Ny-Ålesund is a radio silent area

   Why?
   • Radio telescopes at the Airport & Brandal, operated by the Norwegian
Mapping Authority, measure signals from distant quasars
   • GFZ satellite receiving antennas and a few more

                     local emissions increase radio noise

Therefore ban of all radio emitters between 2 – 32 GHz

Note: worldwide harmonized 2.4 GHz band used for:
   • WIFI, GSM, BlueTooth, …falls within the protected frequency band
   • No mobil phones, drone, WLAN, BlueTooth, radio clock etc.
   • Turn off or use flight mode
Affected area: 20 km around Ny-Ålesund
