HAVE FUN!

www.gscwm.orgDear Girl Scout Family,
We are so excited to enter another year of resident and day camp! Camping is a vital
and defining part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience; it teaches girls courage,
confidence and character in an awe-inspiring location. At a time when youth
are spending more time online, camp gives girls a rare and necessary opportunity
to unplug from their busy school-year schedule, relax, explore the outdoors, and
just be a kid.
We know you have a variety of summer camps and activities to choose from;
that’s why we’ve made the Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts
camps so special. With more than 90 years of experience, and an America Camp
Association accreditation, our camps offer girls the opportunity to gain real-life
skills like conflict resolution, teambuilding, and effective communication in a
supervised, collaborative environment.
Our camps offer a classic summer camp experience with an emphasis on
independence, living within a group with a safe place to play, learn, and grow in an
environment where respect and responsibility are valued.
Camp life is truly the best life and we look forward to welcoming girls to their second
home this summer!

Eat. Sleep. Camp. Repeat. 2018 Girl Scout Camps 2ACA ACCREDITATION AND SAFETY/HEALTH REGULATIONS
The American Camp Association is the world’s premier organization dedicated to promoting the safety
and quality of camp programs. As part of the accreditation process, many of GSCWM’s camps voluntarily
participate in periodic visits by trained and certified camp visitors with the purpose of verifying our
compliance with high standards in the areas of personnel, program administration, and site and facility
safety. Camps Bonnie Brae, Green Eyrie and Lewis Perkins are officially accredited, however, all GSCWM
camps maintain the same high levels of safety and quality in camp programming by following ACA
guidelines. In addition to the safety guidelines outlined by the American Camp Association and Girl Scouts
of the USA, all GSCWM camps comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public
Health and are licensed by local boards of health. For more information about these state regulations,
call 617-624-5757.

Discover + Connect + Take Action = Leadership
At Camp Bonnie Brae, we’re building the leaders of tomorrow
through our exciting programs and the adventure starts now!
Want to spend the whole week on the water? You can do that!
Prefer to do art and theatre? You can do that, too! You’ll also plan
fun activities to do with your group when you aren’t honing your
special skills. Select your top three specialty program choices and,
depending on interest, we’ll place you in two of the three. You’ll
receive your final Connect focus area assignments when you get to
camp and participate in them each day. Upon arrival at camp, girls
move in to their age-level appropriate area. Once all girls in your
group have arrived and settled in, the group begins the process of
planning their week. A few things are already scheduled (swim
time each day, campfires on the first and final nights, all-camp
games, and a cookout dinner) and time for specialty programs,
but most of the week’s plans are decided upon by the group on
their first night together. Connect with the earth, your sense of
adventure, and other campers who share your same interests in
this session where you choose the adventure. See page 24 for
activity options.

Discover + Connect + Take Action = Leadership
If you feel ready to take on a greater leadership role, our Take
Action CIT programs will get you on the right track! Learn all of
the skills needed to work with children in a camp setting, then
put your new skills to the test when you intern with a camper
group. Staff members are your role models and guides, helping
to teach you all you need to know. Among your training sessions
you’ll still have time for all of the fun that camp has to offer. All
interested girls must submit an application in addition to the
camp registration form. CIT I participants will arrive at camp on
July 8 and stay for the week. Go home for the weekend and return
on July 15. CIT 1 participants will stay at camp over the weekend
July 21 & 22, leaving on July 27 and returning for their internship on
July 29. Complete dates for the program are: July 8-13, July 15-27,
and July 29- August 3.
