Registration and Payment
How do I register to play at Bentleigh?
Our junior registration and payment process is now entirely online.

Online registration and payment:

1. Read the information in this document.
2. Register and pay your online subscription via our link here.

I played for a different club last season. Can I still register with Bentleigh?
If you have played for a different junior club in the previous two years you should apply to us to
transfer your registration to Bentleigh. You can still register with Bentleigh however you must be
transferred from the club you previously played. We will organise your transfer and contact you
when this process has been finalised.

Is there any pre-season training?
Yes, subject to COVID return to play guidelines we will be having pre-season training. This is
likely to be in small groups and will all be held outdoors at the club nets (Bentleigh Reserve,
Arthur St Bentleigh at a time and date to be advised.

How much is junior registration?
Registration will be a bit different this season, we will be taking registrations with a non-
refundable deposit of $20 which will cover insurance for the players and some club costs in the
event that we don’t play or have a reduced season.

The final registration fee will be finalised when we know more detail about what the season will
look like. Final payments will then be requested but this year these will have to be managed
manually either by paying in cash, bank transfer or by EFTPOS/Credit card at the club.

The overall fees are likely to be in line with last year’s subs, if we have a full, or close to full
season.

How does Bentleigh's subscription fee compare to other local clubs and what
do I get for my money?
Our subscription fee compares very well with other clubs (other clubs can charge anywhere from
$200 to $350). The fee covers all the costs of your child playing cricket at Bentleigh, including
equipment, insurance and affiliation. New players also receive a free cap.

Must I register/pay to play?
All players must be registered to play, and registration can only be completed by paying.
Registration should be completed as soon as possible to be enable club planning for the season
to take place, like how many teams we will have, who will be in each team and so that we can
advise the respective associations how many teams we will have so that they can plan their
competitions for the season.

Do I have to register online?
Yes. Online is the only way to register and pay to play. Please contact the Junior Co-ordinator
(Chris Meister – 0427 055 762 or juniors@bentleighcc.com.au) if you have any questions.

Can I register online but pay separately/manually?
No. The initial deposit payment must be online as this also registers the participant and pays the
junior insurance fee to Cricket Australia.

Do I have to pay additional fees/charges for online registration?
No, your registration fee is all you pay. Although the club pays a transaction fee for use of the
payment facilities, we have decided to absorb this for now.

Is the online registration and payment process secure?
Yes, both personal data and all payment information are encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets
Layer).

Can I pay my subscription fees over time (payment plan) and does online
registration and payment cater for this?
Previously, a payment plan option was available for full junior registration as part of the online
registration process. However, this year this is not available as Cricket Australia decided to
suspend this feature. However, given we will be managing most of the payments manually we
can assist with this where needed. Please contact the Junior Coordinator (Chris Meister) if you
have any queries about this.

What if it is my first-time playing cricket or what if I have just come out of the
Junior Blasters or Master Blasters program?
We offer an Under 12 Rookies team which is perfect for anyone who is just starting out in cricket
and is either too old for Junior Blasters or has finished the Junior Blasters programme and is
ready for the next step. Alternatively, we also offer a Master Blasters programme run alongside
Junior Blasters. For more information see the Junior and Master Blasters links on our website.

Coaches and Team Managers for each team are appointed each season. Your Coach and/or
Team manager will be in contact with you prior to the commencement of each season.

All our coaches are minimum Level 1 Cricket Australia Coaching Accredited and have a current
Working with Children Check. Our Team Managers also hold a current Working with Children

Training and games attire
What clothing do I need for training?
It is expected that players wear appropriate training shirts (either a club training shirt or another
white t-shirt or their blue playing shirt) with comfortable runners/sneakers and track suit pants or
shorts. A cricket hat (wide brim or cap) as well as sunscreen is also advisable.

Players are advised to bring a drink bottle to training, as its often distracting to the training
session to have kids ducking off to get a drink.

This season there will be extra rules about bringing you own drinks, food, sunscreen etc. And we
will all need to have our own cricket equipment as sharing will not be allowed.

What clothing do I need for playing?
Long white cricket pants, cricket shirt (see below) and runners. A cricket hat (wide brim or club
cap) as well as sunscreen is also advisable.

Where can I purchase clothing?
This season all new club clothing (shirts, pants, caps etc.) will need to be purchased online, this
will see the same uniforms being worn across the entire club (seniors, juniors, men, women, girls,
boys) and make the purchasing easier for the parents and the club.

The online store is live at the link below. There is a monthly order cut-off so please order now if
you are a new player or need a new short. It does take 4 weeks after the cut-off for delivery so if
you need a new shirt or white pants for the start of the season please order before the 30th.

https://www.swivslocker.com.au/Clubs/Bentleigh-CC/Shop

The shirts to purchase are the 1-day Polo Shirt (LS/SS) and there is a sizing guide on the site to
assist you with getting the right size.

The new blue shirts that were purchased last year can still be worn, the same with any old white
pants, however there are new club white pants that can be purchased on the online site.

New caps are also available to purchase on the site.

Each new player receives a free club peaked cap when they first register.

Training information
When is training?
Teams generally train once a week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Specific
training days depend on the number of teams, age groups and player/coaching availability. We
hope to have a good idea of specific training days by the time we start training, however we will
notify all players once days/times are confirmed.

Game day information
What days do the teams play on?
This information will be made available once we are notified by the association.

What are the starting times?
U12 (Rookies) start at 9:00am.
U12 Sat - 8:15am sharp for one day games or 8:45am for two day games.
U12 Fri, U14, U16 - Friday Twilight games commence at approximately 4:30pm.
U18 Wed – commence at approximately 4:30pm.

What are the finishing times?
U12 (including rookies) - Approximately 11:15am (one day) and 11:45am (two day) games.
U12, U14, U16 and U18 Wednesday and Friday Twilight games finish at approximately 7:00pm.

What if it rains on game day?
In general, always assume that cricket is on, no matter what the weather looks like (unless told
otherwise by your Team Manager or Coach).

Often, no decision can be made until the last moment as the weather (especially in Melbourne)
can change quickly. Unless informed, every player should turn up at the ground before the
appointed time and be prepared to stay until the match can start or it is called off.

Please do not call coaches or team managers 10 minutes prior to the game's scheduled
commencement asking if the game is on.

Fixture and season dates
When do we get a fixture?
Fixtures are compiled by SECA (South East Cricket Association) and then forwarded to clubs.
This is obviously a detailed task and can take until the third round until clubs receive finalised
fixtures. Season fixtures are available via Weet-bix MyCricket.

When does the season start?
The exact date the season will start is to be confirmed.

Is there a break over Christmas?
Yes. The last game before Christmas is usually the second last weekend before Christmas. The
first game back after the Christmas break is usually the second or third weekend of January.
Once this is confirmed, we will update the website.

Assisting the club
Can parents/guardians help out?
Yes, parents/guardians are encouraged to help out. While we have a game day Coach and
Team Manager, parental/guardian help is always required and appreciated.

How can I help out?
Setting up stumps, sweeping the pitch, putting out boundary cones, scoring (where able) and
umpiring (where able) are just some of the jobs you could assist with.

That sounds like a lot of work?
It's easy when everyone contributes.

What if as a parent, I don't know anything about cricket?
It's not essential for some jobs and you can always learn. The club offers training and information
sessions at the start of the season.

Social functions
Does the club have social functions for juniors and parents?
Yes, please watch the website and your email. There are many club functions during the season
that we encourage our juniors and parents to attend.
