                                                   SYNOPSIS

It‘s double trouble when fate and an ill-executed
diamond robbery throw Mel and Lise together in
a race and chase against time.
Mel, a professional criminal and single mum
looking to pull off her greatest coup, and her
nerdy, easily panic-stricken hostage Lise are soon
pursued by the relentless detective Ingrid, who
always gets her man, or women, at any price.
On the run, the mismatched and constantly
fighting pair have to dispose of the loot in the face
of a Berlin underworld also determined to get its
hands on them and the precious stones.
As the forces of law and disorder close in, Lise
develops a liking for Mel, deciding she is going to
help her ‚captor‘. Mel is far less than enthusiastic,
especially given Lise‘s idea of support. With no

                                                   tag team.
But when Mel then adds the good looking cop
Harry to her collection of hostages and Lise
immediately falls for him, the chaos becomes

make it through one day without each other, but
every day is a constant battle to see who’s the
biggest and the best. Everything changes when
they find themselves sitting at home without
any possessions, naked and freezing. It’s day 1 of
a 100-day wager Toni and Paul have made with

                                                 SYNOPSIS

THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE is a film adaptation
of Henry James’ 19th century novella of the
same name. Set in a remote English country
mansion and stretching from the Jamesian era
to a globalized present-day setting, the film uses

love story of John Marcher (Dane Jeremy Hurst)

May reminds John that he once revealed to her
a deep and menacing conviction that his life
would be defined by a life-changing experience
                                                 – one that was waiting for him “like a Beast in

this foreboding secret, May decides to stay by
John’s side and soon develops feelings of genuine
love for him. John is not able to reciprocate
her devotion, preferring instead to resume his
shallow life as a travelling businessman. Only

mum becomes more and more depressed after
an operation. Hans-Peter’s sad and hardworking
father leaves him mostly in the care of his two
grandmas, both of whom have big hearts and
strong personalities. Their love and care make it
possible for Hans-Peter to survive the ensuing
emotional turmoil and use his comedic talents to

                                           SYNOPSIS

Through a curious mix-up, the petty criminal
Denis suddenly finds himself in the position of a
caretaker for the stroke patient Raimund. All he
really wanted to do was break into Raimund’s
house in order to finally pay off his debts to some
disagreeable crooks. Instead, he now sits captive
in the rich businessman’s house, who, since his
seizure has been confined to a wheelchair. When
Raimund’s granddaughter Charlotte shows up to
check on him, it’s finally too much for Denis. But
escape is not an option as a mighty snowstorm
is raging in the region. And so he must continue
to play the role of the caretaker – very much
to Raimund’s dismay, who is doing everything
he can to fend off the intruder. In contrast to
Charlotte, Raimund has long since seen through
Denis’ facade. A cat-and-mouse game begins,
in which the handicapped senior and the clever
young man put their resources to terrific use...

                                       SYNOPSIS

A different kind of zombie film. Female written,
                                       directed, shot and produced.

Two years after zombies have overrun the earth,
the German towns of Weimar and Jena are the
last hold-outs of human civilization. Two young
women, VIVI and EVA, flee the confines of the
                                       Weimar zombie-free community. Their journey
takes them into a lush and beautiful post-
apocalyptic landscape: in the absence of humans,
nature has taken over. Finally realizing that the
fight against the undead may not be theirs, a new
                                       understanding emerges.

                                              SYNOPSIS

In 1939, Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff, two young
émigrés from Berlin, founded the legendary jazz
label Blue Note Records in New York. The label
dedicated itself exclusively to the recording
of American jazz music and developed its own
                                              unmistakeable recording style and sound.

Blue Note Records discovered and produced
an impressive roster of international jazz stars.
This included Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock,
John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter,
Thelonious Monk and Quincy Jones. At a time
when Afro-American musicians in the USA were
discriminated against and ostracised, Blue Note
records respected them as artists and equals. Not
only did the label value their talents, it also gave
                                              them a much-needed stage. „It Must Schwing!“
tells the moving story of two friends, united by
a passionate love for jazz, and of their profound
belief in equality and freedom for every single
                                              human being.

                                                 SYNOPSIS

Marleen is a young woman whose life hasn’t
started yet. Already in her early 20s, she still
lives at home with her parents and has no goals
or aspirations to speak of. Like a lot of people her
age, she’s stuck in a rut that seems impossible to
overcome. Even her beloved big brother can’t
save her from what looks like a permanent slump.
Ultimately, it takes a personal tragedy to shake
her awake. Out of a sense of guilt and despair,
Marleen embarks on an adventure she’s clearly
not prepared for. Indeed, there’s a ship waiting
in Hamburg to sweep her off to Antarctica.
But how is she supposed to get there with only
eight euros in her pocket? It’s the beginning of
a storybook journey that’s just as funny as it is
emotionally poignant. In the course of her road-
trip adventure, Marleen realizes the world is full
of people who are even wilder and crazier than
she is. She also makes an unexpected discovery:
the further she travels away from home, the
                                                 closer she gets to herself.

Max Frisch’s Homo Faber, curve sketching and
toxic asbestos in the restrooms: It’s just another
stressful year at Goethe Comprehensive School.
But this time teacher Zeki Miller (Elyas M‘Barek)
is actually keen on whipping his students into
shape to pass their A-Levels. Unfortunately,

(Jella Haase), Danger (Max von der Groeben) and
Zeynep (Gizem Emre) – are simply not having
it. In fact, the guidance counselor at the Job
Information Center (JIC) has just quashed any
dreams they had about their future prospects.
Indeed, at this point, their frustration has
reached a new level, which means they’re
getting into even more trouble and refusing to
do anything at all. How on earth is Mr. Miller
going to motivate these teens? He can’t even

(Katja Riemann), who’s already at loggerheads
with the Department of Education for heading

to these very “problem” students. At least Mr.

One day, Frank (11) finds a real live monkey in his
family’s backyard. The monkey’s name is Monky
and her arrival is the beginning of a fun and exciting
adventure for the entire family. However, it does
not take long before the family realize that she is
no ordinary monkey, and it was no coincidence
that she showed up in their backyard. Who is
Monky? Where does she come from? Will they be
able to keep her a secret in the village? A thrilling
journey leads the family from Sweden to the
deepest jungles of Thailand in search of answers.

The wealthy and rather bored landscape
architect Evi Müller-Todt (Katja Riemann) lives
with her plastic surgeon husband Claus (Oliver
Masucci) in their comfortable villa. One day,
in a burst of red-wine-induced whimsy, Claus
takes out an ad for a new cleaner: “Slave wanted
(m/f)”. Astonished by the leather-clad figures
that soon gather at his door, he realises his ad
has been taken quite literally. At the behest of
a shocked Evi, Claus sends the applicants away,
only to receive an unexpected courtesy call from
                                    Bartos (Samuel Finzi). Well-groomed, educated
and ready to serve, Bartos signals his willingness
to enter into a more traditional master-servant
relationship. After some initial snags, the Müller-

they receive from their new servant, who is soon

the situation gets increasingly out of hand.

A Piece of my Heart
                                              SYNOPSIS

Isabella (35) is a driven business woman in
Stockholm’s finance world. When she goes home
to the small town she grew up in to celebrate
her father’s sixtieth birthday, she feels like a
winner, the only one in her old school gang
that things have really gone well for. Isabella’s
selfconfidence falters when she realizes that
Simon, her great love from her teen years, is
going to marry Isabella’s childhood friend Molly,
and that she isn’t invited to the wedding. Isabella
is accustomed to getting what she wants, and it
disturbs her to see Simon so happy with someone
else. Unfortunately, there are some feelings that
                                              never go away.

A PIECE OF MY HEART is based on the musical
work of legendary Swedish artist Tomas Ledin.
