HTML file                             The HTML5 advertising material should be supplied in a single HTML file.
                                      None of the HTML files supplied should be named ‘index.html’.

File hierarchy and folder structure   The layer and folder structure should contain a maximum of one layer (scripts, images).

File number and code                  In order to minimise server requests, the number of individual elements should be kept as low as possible.

Animation                             Multiple simultaneous animations and overlapping transparent graphics are to be avoided. CPU and GPU utilisation should be borne in
                                      mind when using CSS3 or JavaScript animations.

Browser compatibility and fallback    Since not all desired features or libraries are supported by all browsers, we advise that you submit fallback JPG or GIF files if a lack of
                                      browser support leads to non-representable advertisements. The advertisement materials are to be tested on all browsers by the client.
                                      Condé Nast reserves the right to exclude specific browser versions from the submission of advertising material.

Frameworks, libraries and             HTML5 advertising materials are played on the websites within a frame in order to avoid complications with functionalities of the
namespaces                            website. Frameworks and libraries (e.g. Bootstrap) can be included within our frame. When global JavaScript variables are used, they

                                      should run in their own namespace or alternatively be clearly named. Likewise, names for the assignment of HTML IDs and ID, class and
                                      type selectors in CSS must be clearly selected.

Submission                            The HTML5 advertising material will be delivered to the brand or agency as a compressed zip archive, which has to include all elements
                                      of the advertising material, with the exception of external added libraries or fonts. The zip archive must be a .html document (not
                                      index.html ) and all included scripts and elements have to be linked relatively. In the event of external hosting, absolute links must be
                                      used. Alternatively, a redirect may be supplied. In this case, all aforementioned standards regarding document size and file number
                                      must be adhered to.

Technical specifications/ad formats with sound (polite banners)

Advertising materials with initial sound are not permitted, with
the exception of advertising materials that start in mute mode
and that are activated by means of clicking on the speaker
icon. The maximum duration is 30 seconds. We recommend
a highly visible audio bar with the commands ‘Volume’,
‘Start’ and ‘Stop’. Sound should not be activated by means
of mouseover.

Additional guidelines for social media ads

Ads will only be shown on the public newsfeed and not on fan pages. This ensures that the post can be optimised in order to
achieve the best results based on your campaign objectives. The advantage of this is that the promoted brand is presented in a
closed environment that does not come into conflict with other advertisers or editorial content.
It is also necessary for the Condé Nast brands (VOGUE, GQ, GLAMOUR, AD) to tag the client’s fan page with the ‘branded content
tag’ (handshake).

Branded content tag:
•     In the case of sponsored posts (both on Facebook and on Instagram), Condé Nast is obliged to name the business partner.
•     The business partner must have an official Facebook page.
•     Each Condé Nast publication must be approved by the business partner as a ‘branded content partner’ on a one-off basis.
•     The page approval must be granted by the business partner on their own fan page under ‘Branded content’:

Additional guidelines for social media ads

Images:
•     Use of high-resolution, high-contrast images and a visual style that is in keeping with Condé Nast
•     Coherence between images and copy (message)
•     A lack of text on images will be ‘penalised’ or will not even get through the Facebook algorithm
•     Ideally, at least two or three different image motifs should be tested
Copy:
•     The ideal copy length is no more than 60 characters.
•     Too much copy is distracting and can have a negative impact on reach
•     No advertising copy: a ‘native’ message that fits the brand identity helps generate more credibility and interaction
•     Clear user targeting and a focus on one message per ad
•     Moderate use of emojis
•     Hashtags have no positive influence on performance on Facebook On Instagram, a few punchy hashtags improve clarity
•     Calls for interaction (e.g. asking questions, competitions/contests) boost engagement and increase organic reach
