Walk along paths, trails and
roads of Semiahmoo enjoying the views of Drayton Harbor on one side
and Semiahmoo Bay on the other. Also views of Mt. Baker, White Rock,
Blaine and Pt. Roberts. Ample water fowl can be viewed on this walk.

Directions to Start: Semiahmoo Resort, 9565 Semiahmoo Pkwy. Blaine.
From Blaine or B.C. drive south on Peace Portal Dr. Right on Blaine Rd.
(then follow northbound directions). From I-5 northbound take exit 274,
Right on Peace Portal Dr. Left on Blaine Rd. Right on Drayton Harbor Rd.
Right on Semiahmoo Pkwy. Right on 3rd round a bout exit. Park and enter
the main Semiahmoo Resort entrance. The walk binder is located at the
front desk. You may have to request it

     Burlington – Downtown &
           Skagit River
Start Box Location: Haggen Market, 757 Haggen Drive, Burlington
Start/Finish Time: 9am–9pm Mon-Fri, 9am–7pm Sat & Sun
County: Skagit.

Downtown & Skagit River: 5/10 km. Rated 1B. Y1277. Walk
on the dike bordering the Skagit River and through the old business
district including small shops, nice restaurants and a restored train

                         Coupeville
Start Box Location: Coupeville Inn, 200 Coveland St., Coupeville
Start/Finish Time: Daylight hours 10am-6pm. County: Island

Historic Town and Country: revised walk for 2021 5/6/11 km.
Rated 2B. Y1548. Walk in the historic town of Coupeville and along
country roads and trails in Ebey’s Landing Historical Reserve with views
of Puget Sound and farm fields. Views of Penn Cove, Puget Sound,
Olympic Mountains, and on clear days Mt. Baker & Mt. Rainier. The
bluff trail offers views of Port Townsend, Protection Island, Dungeness,
the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island and more. Part of walk is on
rural roads.
5K option with a remote start that walks the bluff and wooded trails
overlooking Ebey's Prairie. Dogs ok on leash but not in
buildings. Strollers: hard| Wheelchairs: NO | Pets: Yes |Restrooms: Yes

Directions to Start:200 NW Coveland St, Coupeville. Follow SR 20 to
traffic light in Coupeville. From North, turn left, from South turn right at
the stop light onto Main Street. Left on Coveland St two blocks to
Coupeville Inn on your right. Registration in a zipper binder in the corner
drawer of the lobby. Open from 10am - 6pm. Restroom within the first K
of the walk across Alexander St. behind the Chamber of Commerce
Office, and along the route. Do not park in Coupeville Inn parking lot.

N. Deception Pass State Park
Start Box Location: New Location Farm House Restaurant, 13724 La
Conner / Whitney Road
Start/Finish Time: 7 am-9 pm daily, County: Skagit

Note this is a seasonal walk: April -Sept

Deception Pass State Park: Walk the north or south side of
Deception Pass State Park or both for 20K . 5/10/20 km. Rated 2B.
Y1681. Walks are entirely within the park. Views include Puget Sound,
San Juan Islands, Olympic Mountains and Deception Pass Bridge. Walk
through old growth forest, and walk across the Deception Pass Bridge.
Several gradual hills. Food, water, picnic supplies and toilets at
start/finish and along route. Picnic spots. Take water. Not suitable for
wheelchairs/strollers. Photo opportunities at every turn. WA State Park
Discovery Pass required - $10 per day or $30 per year. Hours: Mon-Sat 7
am- 6 pm, Sun 8 am - 6 pm

Directions to Start Box: From I-5, take Exit 230 Burlington to Highway
20 West. Follow signs toward Anacortes. Left at stop light toward La
Conner. Immediate Right into the Farmhouse Restaurant parking lot. Start
box is inside entryway. Register and drive 13 miles to start (East
Cranberry Lake parking lot, Deception Pass State Park).
A Discover Pass is required for parking.

                         Ferndale

Start/Finish Time: 9am–9pm Mon-Fri, 9am–7pm Sat, 9-6 Sun.

Ferndale: 5/11 km. Rated 2B. Y1005. Walk thru downtown, Pioneer,
Hovander Homestead, Tennent Lake parks and along the Nooksack
River. Enjoy murals, historic buildings and views of Mt Baker as you
walk through Ferndale's parks and downtown. Wonderful boardwalk
through Tennent Lake (closed hunting season). Restrooms at start and
along route.
Directions to Start: From north or south I-5, Exit 262 Ferndale, Right on
Main St. Left on La Bounty Dr. (signal) Haggen is on your right. Hours 9
am - 9 pm Mon-Fri; 9 am - 7 pm Sat; 9 am- 6 pm Sun.

      Friday Harbor/San Juan
              Island
Start Box Location: The Market at 1519 Commercial Ave., Anacortes.
Start/Finish Time: Daily from 6 am to 10 pm. County: San Juan

Friday Harbor/San Juan Island: 5/6/11 km. Rated 2A. Y0987.
Register for this walk in Anacortes and then drive 4.4 miles to the
ferry. (Fee parking at ferry terminal). Walk begins and ends from the
ferry landing in Friday Harbor. Walk along country roads with fabulous
water views. The walk finishes through downtown Friday Harbor. The 5
km stays in Friday Harbor business and residential districts. Toilets
available at ferry landing but not on the walk routes. Take water as there
is none on the route. Check ferry sailing times at:

Directions to Start: From I-5, Exit 230, Highway 20 west. Follow signs
for Anacortes. At Anacortes, follow Highway 20 as it turns right on

main entrance. Walking directions include driving directions to Anacortes
Ferry Terminal. Walk starts at Ferry Dock in Friday Harbor.

Start Box Location: Farm House Restaurant, 13724 La Conner / Whitney
Road

the marina and along the beautiful Swinomish Channel on a new
walkway. Walk along First Street browsing in the unique gift shops and
galleries. Walk through Pioneer Park. There are many restaurants and fun
sculptures along the way. Restrooms along the route.
Directions to Start Box: I-5, to Exit 230 Burlington to Highway 20 West.
Follow signs toward Anacortes. Left at stop light toward La Conner.
Immediate Right into the Farmhouse Restaurant parking lot. Start box is
inside entryway. Register and drive 5 miles to start.

                           Lynden
Start Box Location: Lynden Food Pavilion, 8130 Washington 539.
Start/Finish Time: Daily dawn to dusk County: Whatcom

Town and Parks: 5/10 km. Rated 1A. Y0943. Walk through the
picturesque Dutch themed town in residential areas, downtown and parks
with views of Mt. Baker and the Canadian Cascades. Restrooms at start,
finish and along the way.
Directions to Start: I-5, Exit 256A, Bellingham. Right on Guide Meridian
for 10.5 miles. Right at stoplight at Kok Road. Food Pavilion is in the
shopping center on your left.

Mount Vernon – East: 10km. Rated 2A. Y1275. 10 km -Walk
from Downtown to nice neighborhoods with lovely gardens. Through the
Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hillcrest and Kiwanis Parks. Strollers:
Medium | Wheelchairs: Hard | Pets: Yes | Restrooms: Yes
Mount Vernon – East (Riverwalk): 6 km. Rated 1A. Y1275.
Walk through downtown Mount Vernon passing many local restaurants
and small businesses, including the historic Lincoln Theatre. Pass
through quiet residential areas. Enjoy the Riverwalk with beautiful views
of the Skagit River and Skagit Valley. Picnic spots along route.

Directions to Start: I-5 Exit 226. Southbound - turn right on W.
Kincaid, Northbound - turn left under the bridge on W. Kincaid St.
(both) Cross railroad tracks and proceed three blocks to 1st St South.
Turn right. Proceed to Gates St. and turn left. Park in Riverwalk parking
lot. Restrooms are adjacent to Riverwalk plaza and parking. Walk one
block east on Gates Street (away from the river) to 1st St. Cross and Left
on 1st St. Ristretto is near the corner of Gates St. and 1st St. S. on the
east side of the street. Start box is located on the bottom shelf of the
display shelf on your right after entering store.

do! The local club is the NW Tulip Trekkers. Our members
typically come from Island, Skagit, Snohomish and Whatcom

individual and $10 per family. Besides hosting Traditional events
(offered usually one time only) and many Year-Round events
(YRE’s), our members get together to walk our own YREs or

for a walk in Bellingham

NW Tulip Trekkers invite you to join us in our walk around
Bellingham City, Bay, Whatcom Creek and Farmer’s Market.
Please also take time to enjoy some of our many other walks
around this beautiful part of the world in which we live!!

Event takes place regardless of weather except where otherwise
noted, pets are permitted, but not in buildings. Owners are
responsible for leash and cleanup laws. and/or material damage.

Start Time: 9:30 am until 11:30 am at Bellingham Senior Center,
315 Halleck Street Finish Time: 2:30 pm Distances: 6k and 11k
AVA Credit: $3.00. All walkers must register, carry and return a
start card. AVA sanctioned event – Eligible for credit toward IVV
Achievement Awards.
