Have to? Want to? Need to?
Much is currently being said about organisations needing to collaborate, and
evidence certainly demonstrates together we can achieve more. In practice,
however, this is not straightforward and requires careful consideration. Creating
and maintaining lasting collaborative partnerships requires attention to process,
resources, relationships, and outcomes.
This workshop will provide you with a fresh perspective on collaboration. You
will explore the collaboration landscape and identify where your organisations
and your current and potential partners are placed on the continuum of
collaborations. We will use a framework for collaborating effectively to ensure
you maximise your efforts, to achieve more with your partners.
Finally, you will apply tools to support you in your collaboration journey.

The demands on governance boards of not-for-profit organisations have never
been higher with increased accountability, compliance, risk management,
funding pressures and HR management. Governance boards need to bring a
variety of skills and networks to the board table. They have to ensure delivery
of their core service within a complex regulatory environment whilst still being
able to think strategically and collaboratively. It is a demanding role to be done
on a voluntary basis. In addition, boards and CEOs or Managers have to work as
a strong leadership team to take their organisation to the next level. This session
will explore the delineation of roles and responsibilities and by doing so, how
these relationships can work most effectively.
Note: This workshop is ideal for two or more people from one organisation,
preferably a combination of management and governance board members.

Sarah Thompson – First Aid First
www.firstaidfirst.co.nz
It was having children that made Sarah realise how little
information about first aid for dealing with children and
infants was out there. As a former ambulance paramedic
and first aid instructor, and with a partner who is also a
paramedic, she thought that her family had the medical
side of having children covered. “I realised just how many
things scare parents, from fevers to tummy upsets to bumps on
the head.” Sarah put together “First Aid for Littlies”, a course
specifically designed for parents.
Gradually the business has grown, so that Sarah now offers, throughout the greater
Auckland area, a variety of concise First Aid Courses, tailored to
meet the needs of specific groups; and the supply of family-friendly First Aid kits,
as well as Workplace kits. Sarah revalidates annually with the NZ Resuscitation
Council to ensure that she is up-to-date with the latest information and techniques.

The Tindall FoundationFeedback From Our Partners Waiheke Island Social Service organisations have long had a relationship with ANCAD around workshops and information provided. Social Service organisations located here tend to have unique needs and requirements to one of that based in a large urban location, ANCAD acknowledges this when delivering services. ANCAD brings services to the island, an important factor when organisations are considering training and workshops for staff, the main factor being financial but the other being time management. Maggie Wikaira, Coordinator, Community Networks Waiheke Building community capacity is at the heart of community development and community empowerment. Well organised, inclusive, influential and cohesive organisations create a positive environment for people to enjoy a good quality of life. As part of MECOSS’ work to increase the capability of individuals and groups working at a community level in Auckland’s Manukau East, a co-operative affili- ation was established with ANCAD over a decade ago to deliver developmental management and leadership workshops. This successful working connection has opened up opportunities for local social services, community organisations and not for- profit entities to learn new skills, refresh their previous knowledge and to assist community leaders in gaining confidence for specific organisational leadership. ANCAD facilitated programmes are highly valued by MECOSS and its members. Furthermore, feedback received about the relevancy of the course content and material provided is always positive, as well as compliments regarding the professionalism of Ruth Greenaway’s organisational ability.
