For this month’s current overview, we have
                                                                                 focused on top level trends appearing across the
                                                                                 high street concentrating on the UK, Europe, and
                                                                                 America.

                                                                                 Many of the trends we are tracking are an evolu-
                                                                                 tion of themes highlighted in previous seasons
                                                                                 which is most definitely a reaction to the current
                                                                                 pandemic.

                                                                                 More and more, retailers are building on designs
                                                                                 and products they know are successful rather
                                                                                 than launch a large volume of new designs in this
                                                                                 current climate.

                                                                                 Key looks from Spring / Summer have been pur-
                                                                                 posefully developed as subtle evolutions in order
                                                                                 for retailers to weather the strain of reduced
                                                                                 footfall, stock levels and shop closures. Howev-
                                                                                 er, there are some important areas of newness
                                                                                 and colour remains a key indicator of consumer
                                                                                 mood and appetite.

                                                                                 For AW20 some key areas to highlight are:

                 Palms & Ferns continue to be popular and are constantly being reinvigorated and renewed. Green re-
 PALMS & FERNS   mains the most popular colourway reflecting nature. There is a mix of styles on the market - loose stylised
                 large palms either on their own or with the addition of exotic fruit or even wild animals. Smaller scale ferns
                 also appear alongside a mixture of other leaves creating a more formal design.

                              Moody Bloom is a trend we are seeing across the market from high end to supermarkets. The majority of designs
 MOODY BLOOM                  are on dark grounds with large floral blooms executed in a painterly or photographic finish with some designs
                              mixed with butterflies or layered on top of background patterns. The designs have a wide appeal and are being
                              used across textiles, dinnerware and packaging.

                              Circular designs are the most popular geo currently on the market. Interest and variation are added
 SPLICED CIRCLES              through splicing of designs in different ways - halved, quartered, linear lines and positive and negative col-
                              our blocking reinvent the geo. Circular shapes have been stretched or extended echoing arched / lozenge
                              designs popular across artwork, mirrors and furniture.

                  Small ditsy florals in warm hues are extremely popular this season. They can be layered with plains, stripes
  VINTAGE DITSY   or even patterned clashed with large scale floral prints. From the examples above we can see, there are nu-
                  merous executions - La Redoute and Anthropologie for example have played with pops of colour. There are
                  more stylised designs, painterly and detailed but the overriding theme is the small ditsy scale.

                A highly commercial trend which takes inspiration from our surroundings, gathering local flora and fauna
 FLORAL SPRIG   reflecting the natural paired back and dried bouquets currently on-trend. Executions include both fluid,
                intricate and watercolour designs with additions of insects and a combination scale and placement options.

                 This is a trend most retailers are exploiting by creating a fun joyful collection. Stylised wild cats from tigers,
 WILD CATS       leopards, and panthers are either executed in a monochrome sophisticated colour palette or some retailers
                 have let loose and played with colour.

                Artistic abstract faces are still a key trend for AW20. Continual drawing lines have been used to create
 FIGURATIVE     placements and repeat patterns. Multitexture continues to dominate as well as looser styles. Stylised faces
                are also featuring on hard products such as vases, plant pots, mugs, jewellery stands as well as artwork.
