LANDROVER DISCOVERY
TOWER BRIDGE
The biggest project we’ve worked on is a 40m scaled
model of Tower Bridge that was used to launch
Landrovers’ Discovery model alongside the likes of Bear
Grylls, Ben Ainslie and Zara Tindall. A Guinness World
Record which used 5,805,846 bricks and took 6 months to
build!
This epic structure was the first of its kind to be created
and nothing like this had ever been attempted before.
Not only did the design have to be meticulously planned
right down to the minutest detail, it also had to be fully-
functioning, being able to hold the weight of 2 Landrovers
as the bridge opened.

FORMULA 1 CAR
The Force India F1 car would be our fastest car if it wasn’t
made of bricks!
This amazing build used 278,949 bricks and weighed
737kg. At over 2m long and 1m high, it took 228 hours to
design and another 925 hours to build.
Commissioned by the team’s sponsor INTERprotección, the
model took centre stage at the Mexican Grand Prix in 2018.

MCLAREN 720S,
GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED
McLaren revealed an incredible creation of their
720S supercar on its stand at the Goodwood
Festival of Speed in 2017. Made from 267,300 toy bricks,
the life-size model is what childhood dreams are made
of. It took six people more than 2,000 hours to complete.
The real-life McLaren 720S weighs just 1,283kg. Our
model tipped the scales at around 1,600kg but then toy
bricks aren’t really built for those kinds of speed!
McLaren asked visitors at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
to add the final bricks to the supercar. This entailed a lot
of work because over 12,700 bricks were required to
complete the construction. The design even included
depictions of the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres with the
infamous silver markings.

THE ICE BRIDGE,
HONG KONG
Back in March 2018, our world record-breaking longest
span toy brick bridge began its latest exhibition in the
bustling metropolis of Hong Kong.
The bridge, originally built with the assistance of the
world-renowned Institute of Civil Engineers in 2016,
stood proudly in the Elements Shopping Centre in West
Kowloon, in the somewhat appropriate metal zone.
The 3m tall bridge is comprised of over 200,000 individual
bricks and was built by the combined efforts of eight schools
in the UK, at One Great George Street in Westminster.
The bridge’s presence in Hong Kong was to commemorate
the ICE’s 200th anniversary. Professor Ken Ho, Chair-
man, of the ICE Hong Kong Association, said;
“With this exhibition, we showcase civil engineering
and wish to ignite new excitement for the
ingenuity, creativity and contributions of our
profession among a new generation of Hong Kong
youth.”

TRENT 1000,
ROLLS ROYCE JET ENGINE
Rolls-Royce appointed us to design and build a
working one-half scale model of the Trent 1000, the
engine used on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Rolls Royce
toy brick engine attracted massive crowds and media
interest at the 2012 Farnborough Air Show and was one of
the main talking points of the airshow’s Innovation Zone.
When Rolls-Royce decided to promote itself and
engage young people in pursuing careers in
engineering, science and maths, they turned to us to
design and build an incredible working Rolls Royce toy
brick engine model of the Trent 1000 turbofan aero engine.
The scale model took centre stage on the Rolls-Royce
stand at the 2012 Farnborough International Air Show.

MOTORHOME AND CARAVAN
SHOW (RECORD-BREAKING CARAVAN)
After 12 weeks of construction, more than 1,000 hours
and 215,158 bricks, the largest caravan built was unveiled at
the Motorhome and Caravan show held in the NEC in
Birmingham in 2015.
The life-sized camper was based on a real “teardrop”
style caravan as required by the Guinness World Records
guidelines and featured fully-functioning amenities
including a sink with running water, electric lights, a bed,
seating, a chess set, toothbrushes and even simulated
cooking facilities and fridge.
James Bissett, Marketing Campaign Director for NCC
Events, Organiser of the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome
Show, said;
“We wanted to create something truly unique to
celebrate 130 years of leisure caravanning and we
are absolutely delighted with our record-breaking
model.”

QUEEN MARY I
SHIP
The Queen Mary is arguably the most iconic part of Long
Beach, so it would make sense that in honour of the famed
British ship’s history, we would construct a model of the
ship 1/40th its size using 250,000 toy bricks.
Measuring 26 feet in length, over three feet wide, four-and-
a-half feet high, and weighing over 600 pounds, the model
is a true masterpiece and officially takes on the moniker of
the world’s largest brick model ship.
Designed by Ed Diment, and taking over 600 hours to
construct, the model is on display in The Shipyard gallery
on the Promenade Deck midship.

NODDY HOLDER,
NEW STREET STATION
Merry Christmas, Birmingham!… Visitors to New Street
station were greeted by a life-size recreation of one of
the Midlands’ most famous musicians in December 2018.
This colourful Noddy sculpture was commissioned by
Retail BID Birmingham, the Business Improvement
District for the city centre retail area, and is in aid of the
work of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, with
Noddy selfie-snappers encouraged to donate to the charity
and support the #momentsofmagic campaign.
Noddy Holder said:
“I’m really chuffed! It’s a great honour to have the
statue made and I know a lot of hours have
gone into it. The fact that it is helping to raise
funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Charity at Christmas time makes it feel extra
special.”

HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT
2018 saw the launch of UK Parliament Week, a UK-
wide festival taking place from 12-18 November, which
sought to engage people - especially young people from
different backgrounds and communities - with the UK
Parliament and empower them to get involved.
Last year’s festival was more significant than ever, as it
formed part of the UK Parliament’s Vote 100 programme.
Parliament Week marked Vote 100 by launching the
#nameoursister campaign, which invited people across the
country to suggest a name for the specially commissioned
toy brick Suffragette.
She was used in the UK Parliament Education Centre, and
loaned across the UK to schools, museums and many
organisations, to teach generations about the fight for
equal voting rights.

CLATTERBRIDGE
HOSPITAL
The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity commissioned the Big
Brick Hospital, which will consist of half a million bricks, to
raise money for a new specialist cancer centre, currently
under construction in Liverpool city centre.
When complete the model will measure 1.6m x 2.8m x 1.6m
high. It will contain more than 100 rooms replicating a
hospital including 150 beds, kitchens and MRI scanners.
Each bed is made up of 49 bricks equaling a total of 7350
bricks just for the beds alone. It will be one of the
biggest toy brick structures in the UK and the first ever
hospital of its kind to be made in this way in the world.
“We have been overwhelmed by the donations so
far which have allowed us, in partnership with
Bright Bricks, to construct the foundations of the
model hospital and the beginnings of the Radiotherapy
department”.

DURHAM
CATHEDRAL
A scale replica of a historic English cathedral was
created using 300,000 toy bricks in a bid to raise
money.
The miniature model of Durham Cathedral was a perfect
representation which spanned 3.84 metres long, 1.53
metres wide and 1.7 metres high when finished.
It was constructed to raise money for the church’s ‘open
project’ which aimed to transform public access to some of
the Cathedral’s most spectacular spaces.
The ambitious project began in July 2013 when television
presenter and historian Jonathan Foyle laid the first brick.

FLYBE
REPLICA PLANE
A Flybe plane was brought to life in toy bricks at
Southampton Airport.
We collaborated with Hampshire Cultural Trust’s
Milestones Museum and Southampton Airport, using over
18,000 bricks to create a live public build of Flybe’s iconic
Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft in the airport’s passenger
terminal.
The airplane model was built at 1:20 scale, measuring
approximately 1.8m long, with a wingspan of 1.4m.
“We were honoured to be working with Hampshire
Cultural Trust, Bright Bricks and Flybe on this
unusual project. Our passengers were fascinated
by the live build and we were delighted to be able to
support and promote this wonderful attraction in our
region.”
