GENERAL INFORMATION
  Dear Neighbor,
It is good to be able to say that the end of this pandemic is in sight as more people are getting
  vaccinated each week.

All of us have grappled with the disruptions and difficult circumstances caused by the public health
crisis. I am proud of our dedicated employees who turned the challenges into opportunities to shine
and figure out creative ways to deliver the excellent services our residents expect.

The staff has begun planning 2021 events, including summer concerts, a craft fair, and many other
programs for residents of all ages. Staying active is important for our physical and mental health,
especially after the year we all have endured. I hope you will find an activity in this month’s Community Spotlight that you
  can enjoy.

Please stay positive and continue to wear face coverings, socially distance when in public, and practice good hygiene to
slow the virus spread. Let’s all do our part to get the pandemic behind us as quickly as possible.

Mayor Gregory P. Kurtz and the Civic Center Team

Independence Youth Football is a program for students K-6 grade that works with our Independence High
School team and Recreation Department to support kids learning a lifelong path to total-person wellness
through the sport of football. We offer a safe, fun exposure to the sport that develops both football skills
and general athleticism in accordance with the national organization USA Football. Using the USA Football
Development Model, fdm.usafootball.com, our certified coaches teach age-appropriate drills in
progressive game types that over time, bridges the gap seamlessly from flag to tackle football.
