CH eligibility
The EC will add the sentence below to all Work Programmes of Horizon Europe, meaning that
researchers established in Switzerland are eligible (e.g. for the first ERC calls) until first Horizon
Europe contracts will signed later in 2021 (presumably fall 2021).
 Countries associated to Horizon Europe
At the date of the publication of the Work Programme, there are no countries associated to
Horizon Europe. Considering the Union’s interest to retain, in principle, relations with the
countries associated to Horizon 2020, most third countries associated to Horizon 2020 are
expected to be associated to Horizon Europe by the time the first grant agreements under Horizon
Europe are signed. For the purposes of the eligibility conditions, applicants established in Horizon
2020 Associated Countries will be treated as entities established in an Associated Country,
subject to the applicability of the association agreements under Horizon Europe.

If by the time the first ERC contracts need to be signed Switzerland is still not associated,
the SERI will fund the successful Swiss proposals based on the evaluation by the EC.
