6EuroBrake Student Opportunities
Programme 2020
EuroBrake 2019 saw the third successful Student Opportunities
Programme, where 50 engineering students from around the world were
given the unique opportunity to attend EuroBrake as part of an industry
sponsored programme.
At EuroBrake 2020 the Student Opportunities Programme will again
offer students the chance to attend and participate in the world’s
largest conference and exhibition dedicated to braking technology.
Students will:
n Meet with top experts from industry and academia
n Access the exclusive Students’ Lounge to network with peers
and professionals
n Attend a dedicated Introductory Lecture on the basics of
braking, including a valuable overview of key EuroBrake
sessions
n Discuss career options and get CV advice from brake industry
executives

Future Mobility – Factors Driving the Evolution of Autonomous Vehicles and the Impact on Vehicle and Brake System Design
Dr. James W. Fash
Head of Advanced Chassis Systems, Zoox LLC.
The automotive industry is facing unprecedented change driven by several Global Trends. Societal factors and technology trends that
are the fundamental drivers for these changes will in turn impact the vehicle architecture and component system requirements and
design.
The emerging electric vehicle will have a subtle impact on today’s vehicle and brake system requiring changes to address the impact of
regenerative braking on the system usage profile. Looking farther into the future, the impact of autonomous shared mobility will have
a substantially greater impact.
This presentation will discuss the societal factors and technology trends driving change in mobility expectations, potential impacts on
vehicle architecture and changes to the brake system design and engineering development processes.
Wind Turbines, Essential for Energy Transition and Technically Challenging
Santiago Canedo – Senior Mechanical Engineer, X1 Wind
The energy transition is the term for the transition from the unsustainable use of fossil fuels and nuclear energy to a sustainable energy
supply by means of renewable energies.
The main motivations for this transformation are global warming, the finite nature and instability of fossil fuel supply and the problems
with nuclear energy.
In addition to solar power plants, wind turbines will in future bear the brunt of a renewable energy system. The performance of wind
turbines has quadrupled in the last 20 years.
The ever-larger turbines also increase the technical requirements and technical challenges for wind turbines.
We enable a global standard
