Competitive Mooting 2022-2023
Why Mooting?
Competitive mooting is demanding, but exciting and rewarding. It is an
opportunity to develop advocacy skills and present a case before
experienced judges.
Selected students represent the Faculty at Canadian and international
mooting competitions.
Students who are interested in analyzing and researching complex legal
problems, developing arguments and advocacy skills.
Competitive Mooting 2022-2023
Eligibility
❖Students must have completed PRAC 200 Advocacy
❖Students must be entering into third or fourth year
❖Students cannot do a competitive moot if they are going on exchange
in the same year.
❖Consider the number of non-course credits (e.g. legal clinic, Law
journals, clerkships…) you wish to take – the limit is 15 credits total.

                      you may have to make choices!
Managing your academic
commitments
❖be prepared to devote a substantial amount of time to your moot
competition without jeopardizing your other academic obligations.
❖meet your teammates early in the year to establish a timeline for
factum drafts and practice sessions.
❖keep in mind course selection and methods of evaluation.
Course Registration
PRAC 510 Advance Mooting (3 non course credits P/F)
Options:
1. Fall term 3c
2. Winter term 3c
3. Split full year 1.5c/1.5c
Register directly via Minerva
Final grade only appears in May
(Note: Max 15 non course credits)

Try-outs
When: Monday April 4 & Friday April 8
Where: Remotely on Zoom
Material for try outs (Facta and instructions) will be on SAO website as of March 30,
2022.
