Lismore Castle Opera
Rossini’s La Centerentola was
performed in the Castle on Friday
29th of May. Thirteen pupils from
the senior classes went to the
opera accompanied by Mrs
Kennefick, Ms Buck and Ms
O’Mahony. They had a wonderful
experience and really enjoyed the
performance. It was a great
opportunity to hear world class
singers and top class musicians.
Open Afternoon for incoming Infants
There was great excitement around the junior corridors on Wednesday June 3rd as the staff welcomed
the new infants with their parents. Mrs C. O’ Mahony and Mrs Killigrew were at hand to extend a
warm welcome to all the children and their parents. The children played happily with the toys in the
rooms while the parents and teachers chatted and got to know one another. Once relaxed, the teachers
used this opportunity to acquaint themselves with their future pupils. We are looking forward to

Third Class performed a delightful play for their parents and the whole school last week. They told the story of
the age old fairytale of The Three Little Pigs in Irish. We were all astounded at their fluency and the delivery of
their lines. There was no need for prompting as they all knew their lines so well. It was a hilarious presentation
and thoroughly enjoyable.
Pen pals for Third Class
Third Class pupils have been busy
writing to their pen pals in Grange
school, Fermoy since September.
Having exchanged many letters
throughout the year they decided
to visit Bunscoil Bhóthar na
Naomh. It was very exciting to
finally get to meet them!

Page 7Cake Sale
in Aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital
Many Thanks to all who baked for our Cake Sale on Monday June 15th. Thanks also to all who generously supported
this good cause. Our Lady's Children's Hospital is Irelands Largest Paediatric Hospital. The mission of the
hospital is to constantly improve the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents in a safe and caring
environment. In 2014 the hospital had 34'770 emergency admissions, 17,700 day cases, 10,467 in patient
admissions. 74,843 outpatient attendances and performed 14.744 surgical procedures,
The hospital building itself was built in the 1950's and it was never intended that it would cater for such large
numbers of patients and the advances in medical care of today .Down through the years the efforts of fundraisers
across the country have contributed hugely to the improvement and development of services and facilities . This
support for the hospital continues to be vital as we await the construction of the long promised New Children's
Hospital. At present it is estimated that it will be at least 2020 before this facility will be available for use
.Children need our help in between to secure life saving and changing services. Míle buíochas arís do na cácaí go
léir. A total sum of €1040 was forwarded to the Crumlin fundraising office on your behalf .Everyone enjoyed the
experience of being involved in this worthwhile project and all enjoyed the cakes.

Page 10Sports Day
We enjoyed beautiful weather for our sports day on Monday June 15th. Eddie Nugent, Mr. Prendergast and Mr.
Smith with the assistance of senior pupils laid out the field into the relevant sections. We had great variety, relay
races, piggy-back races, egg and spoon race, dribbling, penalty shoot outs, three legged race, blind man’s buff and
walk the plank. The children thoroughly enjoyed the challenging obstacle course and fill the pipe race. The grass
volley ball course was also very popular. We all had great fun and the children helped to clear the field at the end of
the day.
