PRINCIPAL NEWS
COVID Update
With the latest Victorian lockdown, Victorian staff and students are still able to attend school. The school remains at
Level 2 restrictions. This means that students are still learning at school, with non-essential visitors restricted from
school sites, and certain activities modified to be COVID-safe; masks are not compulsory for staff or students.
Unfortunately, this means parents are not able to come on the school site.
GNEWS - Glenroy Public School
No parents or carers in the school at pick up or drop off times.

   • Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will leave via the front gate, along with those who brought a bike
       or scooter.
   • Students in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will leave via the Burrows Road gate. However, if they do have a younger
brother or sister, they can collect them and leave via the most appropriate gate.
   • Parents please wait in the car or meet your children outside the gate ensuring physical distancing of 1.5m. It is
important that you communicate with your child where you will meet them.
Staff and students must not attend work or school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with
any COVID-19 symptoms must be sent home and not return to school unless:
    • they have isolated for 10 days, when no medical certificate is available
    • they have a negative COVID-19 test result and are symptom free.
In circumstances where children or staff have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms, a letter from their GP is
sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.

Attendance
On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
    • being sick, or having an infectious disease
    • having an unavoidable medical appointment
    • being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
    • exceptional or urgent family circumstance (e.g. attending a funeral)
Following an absence from school you must ensure that within seven days you provide your child’s school with a
verbal or written explanation for the absence. However, if the school has not received an explanation from you within
two days, the school may contact you to discuss the absence. Principals may decline to accept an explanation that
you have provided if they do not believe the absence is in the best interest of your child. In these circumstances your
child’s absence would be recorded as unjustified

impressive rate of 96.43%!

School photos will be taken on Thursday 12th August. Every student in the school will have their photo taken on this
day. Orders can be submitted until 24th August. Order forms containing Shootkeys will be sent home with students
on Monday.

P&C Meeting
The next P&C meeting will be help on Wednesday 18th August at 6.30pm. The P&C is a great way to help support the

UNIFORM NEWS
                                  New School Jackets
We now have samples of the new school jacket, as worn by Phoenix Davies, for students to
try on for size and order if they wish.

The jackets will be for purchase by order only and will be $60 each. Order forms are
available at the office. The office will be placing orders with the supplier at regular intervals
                                  during the year.

Unfortunately, uniform orders have been difficult to get as even the largest supplier in
Australia is having stock issues. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a delivery time for the
jackets once ordered. Some items have been taking months.

Every effort will be made to get them to you as quickly as possible.

Year 6 Shirts
A message from our supplier:

“I am genuinely sorry regarding the wait for the polos. The largest supplier in Australia is having stock issues. Lowes is the same. I was informed yesterday the
order was placed on a ship. I have re-ordered the outstanding uniform items and am having them flown in. The arrival date in Australia is the end of this month”.

Thank you for your patience everyone.
