Welcome to the 25th Annual Carlisle Ford Nationals – the world’s
largest Ford family reunion! As you embark on your journey you will
notice this year’s show is packed with celebrities, activities, celebra-
tions, displays and a huge all-Ford automotive flea market.
This year’s Featured Vehicle Displays include 50 Years of the
Mach 1, Boss and Eliminator along with 40 Years of the Fox Body

We are excited to share this 2009
Matech Ford GT Prototype GT1 race
car with you, as it has never been
on display in the U.S. at any car
show until now! It is one of only two
prototype Matech Ford GT1 race cars
in the world. It was built by Matech
Competition which was a Swiss racing
team.
This vehicle has racing history
behind it as well. It was in select races
during the FIA GT Championship
Series in 2009 as a Prototype GT1. The
car did exceptionally well in various
races such as Oschersleben in East
Germany, Adria International Raceway,
Hungaroring in Hungary and wrapping
up its efforts at Paul Ricard in France.
The team used this vehicle along with
its sister car that Marc VDS ran along
its side to learn how to improve the
cars. Matech decided to build entirely
new GT1 race cars for their efforts.
In the Ford GT Tent (inside Gate 3)
we have one of the two prototype cars
along with the real deal GT1 race cars
that raced at Le Mans.
The Matech team focused heavily
on the aerodynamics for their new
GT1 cars due to the prototype lacking
in this area. In 2010 when Matech
launched the new GT1 race car they
nailed the aero thanks to Ford’s factory
support which allowed the team to
test the new cars in their wind tunnel
to concentrate on the most efficient
and effective aerodynamics. The Ford
factory support really helped Matech
dial in their GT1 effort in order to get
the best vehicle possible for their Le
Mans efforts. The all-new GT1 Matech
Ford GTs did extremely well through-
out the 2010 to 2012 FIA GT1 World
Championship Series. In fact, the #60
Ford GT that is on display next to the
prototype lead much of the race at Le
Mans before it was rear-ended from
behind by an LMP2 car and was taken
out of the race.
We hope you enjoy seeing these
two amazing Ford GT GT1 cars. Take

The third-generation Mustang, commonly
known as the “Fox Body” or “Fox,” came to

the Fairmont and the Zephyr came to market in INDY PACE CAR PHILIP KROGSTAD
1978. Ford wanted something so different from DAVID REID
the previous Mustang II design that it enlisted the
help of Ford designer Jack Telnack to create this
all-new Ford Mustang. Through the years many
versions of this Mustang would come to fruition
such as the Indy Pace Edition, the Cobra, the
Spring and Summer editions and more. The Fox
Body would end up being the longest running

CELEBRATING MACH 1’S 50TH - building t
1969 was the benchmark year for the Ford Mustang when it came to
performance variants and engine packages. There was the Boss 302 and
429 and the Shelby GT350 and GT500 Mustangs. Plus, new to the market
came the Mustang Mach 1. The Mach 1 would serve its time in Ford
showrooms from 1969 to 1978, quite a long lineage for a performance
variant. Later in 2003 and 2004 the Mach 1 returned with Art Hyde and
Scott Hoag at the helm of the new Edge Mach 1. See the displays in
Building T and in the tent on Rows J & K.

CELEBRATING THE BOSS’s 50th - BUILDING T
It’s been 50 years, January 15, 1969 to be exact, since the first Boss rolled
off the line ushering in a new era of Ford performance. The first one rolled
out of Kar Kraft in Michigan as a 1969 Boss 429 Mustang. Over the next
couple of years Ford set new standards in the muscle car movement not
only with the Boss 429 but also the Boss 302 and Boss 351. Fast forward
to 2012 and Ford revived the Boss 302 nameplate for two years as part of
Ford’s new “road runner” engine-equipped Mustangs along with a slew of
other performance and aero add-ons. See our 50 Years of the Boss Display
in both Building T and the Boss Tent beside Building T on Rows D & E.

Featured Vehicle Display: 50th anniversary OF THE ELIMINATOR
CELEBRATING THE ELIMINATOR’S 50TH
In 1969 the Eliminator performance package appeared on a Mercury
Cougar. A 351 5.8 liter four-barrel Windsor V8 engine was standard, with
the 390 four-barrel V8, the 428CJ and the Boss 302 available as options.
The Eliminator also featured a blacked-out grille, special side stripes,
front and rear spoilers, an optional Ram Air induction system, a full
gauge package including tachometer, upgraded interior trim, high-back
bucket seats, rally wheels, raised white letter tires and a performance-
tuned suspension and handling package. In 1970 the four-barrel 351
Cleveland replaced the Windsor as the standard engine and many
upgrades that were standard on the ’69 were moved to the options list.
