A section of the Iowa River Trail stretching from the Iowa River Power
Restaurant parking lot to the corner of E. 7th Street and Quarry Road
has been closed since fall 2017 due to construction on multiple projects
in the Iowa River Landing which directly impact the trail. At times, the
closed trail section has been under 20 feet of soil.
Reopening this section of trail as soon as possible is a priority.
The timing of each project, as well as the weather, affects the timeline,
and staff assess the trail status each week. As soon as construction is
complete on the projects which will use the dirt stockpiled in the area,
the trail connection will be restored.
